I picked up learning banjo a little over a year ago. Been making up my own crap, can't play any beautiful old folk songs yet (that's what I want to learn) BUT point of relevance, this is incredible. I hope you play open mics wherever you are, because your collection of songs is admirable. and you can sing.
Hi Christine or Iplaybanjoknow if you prefer...i' m on of your fan from france...please post a new video soon...i long so much that i decided to ask you.
Bravo!! I came looking for my favorite mississippi john song and I must say I was sorry not to find the original, but your version brought all the joy well done!!! I love your voice too !!! BRAVO !!!! Nice pickin' !!! B E A U T I F U L !!!!
Awesome! I do a version of "Coffee Blues" on clawhammer banjo. I think many of his tunes sound more like "old-timey" country than blues, not that there really needs to be a strict categorization. Keep up the good picking.
after watching the different versions of this song posted out there, you realize how masterfully John Hurt did his thing. You and all those other guys play and sound so good, so you must have even greater insight and apreciation of what John Hurt did. I like you version best, it captures the spirit of that 1928 version
A minor criticism, and I don't know what you can do about it until you're using pro gear: Your voice is recorded at a good level but the banjo is a bit too strong.
I love this video. The banjo sounds great and she has a lovely voice. I also love the way the singer is dressed and the look of the video. She is casual and natural...it is nice to see someone playing for enjoyment and for the love of music rather than a "performance." It reminds me of the wonderful folk days of the early '60's. Keep playing "banjo woman!"
so good

Wow... I think the only thing sexier than a girl playing banjo is a girl playing John Hurt on a banjo. Sweet.

Now who would have thought of MJH on banjo, any more than "Statesboro" on dobro? Good Lord, this is great. Thanks for keeping the faith.

But that's OK, just keep at it.
