Well, I didn't see the original, but I DID see this production, and it was AMAZING! HPSJ85, you have to take into effect the fact that this is outside, no shell, and balancing that is hell. Did you see it at the Coronet ? Perfect theatre for the show!
I saw this show at the rubicon theater in Ventura before it went to the coronet. They are friggen amazing. I didn't see tami i saw Natascia Diaz and she's a fuckin' genious....they are good i promise.
I liked Cruz in rent but at least in this video all three of them are sub par. I could have dealt with the overwhelmingly nasal quality, but the pitch issues are Really Really bad, this is why we see shows in NYC not LA
As much as you say this video doesn't do them justice, I still believe that Wilson Cruz is not right for this part. Andrew would have better luck as Mark in RENT, rather than as Jonathan.
actually I don't think that andrew would have been a good mark. andrew was amazing as jonathan . both times I saw the show about 90% of the audience was crying. when we went out to meet them everyone i ever went with was only able to get out a "thank you" while they were still crying
This has got to be one of the most disappointing renditions of 30/90 I have ever heard. WAY too nasal sounding, and way to hokey. They are just singing it to try to make themselves look good. They aren't actually appreciating the emotion, feeling, or meaning of the song. VERY disappointing cast for such a great song.

Just 'cuz a guy's hot doesn't mean he can sing and act two, which the performer in this video cannot do. He is a terrible actor, I mean, he's fucking indicating, displays emotions completely opposite those represented by the song, has no knowledge of the style of music, and can't control his voice. And for christ's sake, learn to spell "justice."
i saw Andrew and Wilson in TTB in Los Angeles. Both in this performance at The Grove and at the Coronet Theater. Their performance in the Coronet Theater is a much better product than this. And this video definitely does not do their voices justice. But to each his own opinion. But I believe they got rave reviews from the LA Times and LA Weekly

woooww, this um... TOTALLY makes me appreciate the oobc sooo much more, particularly raul. Not to say andrew tami and wilson are bad, its just... it makes me really JUST how INCREDIBLE raul amy and jerry are. Because I def DONT like this version as much

it's just a bad audio. if you listen to the rent videos they're even pitchy. the camera i had was horrible and it didn't record anything well
