There's nothing gratifying about seeing a portrayal of Jesus being tortured, the purpose is to bring the reality of what really took place. A reality which many of us don't understand or realize until we see images of what torture and pain Jesus did go through, and we see the price of God's anger met on Jesus Christ instead of man.

Many Atheists will talk about this being untruthful, "only believing in Christianity for the happy feelings," etc. Many Christians will believe it to be wise, as to them, Christianity is the truth. Whether Reed believed Jesus was the savior of mankind or not is not presented in this song.

There's nothing gratifying about seeing a portrayal of Jesus being tortured, the purpose is to bring the reality of what really took place. I encourage you to think about connections between people, not divisions. It goes back to how I feel about the movie "The Passion Of The Christ". Jesus NEVER suffered like normal people suffer!!! This is the Great Hypocrisy!!! Us Normals don"t know why we are persecuted and suffer and we will not give our Lives to something greater than Us.. Jesus Knew that he was Gods Son and he was The Sacrificial Lamb. THAT MAKES ALL OF THE DIFFERENCE. Jesus went WILLINGLY to the Cross and Died for our Sins BECAUSE HE TALKED TO GOD!!!
