  • You have to play your Cajon with your cojones on it.

  • very nice thanks!

  • Why does it have to be youth group this and youth group that?

  • Thumbs up of you were like one of those kida mentioned in the video c( :

  • wow this is really good thank u for posting

  • i want one.

  • You can also loosen the front plate or snare wires or both on most cajons. This one he plays does not sound very "snarey". Mine did sound like this until I loosened the front plate and the strings a little.

It now sounds a lot less poppy on the snare corners but just enough "buzz" to make it more kit like, but still has enough separation to not buzz on the bass notes.

Make an investment into your instrument. I play a Meinl BurlWood pickup cajon.. it's awesome!

  • wat cajon are u playin??

  • haha, an inexpensive way to get a full drum sound without buying a kid.

  • What cajon are you using in the video?

  • ive long hair too and i play great on the cajon ;)

  • super informative

  • nice :) like ur style check me out

    bonzo

  • awesome, i visited a youth group over spring break since mine didn't have service to help a friend by playing guitar, there was an acoustic set as well and the drummer pulled out one of these. So Now I am going to get one for mine since we don't have drums. Thank you so much for the ideas on this video.

  • What a great idea for youth groups.

And that was interesting to watch for a beginner ... i have back problems so couldn't sit bent over either. I never thought of sitting the way you do i will try it. I have been sitting on a chair with the cajon tilted. Mine was just over a couple of hundred dollars. they are more expensive now but still a lot cheaper than a drum kit for a church group low on cash.

  • Will Chapman of his brother's band, Caleb, has one of these touring. We saw 'um two weeks ago.

  • I bought one two years ago for around 80 dollars at a local usic store. I cant find the same one for under $115 now. It seems they have gotten more popular thus getting more expensive. Really fun for acoustic jams especially campfire jams!!!

  • I GOT ONE FOR CHRISTMAS XD

  • neat

  • Do you have to have long hair to play the cajon?

  • you can probably find one for no more than $30

  • I have short hair and I don't play my cajon very well so I'd say yes.

  • @davisthedog i have short hair and play the cajon, so i guess either is ok. :) LOL

  • how much does it cost?

  • thanx!!=)

  • thanks for the video. i was thinking about getting one so i can jam out with my wife. i'm been playing guitar for about 15yrs.

she plays the harmonica but i think this would be a great complement to my guitar. can u let me know what kind of cajon u have or maybe recommend one. how much do they cost? thanks for your help.

  • yea kids are expensive these days. just get a cajon

  • Very good tutorial, thanks. I just bought one tonight for the purpose of playing on light percussion gigs. we'll see how it goes. this helps.

  • LP makes a great snare cajon in their Aspire line. I have one, and play at the local open mic with it. Lots of compliments, and it sounds great. Best of all, you can get one for @$100.

  • The Cajon is from Peru, not from Spain!

  • how much is them cajon drums

  • You can get a good one for about $200 to $250

  • I am looking for an outlet that sells this brand "Schlagwerk" in the US where did you get yours?

  • Thanyou, you are a very good instructor will you be posting more videos?

  • You are talking to much, but nice

  • dude this really help thanks!

  • hey thanks soo much! i have a question though...are cajons loud? i'm thinking about getting one for my youth group...there are like 20 people in my youth group

  • how hard do u have to it?

  • How loud does a cajon sound ? compared to a drumset?

  • hey that was cool..

  • cool man!

  • which one is this???????

  • I messed around with the cajons at the local music store, and none of them sounded very good. The snares are kind of lame on a lot of them.

  • Make sure the snare wires don't still have the damping over them for delivery purposes, the one I bought at our local store did have! Just a thin strip of velcro over the top of them, but the difference when I took it off was amazing!

  • Nice demo!! Very simple, but informative. What do you think of the new cajon with the pedal? Is it really worth the 200+ dollars or should I start off with a basic snare cajon.

Thanks for your advise in advance!!

  • The cajon with the pedal is a useless cajon. Meinl went to far with innovation. This La Peru flamenco cajon is an excellent Instrument. Look for a flamenco cajon and you will find a good one it does not have to be this one though. There are good cajones and there are better. This one is one of the best although the price is too much for a plywood cajon. I think if the cajon was made of solid wood i would pay 300 dollars but for this one even if it is a La Peru should not cost more than 200.

  • I am Peruvian. My twin sons go to Liberty University. They are preparing for Workshiping. It never occur to me to advised them about the cajon. My kids are going to learn a bit more about their roots! Thank you for your post!

  • What awsome tips to help out a youth group or youth worship band! Our worship band uses one sometimes and it sounds great.

  • Cool video thanks for the tips am getin me cajon in the next week

  • Yes the cajon is Peruvian, but his one is a flamenco cajon. Peruvian cajones do have strings or bells inside. Peruvians used to make some cajones with nylon strings inside, flamenco cajones are made with metal guitar strings. We know Piscopolitan that the cajon as it is is Peruvian, but the flamenco cajon sounds very different to its sibling the Peruvian cajon. Yes we know as well that Paco de Lucia brought the cajon to Spain from Peru. And yes Pisco is from Peru as well.

  • Hello Jimmy,

I am a cajon player and I can tell you that when you sit on a cajon with your legs apart, the way to keep your back from hurting is to lean slightly back.

  • What I meant was to lean the cajon slightly backwards.

  • Very very good!!!

This Cajon is the model: "Schlagwerk CP-4007 Cajon La Peru"?

    The snare sound is great!!!!

  • Are you asking me about my cajon model Mauro Mussoni? If you are, Its Popercussion flamenco box.
