Maine coon cats have a 250 year old gene pool. They are naturally big , and do hold a little fat to keep warm the rest I assure is hair lol. had to laugh at freaking Hippo chant lol. Thanks for looking in.

@Avia465 He douse store a little fat naturally [ he is Maine coon - its in his Dna ] He has big fur which gives the impression he is even heavier. With the sheer size of Humphry you see this more ... he is a whopper nearly as big as my husky dog.

Nice head he has. But to me he is too fat. Wouln't it be better for his health to be put on a diet? I'd love to have a Main Coone one day as well, since all our animals are BIG... Great Dane, Comtoise-horses, and me, the owner... okay, forget what I said about any dieting... :(

@stellabeumer I thought Maine Coons were supposed to be big. I'm told they can get to be as big as 24 lbs. The average weight is between 13 and 20 lbs.

@chrismc410 "Big" is not the same as "fat". I even heard of a Main Coone of 30 lbs (I think he's the biggest cat in the world or something). But it isn't healthy for any animal to have too much fatty tissue, which, I fear, is the case with this cat. But they ARE amazing, aren't they? I'd looove to have one, but too expensive.

I got a kitten from the pound who looks a lot like him. They said he had Maine Coon in him, so he would be a big cat when he grew up. Sure hope so. I would love to have such a big bundle of love :D My kitten has extra toes ( another Maine Coon trait ) - 7 stickers on his front paws & a dew claw on the back. He is my baby mutant :D

@MrPinksBane Sounds like a really lucky find, let us know how you get on. We also have a rescue cat [ had her 8 years now] a moody little so & so , but hay we did rescue her. She comes in and eats , and then go's back to the garden lol. She had been mistreated as a kitten .. we still love and care for her. Catz will be cats LOL.

@Ace4ev3r Ha Ha. It's at the corner of Silverbell & Sweetwater actually. Really, extra toes are a Maine Coon trait, but for a while some people tried to breed it out of them. I like the extra toe cats better - they make great mousers! They can grab their prey with those goofy thumbs they have. Plus, they're adorable mutants :D

@schnulli200879 hahahha re fat ... This cat has just molted [ shed fur] he is not fat at all. He is fed , and kept quite well for a rescue cat. These cats [ like all ]take a lot of caring , and lots of care is what this cat has.

In this video Humphrey has all his fur before molting. ..
