@chunkyxsushi OK, now I understand. However, as @spikefivefivefive commented previously, this was a compromise case from the beginning. If he'd had braces on the top first (he probably would not have needed veneers at all then, of course), we could have leveled the gingival margins for a better result. However, since he refused ortho on top, it would have been very difficult to correct the gum level on just 1 tooth without causing problems on others.
@jewish4ever You know, I did refer him to a periodontist to determine if there was a violation of the biologic width, and the specialist said there was not a problem, but could not provide an explanation of why the gums were moderately red. With no BW violation, crown lengthening would have made the teeth even longer, wouldn't you agree? At his most recent check-up (approx. 3 years post-treatment), the gums are looking MUCH better, although still not as ideal as we strive to achieve.
@chunkyxsushi Not quite sure I follow your logic......first you say the teeth are too long, but then you suggest a gum reduction, which would just make them even longer? Can you point out where there is recession?
@canityounitt I'm not sure I understand the question? Do you mean, have braces first and then veneers? Or have braces even if you've already had veneers done? In this case, we did veneers on the top teeth and braces on the lower teeth at the same time. If you don't mind clarifying, I'll be glad to answer more exactly. Thankfs for looking!
@Smilesbypayet I had a few veneers done here and there, and I'm still not completely satisfied with my bite and overall look. My question is, are braces still an option? Maybe invisalign? I imagine there will be some damage done to my veneers if traditional braces are applied.
@FlaxFalcon If you've already had veneers done, braces can still be an option, but you're correct that there is a chance the veneers could be damaged. Invisalign would probably be a better choice for you, but of course, you should see your dentist and/or orthodontist to discuss all your options. If you're in the Charlotte NC area, you can visit our website for more information, or you can call our office at 704-364-7069. Best of luck!
Spikefivefivefive -- you are absolutely positively 100% correct about that, and you have no idea how badly I tried to get him to do that. I made him go for an ortho consult for comprehensive ortho first, then pushed for Six-Month Braces on both arches with me first, but once he had fully accepted responsibility -- I was OK with it.
He came in last week for a check-up and things look great!
gorgeous work!!

The teeth are too long. And the gum is too receeded in some placed. Perhaps a gum reduction in some areas would have made this looks better.

Still, thank you for taking the time to comment.
