My experience with RAID has taught me that RAID 5 (especially software 'md' RAID) is bad bad BAD in terms of reliability. Other than that, this looks like a fun setup. I have no experience with Beowulf, but I've built a few Linux cluster using Sun Grid Engine. I currently maintain a 30 node cluster at JPL using CentOS on Dell servers.
With regards to RAID 5, google 'BAARF' and start reading.
@PHWeeMan CentOS is actually pretty great if you need a production environment Linux on the cheap. I like Ubuntu as well, but have found that Redhat based distros have better server hardware support. ymmv...
where is werewolf available from? the beowulf site seems to have no downloads or links to any downloads, and there's nada (about beowulf) at distrowatch either..
im actually procrastinating from reading Beowulf while im watching this vid

Due to how CPU Multi threading works, this would be "nearly" impossible.
It most certainly is beyond the normal user and would take a LOT of years of programming to pull such a thing off.
