  • I had a 2004 MG ZR 2.0 TD, had awfull trouble with the car. Used to have to rev it very loudly once starting no matter what what conditions, then it always cut out coming upto traffic lights and the electrics were horrendus altogether

  • sometimes you have to give the diesels a good rev on startup or they just cut out, if you have it a 3000 rpm for around 5 seconds it will run sweetly, this is in cold weather ofcourse?

  • thats the badest idea i ever seen nobody can tell you whats with your car without seeing it it could be fuelfilters, crankshaftsensor, pump, bad fuel, ......

  • MAF ?

  • crankshaft sensor 100 %

  • Bad quality of fuel...

  • They are a very good engine, based on the old prima diesel of the 80s, which was in turn based on the o,m and t series Rover petrol engines.... They in turn were based on the B series engine...

  • that's what our lhs does

  • i had this on my legacy turbo it turnt out to be the gas converstion had leaks and the ecus where confusin each other !

  • Yes, rover diesel run without MAFs but they work a lot better with one. I engineered the Diesel Engine, so try one and you will notice a huge difference

The ECU can remap and run without one, but it take of 25bhp when remapping.

    Thanks

  • or maybee a injector problem

  • I say from experience it needs new glow plugs and let it warm up a bit.

  • found the problem. i have a dodgy MAF.

she runs sweet now without one.

sdi's dont even need them dont know why they put them on lol.

    cheers.

  • that's ok then easy fix they are normally a very reliable engine.

  • It is for a diesel exhaust gas recirculation
