  • omars guitar + cedrics moaning=me jizzing everywhere!!!

  • mudvayne?? lol wut the hell, messing with the audiance, i love it!

  • "we're mudvayne" hahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • what is mudvayne??

  • @betukoso

    watch?v=dhG1lNly5uY

  • his voice is sketchy, but thats what makes the performance pretty sick,im pretty sure there was alot of energy being channeled to the crowd ,hah thats what makes a live show good..

  • They used to be so good back here! What happened :(

  • when they were good!!!

  • cedrics movements remind me of morrison from the doors but his voice sounds a bit like the lead singer from queen

  • Jon Theodore is a god damn monster.

  • good performance ...

  • lol, their new drummer actually played in mudvayne.

  • Singing isnt all about perfect technique, perfect technique can be souless, cedric writes original vocal lines, and does interesting things with his voice..that doesnt stop the fact that he sings, flat, out of tune, switches to falsetto live where hed sing in headvoice on the Cd, major flaws, they still put on a great live show

  • @phaedrus1979 - I so agree. Cedric is channelling an enchanting Medusa here

  • just saw em last night. amaing!

  • Best Mudvayne show I've ever seen.

  • Really good performance.

    I do liked it!

  • He would also look really gay.

  • jjajaa,,,like you

  • wicked drumming! is it john theodore on here?

  • WOOOOHOOOO YEAh PuÑeta! Eso eh MARS VOLTA!

  • Mars Volta is just the shit.

Like said, Gods everyone else can get fuckked

  • mudvayne is mud... the mars volta is god!!

i cant wait till i see them in 3 weeks

  • fuk mudvayne

  • LOL WUT, Omar without glasses looks like some kind of pissed off lionking xd

  • what are you talking about?lol he totally cares what he plays. he writes all of the music himself and then gives it to the rest of the players, i think you'd have to really enjoy something to have that sort of integrity. anyway, the mars volta rock!

  • Hahaha its funny how everyone thumbs down'd you even though you're fully correct, Omars got such a great aura that people don't care about the slips.

  • but he's not fully correct, every note he plays he plays on purpose. He does make a few mistakes every once and a while but he does give a shit about what he plays, what he plays is his life.

  • I really wouldn't call them slips, i'd just call it recreating the song live.

Just because its a certain way on the album doesn't mean much, you're not the artist that wrote it so you really don't know what the "right" way is in omar's eyes.

I think the album is really just a basic outline for them to stick to.

  • sometimes the "slips" are the best bits...

  • Spettaculo Porno.

  • cant wait to see them at T In The Park!

  • what song is this?

  • Roulette Dares

  • "Hello we're Mudvayne" lol!

  • i saw these guys live and it was fucking awesome. I was getting elbowed and suffocated the whole time but it was worth it. I was about ten feet away, it was balling. My buddy ended up getting the set list. These guys are true muscians. They played only 9 songs, but the concert was 3 hours long. Only the best can improvise like that

  • i saw the mars volta live once, Cedric turned into an owl and told me terrible things but then again that could of been the mushrooms

  • @Georgelogan that is the coolest thing i have ever heard your my hero

  • hey!!

what do you think about the mars volta loves mexico??

    i like it

  • um lol they are mexicans lol well at least the guitar and singer are

  • omar rodriguez lopez (the guitarrist) isn't from mexico is from puerto rico ....

  • yes,

    i knew it

    i'm only asking

  • and not even cedric is from mexico hahahaha is from california his fathers are from mexico but he is not mexican ...

  • you're a dumbass then he is mexican jus not an us citizen

  • I can't tell if you're a lame troll or a very ignorant American.

  • very ignorant American haha

  • Sometimes I hate my county.

  • mexican is a type of race did you kn that??? like black people unless you're native american your ethnicity is of a different origin then america if you're 'american' im not ignorant you guys are jus stupid lol

  • Actually if you are born in American owned area you are American regardless of your history. Second your brother must be a genius because no one else knows what the hell you're talking about. TYPE IN CORRECT ENGLISH.

  • btw my 9 year old brother understood what i was saying you should kill yourself we don't need another moron on the planet lol

  • hey stop replying to me fucker

im not even arguing with you

  • i'm mexican

    i love my country

    and mars volta too :D

  • Omar rodriguez Lopez is Puerto rican. Cedric mexican-American.

  • amphetamines? only pasion

  • whoa! can you say "amphetamines" ?

  • rumoured to play Leeds fest.

I would be so happy if they did!

    Maybe find out tomorrow

  • This is one of the most INCREDIBLE ,TALENTED ,groups i have ever known in my 44 years of life on this Earth ! I saw them in concert and I was COMPLETELY blown away ! It was the first time I had ever heard of them and seen them. They opened up for System of a Down. I've been hooked on The Mars Volta ever since ! I could go on and on about them.

  • I was disappointed with their live show. When i saw them they didn't actually play any songs, they just jammed for 45 minutes to an hour and that was it. Also Cedric got into a fight with a security guard and a couple of audience members and ended up getting booed for the final minutes of their performance.

  • I'm quite sure mars volta is the only band that even after two hours of standing up listening to them live, I still want more. I really get into a trance they're just mind-blowing

  • this concert begins with son et lumiere and inertiatic not with roulette dares

  • It's alot differnt to watch them live in videos and actually see them live. Their staccato rythms and backwards melodies overload and confuse your brain, lulling you into an ecstatic state. If anyone gets a chance to see them, take it. It's much better to be in the room.

  • Totally agree with you that's exactly how you feel watching them live I think they played for near 3 hours when I saw them it was like a trip. I was completely hypnotised by Cedric who has an amazing stage presence. Saw them at Brixton Academy a few years back.

  • I have to say I always get a bit disapointed when I hear them live 'cause I really love all the cd's. But then again those vocals are so impossible :)

But either way the band kicks ass! Period!

  • I watch this video and I am glad to have something so amazing come from my generation. Perhaps they are far ahead of their time, but this is undoubtedly the most musically inclined and talented band around today.

  • It's interesting that you say that, maybe they'll be our generation's Velvet Underground?

Playing music that doesn't quite fit in the context of society at the moment, only to inspire many bands later on.

  • everybody's got a point of view..that's very good

  • Yeah, lotta hate. There at Bonnaroo this year, so go check em' out and make an opinion. That's my plan. Now, if there up against Phish or Grisman there out in a blink.

  • Great band, amazing drummer!

But always poor harmonies and poor melodies.

  • dissonant, yes. poor? that's subjective. i like a little bit of chaos. calling the mars volta's harmonies poor is like looking at abstract art and criticizing the fact that the artist didn't color inside the lines.

  • English is not my native language, and lyrics and music move me the same way as it does with english speakers. if you are looking for, so to speak, 'meaningful' lyrics, youre speaking the wrong language. it has little or nothing to do with 'what it is said', but 'how it is said', and performed, PopExpo.

  • ..,.,.,+1

  • opinions don't mean shit if you can't back it up with something better

  • Ð Ð Ð Ð

  • popexpo is the kind of guy who likes greenday because billy j armstrong wears eyeliner and doesn't realise he doesn't play guitar half the time, it takes guts to apprciate this kind of music, leech your hate elsewhere

  • i would pay a LOT of money to see this live. It's just music you don't understand, and that's ok, but why are you insulting it? I actually did see them live, and it was out of this fucking world incredible. No one's making you go see their show, so why are you complaining?

  • Didn't see them yet, so checkin out the videos. Yeah, lotta hate out here. What the hell did the band do>?

    Peace!

  • great video, but it doesn't do their live shows justice. If you see ONE band before you die, The Mars Volta is that band. They'll play 3 songs for an hour-long set. Fucking Spectacular!!!

  • he sounds like tom delonge.

    drumssssssss

  • ahahahahahaha Cedric: "Hello, we're mudvayne" ahahahahaha Cedric Bixler-Zavala for President

  • lollermusic

  • whats song is this?

  • roulette dares (this is the haunt of)

  • cedric is a cutie!!!!

  • His voice is spot on in this video, excellent quality.

  • This is sooOoOooOOo amazing! Briliant use of effects by Omar and amazing ending solo.

  • Marsvolta<3

  • cedric says it...fuckin mint vid

  • LOL. Dont insult them. The Mars Volta is unique. There is no other band on the planet like them right now, and they are all geniuses. They Came to mexico for the 4 time this year, and they were AWSOME!!!!

  • everyone in this band is spectacular

  • They sound a little bit like King Crimson

  • This song is Roulette Dares off of their first album Deloused in the Comatorium

  • They're a good band but I hear they're total assholes in person. And John Theodore was the best thing to ever happen to them. They're probably gonna suck without him, although they already showed signs of it in Amputechture. It's a shame too, they had such a great start.

  • Nah man, they are all awsome. And yeah, jon and omar were the only ones who could pay attention, but they were all real kind man. Cedric was a bit wasted, but he didnt diss or anything

  • John theodore worked with them for the album. and actually, cedric and omar seem like pretty nice guys from what i've seen in video interviews..

  • everyone needs to get off of theodores' penis, he is an amazing drummer but they have had solid drummers throughout their run and pridgen is one of the best....i cant wait to see them on new years eve

  • What A Band

  • i saw them perform this song at the chili peppers show what song is this? its really great

  • Roulette Dares

  • the song is called "Roulette Dares (the haunt of)"

  • roulette dares

  • man every one started likeing the mars volta now since they came on target commercials and no offense too anyone who liked them before the target commercials

  • But thats good man. I knew them when they were doing 50 people concerts in Mexico, and im glad that they are getting fame, even if its from a target commercial or whatever man.

  • They were on a target commercial?

  • I'm too old to read this kind of shit. The guitarist Omar Rodriguez, if not excellent, it is at least creative, avant-gard, not in the common spot of three chord songwritter. The Orange amps confirm his good taste.

  • 'their guitar player is terrible but that's just my oppinion.'

Erm you mean 'the mastermind behind almost everything that is The Mars Volta is terrible'

    Adn I strongly dissagree.

  • Amen

  • yeah man, if you havent seen them live, then you dont know. And if you have seen them live and say that, then you don't know how hard it is to actually play. Why bother commenting on a Mars Volta video if you dont like them?

  • to share an opinion and nothing necessarily more. We are an opinionated species of individuals.

Personally I find that the sun radiates from Omar's butt, so divine are their musical escapades.

  • hey jackskeleton333, ARE YOU SURE OF WHAT U SAY??

please hear some mars volta and say same thing again (i really wanna see that).

  • Dude, watch one of his jams with John Frusciante and Flea. He sucks in them!

  • hello we're mudvayne

  • i really love cedric's voice

  • ^lol

  • their guitar player is terrible but that's just my oppinion.

  • You either hate it or you love it. I love it.

  • yeah, their "original drummer" Blake Flemming took his place. For reasons unknown, jon theodore has left the band.

  • Jon was fired from Omar & Cedric for to much party and videogames. They want 100%musicians.

    (Visions-Interview /August)

  • I drove the support band for this gig and got full backstage privilages. got to watch from stage left so i did. Jelousy levels anyone??? Mint!!!

  • mars volta songs are incredibly hard to sing.

  • that performance was perfect. yeah.

  • 'not as sloppy as the singing was 2-3 years ago'

Please correct me if I'm wrong, (which I'm 99% sure I'm not) but that gig was the 9th of July 2003.

I'm pretty sure they Didn't play the Ballroom again and seing as that gig was put out on CD, I assume it's the same gig.

Oh, and it was the best night of my life.

  • whoever said this was sloppy is a jackass

  • jon theodore is amazing, this new guy has big shoes to fill

  • huh? jon theodore is gone?

  • I love the money shot in this vid :D

  • He was being sarcastic about the Mudvayne thing. Expressing his dislike for metal.

  • I would think that most Mars Volta fans are fans of some kind of metal. I couldn't give a rats ass about Mudvayne though, I thought it was hilarious and was suprised it didn't get much of a laugh out of the crowd.

  • not as sloppy as the singing was 2-3 years ago

  • cool i like it wow.!!!

  • I'm seeing them in October with RHCP. I'm pumped!

  • a little bit sloppy singing but its still ok

  • Maybe he forgot their actually TMV.

  • Did Cedric say "we're Mudvane" in the beginning? And why?

  • cause he always says shit like that haha

  • like that

  • fucking amazing

  • yup.

  • fucking awesome! hope they'll be doing a european tourhis fall

  • Yo thats Herbie Hancock on keyboards!!!

  • no its Ikey Owens

  • f-ing awesome

  • cedric doesn't sound so great here, nor did he with his former band, however, i saw them live in sep' of '05 and they were fuckin amazing, i think he's improved a lot in making these two albums with volta

  • The song is "Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of)" from their first full-lenght "De-Loused In The Comatorium"

  • love this song...how is it kalled?

  • me likey bread stick me likey bread stick

  • haha mars volta is koool

  • just great

  • amazing

  • fuckinanimals

  • Hahah, that's so awesome an unexpecting, lol.

  • hello were mudvayne ..BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • sounds like cedric saying it

  • Who said hello we're Mudvayne?

  • Cedric, of course. Silly man he is.

  • Cedric-just for kicks. Does it get any better?

  • cedric
