seriously people, is not just the planes do you know how many people waste electricity by leaving their computers running even when they are not home, also things like leaving tv's and lights randomly on, and the best part is they dont really care, makes we wonder if they dont care, why should i.
(ps. though i still care, because all little shit adds up to a big shit and wea ll end up being coverd in it)
I say bring back the day of the dirigible. At least for domestic flights and quite possibly for trans atlantic after all the Hindenberg made it several times before it, umm, exploded. Modern airship technology is much safer and advanced. Helium losses through the envelope are minimal. The ship could fly on batteries which would benefit from a partial recharge during daylight hours.
Balloons are fine(sorry dirigables/airships), but we move on and i suppose when they become a realistic alternative we will use them. Until then mate i'm afraid it's bloody easy jet n' british airways
True enough for most trans atlantic, but a large ammount of mail and freight is still transported by sea, Airships have phenominal lifting power for very little cost and are faster than ships. I think they are a realistic alternative for many applications, just not everything, like you say I'd travel by jet if I was going on a week's holiday to the other side of the world. But I'd take the airship If I wanted to go 500 miles up country. Think of it as a bigger bus service.
What about the good old prop engine seaplanes? some of them could land on runways and water you could use them from Hub air ports to alsorts of places large or small, for instance if you were flying to the red sea from the south coast of England instead of the inflight meal (sometimes good but not always) the plaine could pull in in Nice for some "propper" grub, (Do you get it?)If an aircraft flys lower and slower will it have less of an impact on the environment? see Imperial Airliners.

What a waste of electricity used to put that together. If you want people to listen, how about making decent adverts?
