If I could make it thru menopause without hormones, I imagine a few more women could too. Sad thing is most women don't want to know where their drugs come from:( I guess the old saying is true, ignorance is bliss. I wouldn't trade one hot flash for the peace of mind knowing I never sent an orphan to the slaughter house. Or condemned one mare to a life spent standing in a straight stall. This really needs to stop. thanx for sharing:)
why are there still PMU farms if the medicinal element can be manufactured? I know it can, 'cause I'm on HRT and made sure it was plant- not animal-based
Amazing!!! Yes, please upload a recent video? I'd love to see how this handsome boy has grown! When I'm out and on my own I plan to adopt a horse PMU related or a retired draft. It's something I've always wanted to do.
OMG, what an enchanting foal! I love how she keeps coming right up to the cameraman...she likes people, obviously. She's very flashy...I wonder how she's doing now..would be cool to see an updated video.
Wow, she's beautiful! We have a PMU mare that we rescued at 18 months. We got Windsong from South Dakota. She is the greatest horse I have ever owned, she isn't spooky and she already allows my cousins 3 years and up get on her and ride.[she turned 3 in June]
Life is short, forgiving long and thank heavens, forgetting longer still. I am sure that not one being important to that beautiful energy apparent in that video will be forgotten, ever. And although it doesn't lessen the loss, thanks for sharing. We should strive to be so.
My mare was also a PMU rescue. I bought her from an auction when she was a year old, she's ten now, and my pride and joy, i love her with all my heart and couldn't picture my life without her by my side.
Nugget was acquired by a group with the acronym "FANI." My wife was hndled this and she recently passed away so I I'm sorry I don't have more information. Thank you for the kind words but Nugget has given us so much joy, we are already blessed to have him with us.
Not stupid at all. PMU stands for Pregnant Mare Urine. Some meno[pause drugs require ingredients found in Pregnant Mare Urine. So, ranches will breed horses to collect the urine. Often times, the foal is considered an unecessary by-product. PMU rescue organizations help find good homes for these unwanted foals.
The horse I trained was PMU mare. She was pregnant when she came and she was so scared of everybody. It's been six years and she's still really claustrophobic and headshy and spooks alot. I really wish people would quit screwing around and put an end to this crap. If the Premarin people understood what they did to my mare...
Bud - Dianne looks SO happy! She will be missed, and Nugget is wonderful. Dianne is looking out for both of you from above. Her life was far too short.
What a gorgeous horse. You should be very proud of yourself, for saving such a beautiful life. It is people like you that make horseowners proud to be horseowners. Thank you.
Pretty filly, I am so glad that you rescued her from the slaughter house, never ever give her up. Even if the world is tearing down before you, take her with you were ever you go. Don't allow her to have to go back to that place. Now if we could all just chip in to burn down the slaughter houses and ban them for good.
im so glad you rescued him ^^ i truly admire ppl that do good things. i mean theres like thousands of foals that die at the slaughter house and this could of been one of them, nugget is like one of the lukiest foals to have ppl who care about him and love him.
It just brings tears to your eyes when you see a horse free and happy, The pmu industry makes me absolutely sick. They should all be closed down, and all the horses freed from the abuse and suffering. Its wonderful to see at least on foal saved from death. I wish they could all be saved...
Nugget has been at Clinton Andersons ranch for the last 2 months being trained. I get him back early May and can't wait for the many trails that we have in our future together. Thank you all for your kind comments.
My best friend has a mare who was a PMU baby and was 1 week away from going to the sluaghter house. She just gave birth to her very firt baby and it amazes me what a wonderful horse she is after all she went through at such a young age.
I have a horse shelter in Maine with 5 rescues currently, one of them a PMU colt. He's been with us since 6 months and is now almost 3... what a blessing he is! PMU industry needs to be stopped!
Bless you for this rescue, it would be a terrible loss, this foal deserved to live! Horse slaughter and all kinds of mistreats just make me sick... It must stop at once!! :/
PMU industry makes me sick , how those slime can do this to those poor horses and foals for money I cant get my head around. Souless pricks.Good to see one made it to a good home with people who care. Good on you.Fellow horse lover with own collection of slaughter bound horses.

The Bible mentions that animals were put on this Earth for mankind. Here's what that means to me.
Animals are vulnerable and weaker than people. We must take care of them. Serving their needs serves ours.
Our angel souls are designed to serve just as race horses are born to race. Our souls thrive when we serve those who are more vulnerable than us.
God serves us in that way. He takes care of us.
As children learn to parent by playing with dolls, our souls learn Godliness by caring for animals.

You could try going to a boarding center, tell them what you're doing, and ask them if they'd 'donate' a few spaces.
