@xboxdragondude so what that new players enjoy it? in the first month that i played guitar, Nirvana was awesome to me, because it was easy enough to play. Then after 2 or 3 months, Metallica was my shit, Then I moved on to more difficult things such as Dream Theater, and a couple Satriani songs...so what's the point?

The Jimmy Page comparison isn't apples and oranges, those are two very famous guitar players who's playing gets dissected by ever guitar "expert" out there, and they are both probably over rated. He's not a pioneer, he was just regurgitating what he heard on American Blues records, only sloppily

i love the "slash is awesome because he plays with emotion" fanboys. yeah, slash wrote some great solos and some great intros and riffs. he is also an awesome performer and exemplifies a rock god. but he also played for one of the biggest rock and roll bands of all time - if he was doing his own thing on the club circuit without axl back in the day, i doubt as many people would give a fuck, just like axl needed him.

I agree with the premise that it was Slash that made GnR what it is, however, i wouldn't rank November Rain and Sweet Child o Mine within the 10 top solos, let alone the best two ever made! In my opinion, Hendrix, Clapton, Gilmour and Page have created the greatest solos of all time. Slash's work is incredible, but not quite the best.
