"slow start" that shouldnt be there... sure it starts out slow...but it kinda has to, they cant just throw world 5 at you on the first level. and if they did the game would just get harder...and considering the already ludicrious dificulty of the top secret stage, it would be praticly unbeatable if the game didnt have a "slow start" so you should give this game a 10/10

Lastly the game has 16 worlds. 8 in the main story. And 8 special world. each with 5 levels a mystery box stage and a toad house.

I love the wii. But i dislike it when thay bash the 3ds. Its from their company. And on top of that thay say 3ds graphics arent as good. This is only the beginning of the real nintendo made games. the wiis graphics werent too good at first but at the end wii games were starting to look realy detailed. The 3ds games will be big by the end if its lifespan. just get one. 169.99 is real cheap for a pocket wii with processing power a great deal more.

I wish I had never mastered this game... I mean, I can speedrun S8-Crown for crying out loud and I can complete every level using only Big Mario and not getting hit, I got 5 shiny stars 3 times over...

...now, beleive it or not, it actually got old, and I have to wait an entire month until I get other games... Grrrr...

this game was amazing, buitiful graphics, fun gameplay, good music. only problem was that the storyline sucked. Mario & Luigi Bowsers inside story managed to pull of a good storyline, I don't get why nintendo was lazy on purpose with the storyline in super mario 3d land. Yes, I know story isnt required to make a game good, but it certainly does improve it. take zelda for exsample.

@mariosmashfann no not broken, that`s a phenomena known as ghosting. The 3ds displays 2 slightly different images of a scene for the 3d and uses a filter to seperate those images to the appropriate eye. This ghosting is probably due a overlooked design flaw in the filter that will probably be fixed in later models.

But look on the bright side, at least it`s not the red ring of death.

New Super Mario Bros DS use to be my favorite portable Mario game, but that has changed. Such great level design and the visuals are just gorgeous. To tell the truth this is probably the best controlled Mario game I've played in a long time.

@grkpektis it adds more challenge to the game as you only get a few chances to correct your mistakes while other games give you infinite lives and you can keep making the same idiotic mistakes until by pure luck you get it right so in my opinion the lives system is much better than infinite lives

@grkpektis I do not entirely agree, it is true Nintendo jumped on with giving people the ability to play through levels invincible, or even like in DKC-Returns on the wii, have the game play itself through the level, usually it will not reward you full completion using the superguide.

but, it gives you something to do instead of failing continuously, i remember the merciless mine cart levels from the first donkey kong returns. not to mention that there was 1 checkpoint per level selection map.

The lives in this game are so easy to come by (currently up to 200 something), and any level that has a koopa and a wall can be used for farming lives rather easily.
