That's very true I agree with that. I am a CODA teen and I do stomp on the floor or flick the lights on and off. I remember when I was about 9 or 10, I went out to ride my bike in the neighborhood. I was riding too fast and crashed into something so I was hurt pretty bad. It took me a while to limp home because it hurt so much. When I got close to my house, I saw my dad. I didn't want to walk anymore because of the pain, so I threw a rock at him to get his attention because his back was turned
Hahah! I am a CODA as well , and when i need to get my mom when she's walking up the stairs , I ALWAYS stop the stairs or look for something to throw! So i will throw a piece of paper at her to get her attention ! Or I will just get my sisters to go up and tell her . haha the coda life is just interesting . Or i will just text her . since i live in a townhome , i always get in trouble for stomping the floor to get her attention . :) P.s. I wanna a CODA shirt, where can you get that? :)
Just discovered your vlog. Love it. Andy: I, too, have a CODA scar. I never thought to call it that, but that is exactly what it is. WOOT! Ben: I want that shirt! Great shirt. And great stories!
usually if im sick or throwing up on the couch and my mom is upstairs, i use my cell phone to call the house phone to make the lights on the house go off, and it gets her attention, so she comes downstairs and checks the caller id and sees its me.
You know what's really bad? when ur a coda in an interpreter training program like me, and by habit you throw stuff at ur asl teacher or stomp your feet frantically on the floor. All the other students stare at me like I'm a fool...lol....
I know this is late, but seeing this made me laugh hard! I have two coda sons, and one of them is a teenager (grr, too)... he loves to go over his friends'. His friends when first meet me, are shy hahaha..
My sister and I would always throw things at my parents to get their attention. We'd always have to go back to where they were sitting and pick up our unsuccessful hitting items. My mom is hard of hearing, though...so if we screamed (1, 2, 3.. "MAHHHHHM!!!"), she could hear us if we were loud enough.
I am laughing so hard at both of you because I know many coda kids are very smart and give deaf parents hard time like me :)I have one coda son had have through his teenage stage (((grrr)))Now finally he is finally growing up and became very good big heart young guy.I had no problem with my angel coda daughter all her bright life God bless both of you :)

they're CODA. That means they are hearing but with hard of hearing parents. Also, they mentioned in another video that ASL is their first language.
CODA
Children of Deaf Adults btw
