i read this book and had to write a reader response essay on it.. i was VERY disappointed... i thought i would be reading a journal from a father to his son... instead i got more of a personal journal from dana explaining more of her life. the book itself was good but i think she took advantage of our society's outcry to end these conflicts. this book is on the bestseller list only for that reason.

@michaels6speed wow really, I will send you a link next time one of my buddys dies in afghanistan she is a women that is missing her husband that died in combat protecting our freedom so untill you ever feel that(witch more and likely the men you are with do no not have the courage to put themselves in that situation) will respectfuly you can keep your uneducaed opinion to yourself...

@VQDIABLO uneducated? I did 8 years active duty, i buried 7 friends and watched several other soldiers die. I wish you and your buddies the best of luck.

Simply can't wait to read this book Dana!
My sister called from Brisbane to tell me that my son & I simply have to read it too!
She added that she cried "buckets of tears" both of joy & sadness, but that she knew that, that was never Charles' intent.
She also hopes that OPRAH has the wisdom to add it to her BOOK LIST, so that millions more get to read it.
Oh! She claimed that it'll definitely be a movie one day! So hope that you choose Denzel to play lead role!
