  • Getting home from work on a friday to watch and listen to the tube whilst getting ready to hit the town, boy did it pissoff my parents, bloody fantastic times.

cool - one of the favorite songs of mine

  • Fucking mime??

  • @i4zetec

Not a mime dude. That guy was an early freestyler- or " Popper " as they call em nowadays. Hell- maybe he was going for the mime look, but that dude could dance for sure.

  • All the Way Depeche Mode Rocks!!!!

  • i like the 8 track recorder in the back !

  • Shia Labeouf can play Dave Gahan in a movie. If he can dance like that, that is.

  • Depeche Mode for me will always be synth heavy tracks like this, thanks to Alan Wilder.

  • I heard the robot fellow is now fat, bald, and has ulcers.

  • @Mark98gt I don't have ulcers!

    Its just acid reflux.

  • Just to be a nitpicker, this is definitely 1982 and not 1983! But great clip and fantastic quality, thanks for uploading!!

  • Wow they had to work so hard! How cute were they, with that semi-interested audience who boast about being there now I bet... anyone remember 'robotics'?

  • A guy in white gloves doing the invisible wall and el boogie wave! It does not get cooler than that!

  • gary numan and then depeche on the same tv programme? I wanna go back in time. damn, why was i born 30 years late?

  • @steelrain88 i was really fortunate to leave school in 81 , so yes it was a briliant times , the music was brilliant , the clubs were about dressing up and having fun , trully amazing , as a result i ended becoming a deejay for 10 years and got as much out of the experience as i could - no regrets , and yes i'd also love to go back

  • Chinos and Button downs and art...

  • they are soooooo cute!!

But how are those dancing?? :))))

  • Damn Fletch was useless even back then.

  • Dave looking a little preppy here lol.

  • DM THE BEST

  • You know, it looks a bit like playing for a prom.

  • I saw the original video of this song a few days ago in VH1 but I haven't found it here. :(

(sorry for my english.. I'm italian)

    I'm addicted to DM!!!

  • Official video is very good!) I like colorful faces in it))

  • I wish I was there ;(

  • Was that Alan singing the "I don't wanna play" line in the chorus? It probably was... But I'm not for sure...

And at 1:47... Sounds like Dave said something... What was it?

  • Ahh.... The evolution of a band ='p

  • Gary Numa and Depeche Mode on the same bill! Halcyon Days!

  • After watching this a few times I can't help but notice how funny Fletch and Dave's butts look in those trousers lol.....

  • @cherry88 yeah, they must have been a little too in to Dexy's Midnight Runners

  • I saw Depeche Mode live at Reuion Arenna in Dallas in 1987. it was great.

  • wahnsinn

  • Saw them many times live in the 80's

Superb... One of the things I can be proud of being over 40.....lol

  • Me too, should hang out sometime, many stories to tell

  • Man, the 80's-nothing more bizarre than that time, but great to look back on in all it's strangeness. Look at how baby-faced Dave is lol, I want to pinch his cheeks. So adorable. I love his dance moves too, he gets so into it

  • Depeche Mode = Legends!

    80s = Best Decade

I miss the Tube. Please come back.

  • yeah but could you imagine the crap that would be on it - boy bands doing shit dance routines, girls trying to warble their voices like whitney Housten, i think we're better with the memories

  • Comment removed

  • that keyboard got a good hard pounding

  • I spotted a Boy George look alike in the crowd, lol. Look at time 2:24.

Wow, Dave looks so young by the way.

  • i wish i was there .. at least the band contained the 4 of them .. and they were still young :D

  • how i would love to go back in time and attend this :)...

  • haha, the punks/deathrockers in the center of the audience.. :D God, how I'd like to have a time machine to go back there for some fun time. even the mainstream looked better. :S I probably have a distorted view on the 80s because I wasn't even born yet but I would prefer hits like You spin me round over I kissed a girl or anything by the Jonas B. anytime xD mainstream today just SUCKS.

  • hard:)

  • So much better than when Martin Gore sings it. Gore is a great backing vocalist, but not a lead singer.

  • What a flashback.... Great video.

To the young fans watching that perhabs were not even born at the time: This is what the pop scene looked like in the early eighties. Considering what the youth looks like today it is not wise to pass any harsh judgements. Alan is just sooo cool...

  • This is one of my favourite DM songs..

I think it's a shame that they doesn't play this song anymore, in the original new-wave version, at live shows :-( :-(

    I love new wave!

  • I agree, I wish they played some of their really old stuff. I want to see Dave and DM do "See You Again" Live now.

  • what was this a halloween party?

  • Nope it appears to be England's early days with new-wave.

  • Oh, cool! Right on!

  • The mime dancer is a dork. He should only do that at home alone,in front of a mirror.

  • great music! great DM! the best gruop! happy to be there in that great age! just 16een!!!

  • Great himn of eighties.......5stars.

  • good to see all the classic new wavers in the crowd

  • thanks for posting

  • Check out Synthesizer Tribute to Depeche Mode!!!

  • As usual, Dave is always swinging his hips on stage. The audience is having their fun as usual in any live DM performance.

    5*

  • love this song ! all time classic when they were at heir best

  • I really like Depeche mode's early stuff much more. The first 6 albums are fantastic. This song is classic....

  • lol@ the girl wearing the trashbag and the robot dancer.

  • Is that Prince Harry on the left hand synth ?

  • Ha ha...

  • first time av seen this clip, amazing!!!! not allowed to watch the tube when i was younger, this is classic mode

  • LAWLMIME.

  • WOW!!! What a party!!!

  • Putain !!!! Que c'est bon de voir ça ! Géant, du vrai live à la TV !!! Quelle époque, quelle nostalgie, groupe de légende, chanson excellente... C'est de l'or cette vidéo...

    Merci, merci, merci !

  • Exactement! Meme au top of the pops c est du playback.T as entendu les pti bouts de songs du new album("wrong" et "peace")?

  • the funny thing is that dave and alan actually look pretty stylish for even today given that the 80s stuff is somewhat back in styles. plaids n such. khakis

  • I love this song and the video, but the dude doing the robot makes it even better. 10/10

  • just babies with their little casios, too cute! who knew what a great success they would be today? this is one legendary band right here, and my most favorite ever!

  • Ha ha... what a comment!!!

  • they didn't use shitty casios

  • Gotta love those 80's fashions! Check-out the body-popping guy - ha! ha!

  • I love dM kocham dM Ai shiteru dM

  • awesome performance

  • Great stuff, i could watch Alan Wilder play keyboards all day he looks as though he was enjoying himself there...

  • Depeche mode will never leave in silence.

  • Yes, but I think words are very unnecessary. They can only do harm.

  • What a jem of a totally 80's performance by DM! Love it!!

  • can u put more of this concert??? plz

  • Sorry i don't have more than this

  • AJJAJAJAJA!!!

    No sabias qyo estaba aca?

EN LA COS MO GO NI A!

  • The guy doing the robot at 2:17 is awesome.

  • Thanks for sharing. Martin Gore plays a PPG Wave 2 and Alan Wilder is performing live on a Roland Jupiter 8

  • That's a true live. I like when TV shows let the bands play live.

    Thanks for sharing.
