  • it took many months work to go back and forth to the 'moss' and cut and chop and carve and carry your wee peat stacks back down to the farm

    see my " And I Dreamt ' post - you had to be there to have the turf dirt in your eyes, in your nose, in your snot, inyour spit, and when you got back to the farm, the all embracing , seductive smell of peat smoke was like a young lover's breath.

  • Amateur. That is not turf cutting. I agree with Rooster954 - he's never fill a trailer at that rate, never mind the 3 or 4 that it takes to keep you going all year.

  • OK guys, ok, I admit it! It is good, honest turf cutting with a genuine sleán, and I do do it every year. I only cut a barrow load, but the aroma of that freshly dried turf burning on an open winter fire is heaven in Eire!
