  • if they expanded the cfl more... it might compete with hockey here in Canada

  • Also I'm not saying it's the toughest sport ever -- but you really need to comprehend that just because you have padding, doesn't make it physical, tough or hard sport to play. With these pads and helmets, these players are also able to perform and go for hits that a Rugby player simply wouldn't do, like leading with your head which can be a pretty vicious hit.

  • This is were you go when you cant play in the NFL and they wont let you into college

  • @devonwa1 these guys are better than college players besides they are too old to be in college

  • I like Canada but thats just dum I'm sorry but American football is better

  • Comment removed

  • awesome league, far more entertaining than the amerikan version.

  • why would that be considered a point????

  • Cfl fuckin lame

  • @grovegardenmess haters gonna hate

  • Comment removed

  • The fuck is this, football and rugby mixed together?

  • @irishdude7524 Get a clue. Read a history of American Football before making such a comment.

  • What a dumb ass rule. CFL is a joke.

  • What are they doing kicking the ball back and forth at eacthother i play real american football

  • @croymama No, you play a lame, bastardized version of Rugby: complete with armor, so that you can't get your precious, little bodies hurt.

  • @mwidunn I've played both and the hits in American Football definitely leaves just as, if not more of an impact on the body then in Rugby.

Search rugby vs american football sports science

  • @evspatsfan22 If the hits are comparable, then there's really no reason for the armor in American Football, is there? One group of players plays their sport both sides (offense-defense), full-time, with no padding; the other doesn't. 'Nuff said.

  • @mwidunn American football hits are harder. Enough said. I guarantee, without any equipment, everyone would be fucked up.

  • @mwidunn Just watch the video before you make dumb comments. They're not comparable. If you watched the video, you'd realize American Football players delivered hits that were 3 times harder than Rugby players. But Rugby players hit more often so they even out at the end of the day. But the hit from the American player was equivalent to a car crash at 35 mphs/56 kmh, it also pushed in their sternum to their spine by 2 and 1/4.

  • @mwidunn And before you spout bullshit about the LA rugby team -- keep in mind they used some no name CB also. Put in Demarcus Ware,James Harrison, or Ndamukong Suh and that number is WAY higher. Both sports are tough, just realize they're actually NOT comparable. Besides, American Football is based a lot around strategy, and injuring star players doesn't do anything to help the sport. The pads help dissipate the force, avoiding injury, but there's still a LOT of force and pain involved.

  • @Redemptionx7 Maybe, armor IS necessary in case one of those fat, bloated, oxygen-sucking offensive linemen falls on you: youtube[dot]com/watch?v=azQ7K6JxSlc. American Football is a tedious spectacle that tries to pass itself off as much more physical than it really is. Take the armor off; play both ways for a full 60 min. with severely limited subs; and, don't stop the clock. Do those and, then, maybe American Football is on its way to being respectable.

  • @mwidunn I tried your link, however it didn't work.

They need armor because as I said -- a hit by a no name CB is equivalent to a 35 mph car crash. If that's not physical, I'm not sure what is. If you don't like American Football that's fine, but stop being so ignorant by saying It's not respectable, as if it's not already a multi-billion dollar industry with hundreds of millions of fans. You call it tedious spectacle, and we find reptitive running back and forth tedious. It's all subjective.

  • @Love4SK Actually the NFL has several franchsies that date back to the 20's, they just go by different names now. In the US, College Football was the big attraction until around the 30's when college players started making the transition to the pro game, from there the NFL began to grow in popularity.

  • The point on a missed FG is one of the CFL's dumbest rules IMO.

  • wtf is this?!

  • Did anyone else see Noel Prefontaine get knocked down @ 0:43? xD

  • Why is this called football

  • wtf did i just watch

  • This game looks so complicated

  • omg canadian players are small lol

  • @Fr3aKiNRiCaN1107 players that are 6'4" are small?

  • @SuperVancouverBC idk they didnt look so big to me. muscle wise 2. but i dont watch this alot so i shouldnt judge. plus i actually think this is more exciting than football over here in america lol. we shuld do it this way

  • I SWEAR TO GOD the next person that posts "What is this! Why are the kicking! I'm so confused (and can't read the hundreds of times it's already been explained in the comments) so instead I'll just make blanket comments about Canada being weird!" I'm going to go fucking bonkers.

  • Alright, i only watch the nfl, can someone please explain to me what the hell just happened?

  • @theevilm1 In the CFL, a point is rewarded to the kicking team on a missed field goal, unless the ball hits the upright or is brought out of the end zone by the opposing team. In this case, Toronto had to get the ball out of the end zone in order to send the game to OT. Also, there are no "fair catches" in the CFL. Instead, the kicking team has to give five yards of seperation between the ball carrier and the tackler, or else they get penalized.

  • @theevilm1 The kicking team would have won the game, even if the kick was missed. The defense had to get the ball out of the endzone one way or another, they could run it out, or they could kick it back out. They chose to kick it out, and if they would have been able to take control of the ball, after kicking it out, they would win the game. They weren't able to, and the kicking team fell on the ball in the endzone resulting in a td.

  • At 1:58 and beyond looks like a bunch of cut wide receivers from a semi-pro team in Georgia or something haha

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?! i love it :>

  • As an American... "Actually kicking a football? Lolawesome! haha he said oot again. AW SHIT THERE'S A BLACK GUY IN CANADA!!!"

  • Cfl looks wierd

  • menacing black guy at 0:27

  • What the hells with all the kicking?? CFL is weird. NFL yeeeeah!

  • CFL athletes play like NCAA athletes..nonetheless NFL is way better

  • @ilubsti I kind of agree. But Anthony Calvillo of Montreal is good.

  • Yea no shit nfl is better its the real football

  • 0:26 what the fuck is wrong with his eye!!!!!!

  • @ColdSixOneFour Nothing...? Looks like yours or mine or anyone else's...

  • TN American here, CFL is awesome. This game-ender is awesome. Ignore the self-centered elitist assholes.

  • That was interesting, to say the least...

  • I'm American(Southern) and I love the CFL. It's a different game and that's what I love about it.

  • Check out CFL News on your android for all the latest news around the league on the go!

  • this is so fucking stupid....

  • What the fuck am i watching

  • wtf why the hell are they kicking the ball so many times soooo confused i think ima go smoke a bowl my head hurts

  • this is rugby, not football...

  • @stackguy5674 No?????? This the Canadian Football League, it's confusing and I'm gunna try and figure this shit out.

  • @kjred1796 Canadian football allows kicks anywhere on the field, not just from a snap -- it's a weird rule, rarely used. If the Montreal (in white) field goal was no good, but the ball went out of the back of the end zone anyway -- or if Toronto (in blue) downs the ball in their end zone -- Montreal gets a single point and wins the game. So, Toronto's going to try to get the ball back out any way it can, preferably by running it out or, as seen here, kicking it back out (which is legal). Fun!

  • @kjred1796 ik i was being sarcastic

  • WTF IS THIS?!?!?

  • why do you care which is better?

CFL has better players than NCAA, many NCAA players try and fail as CFL players, but lots of people still love NCAA.

Its still exciting football even if the nfl has better paid athletes.

The best sports game I ever went to was a high school basketball game.

Elitists can pull their sticks outta their behinds.

  • @Love4SK chicago cardinals, and many college football teams. i can sit down and name 'em all when u want me too.

  • CFL RULES GO BC LIONS :)

  • @Love4SK American football teams date back to the 1860s and 1870s.

  • gay as shit usa football is the shit

  • what the f. is this

  • How many passes to the endsone bounce off the post

  • @thepapers100 i have watched a lot of cfl games in the past few years and so far i have never seen a pass bounce off the post..............but i have seen players do it

  • this is awesome! lol Canadian football looks like a lot of fun!

  • The CFL has been around longer than the NFL. The Grey Cup (CFL Championship Game) will celebrate its 100th year on 2012. I'm an American, live in Chicago and a Bears fan but I also know that American Football was derived from Canadian Football.

  • @fpsrv1 You do realize that college football has been played either as long or longer than Canadian Football right?

  • @GoongalaGoongala not possible

  • @0:27 look at the guys eye.....

  • @vgcancino u retarded? Cfl came out in '58 and nfl came out in the '20s. Nfl came out first. And who cares about global popularity? Soccer is actually extremly boring to watch. Football - Soccer.

  • @Iliketheravens You're partially right. The FFL's Grey Cup has been around for a 100 years but the modern CFL didn't come into existance until the middle of the 1900's. Before then College teams along with semi-pro teams would compete for the Grey Cup.

  • @eddiehatch i'm sorry your dumbass warped American brain can't handle the FACT that the CFL came around 1st. but what do you expect from an egotistical country that calls all their national champions, World Champs and think the rest of the world watches their sports, which is so far behind soccer in global popularity, it's not even funny.

  • WTF happen. Canadian football sucks

  • @dbnice213 youre mom suck a lot!

  • THEY WILL KICK IT OOT!! BOOT THEY DONT GET IT OOT!!

  • FOR THOSE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND

    1. The NFL moved their goal posts to the back of the end zones in the 1930's, the CFL didn't

    2. The equivalent of a touchback in the CFL during kicks or punts awards the kicking team 1 point.

    3. The kicking team must be 5 yards from the returner when he receives the ball, otherwise its a 5 yard penalty to the kicking team

This was a tie game, the Argo's just wanted the ball OUT of the end zone to go to OT, the Als just needed the ball downed in the end zone to win

  • @quentin98765 Your point 1 isn't correct. The NFL moved their goal posts TO THE GOAL LINES in the 1930's, then moved them back to the back of the end zones in the 1970's.

  • @quentin98765 No no, they didn't move the goal posts back until later. You need to check your facts. They had goalposts at the front of the endzone at least into the 50's from what I've seen from old footage.

  • is this football or soccer

  • i dont get it so if the opposing team touches it i tthe endzone they have to kick the ball out?

  • @555rest no, they can run it out if they want... if the play ends with the ball IN the endzone, its either a single point for Montreal (if a Toronto player is downed in the EZ) or a touchdown (if Montreal recovers it). Either way Montreal wins the game. So, Toronto has to get the ball out of the EZ. Easiest way is to kick it out. Montreal needs to get it back IN (or through) to get the single point. In all the madness Montreal ended up recovering it in the EZ, so its a touchdown...

  • Would a touchback = 1 pt or is that just on punts

  • @firerustdragon only on punts and field goals... if it goes through the back, or the receiver is downed (one way or another) in the endzone, its a single point...

  • @firerustdragon punts and field goals... if receiver is downed in ez, or it goes through ez, its a single point...

  • What the FUCK? Canada has the weirdest fucking football rules.... The fuck was that fucking kick to kick to kick.... I'm so confused....

  • 0:26 Wtf?? is that real??!

  • Comment removed

  • this play right here is what ruins CFL. singles? so stupid. tie game? kick that bitch out the back of the field. its too easy to score in this game. 20 yard endzones??? thats 20X65 yards. 1300 sq yds. 1300! what defense can cover 1300 sq yards? If canadians wanted to rip off the NFL they shoulda made it more skillful. im pretty sure my high school football team could dominate the CFL. Go pats!

  • @superlibster Canadian football was created first. The United States "ripped off" the Canadians, not vice versa.

  • I watch both sports and likes both and they both have their positives and negatives but to the ignorant Americans making comments about this not being real football. CANADIAN FOOTBALL WAS INVENTED FIRST and if it wasn't for the game between McGill and Harvard. The U.S. version of football may not be what it is today or may in fact not even exist! Don't believe me? Look it up in Wikipedia under ."Comparison of American and Canadian football."

  • @vgcancino lol your stupid the NFL was invented in the 20s and the CFL was invented in the 50s

  • @vgcancino wow, wikipedia is a great source. besides does it matter which was invented first, NFL will always be better.

  • @vgcancino You know Wikipedia isnt always true, i could have gone there and changed it to say that.

  • @Rollingvip and any cfl player can fuck you up :L

  • CFL GAY

  • I had no idea what was just going on there until i read the comments lol

  • I'm tired of these close-minded americans who come here only to say CFL sucks

  • @mnbvvvbnm As an open minded individual, I have to say, definitively, that the CFL doesn't suck. It's just super weird and quirky, and its rules seem to be made up on the spot.

  • why do people compare NFL to CFL?? I'm Canadian and I watch NFL games every sunday but I also like how the CFL is different and brings another type of show. Sure most NFL players are better athletes but those who play in the CFL have a real passion for what they do because they aren't paid that much and still keep playing.

  • @mnbvvvbnm This is like an American high school football team with the organization and logistics. Let's not forget we have college football for the passion you mention. Furthermore we have dozens of semi-pro league players that don't get paid shit but they keep playing. Also I think the Arena Football League has a better chance than the CFL

  • @dirty30yo in Canada we don't give as much importance to football as you do in the US even tought it's growing in popularity. That's why we don't have huge stadiums and media coverage. Still, the games are nice to watch there's more big plays because the field is bigger you should try watching it. All I'm saying is americans should stop getting offended when they see this, be open minded. And if you don't like it just don't say it sucks it's a matter of taste

  • @dirty30yo P.S. Giants all the way babe

  • Comment removed

  • canadian football looks stupid.

  • WTF was that! I don't get this.....never even heard of the CFL until today but I thought it was like the NFL

  • i prefer the NFL, Im from Canada, i just cant get into CFL football, i dont mind it. In highschool and in College here, anyway, we play a hybrid football game which is pretty cool, its 12-12 with 4 downs, and the 1 point with a missed field goal and such. It works well. What i dont like about the CFL is that these guys are pro athletes.. and they arent getting paid properly, i just read the avrage salary is like 100k..average salary for a rookie in the nfl is 800k or so. thats retarded

  • @XxGoHabsGo31xX They aren't getting paid porperly? Dude, pro athletes in the states are over paid if you asked me. Think about it, these guys are entertainers playing a game and they make millions. They make more than people who have jobs that are actually important. Teachers, Fireman, Police Officers etc.

When the world ends, being a star football player won't be considered a desirable skill.

  • @GoongalaGoongala I agree. What i was trying to get across was more of; if you had the choice of the NFL or CFL, might as well take the NFL; same sport, more money and arguably a higher caliber of play. These dudes are over-paid. I don't think my cousin who plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins is worth a couple million but fuck, good for him.

  • what the fuck canada

  • you're all fags

  • NFL>CFL

  • I thought it was like the Nfl. -___-

  • oh, now I get it...

  • this is non sense rules.. I see a guy 1 yard away from the last kicker... and they call that a punt? that's a scuffle

  • What the hell did I just watch?

  • Pause at 0:26 for crazy black man eyes.

  • CFL is fucking gay this ain't soccer. NFL all day hoe!!!!

  • CFL is weird compared to American Football. All I'm thinking is WTF?

  • Are they dancing?

  • Canadians are dumb look at the size of the dang endzone and they have the fg post in the front stupid retards whats the point of that so the kicker can actualy make fgs or so the qb can throw it through for 3 NFL all the way

  • @K1llJ0Y94 The point of the field goal posts being in front is that it allows kick returners to bring out a missed field goal for a return. It's much better than a lame-ass touchback...

  • @Magnifico35 im pretty sure antonio cromartie of the nfl returned a missed fg for a 108 yard td so thats a lame excuse

  • @K1llJ0Y94 I was aware of that... The point is that it happens verrrrrrry rarely

  • @Magnifico35 YEAH BC THE KICKERS DONT MISS THAT OFTEN IN THE NFL RETARD THEY DONT KICK FGS IF THERE NOT GOING TO MAKE THEM

  • @K1llJ0Y94 Lame excuse. If you look at the stats, you'll see that the kicking percentages are very comparable to one another. The top-end kickers in the NFL might be better, but look past the top four and you'll see that the numbers are very similar.

  • @Magnifico35 most of the time fg are done when there in range if someone has enough room to return in then the kicker is out of range so fgs are kicked in range so theres no return

  • Comment removed

  • @K1llJ0Y94 ignorant people need to have their internet privileges revoked.

  • this @Love4SK guy talks so much shit about americans fact is canada is gay thats why they havent made it ne were in sports have they? no didnt think so butt hurt thats all u r CFL and canada can lick my mexican ball sack and my american ass! haha

  • Needs more Benny Hill theme! LMAO

  • WTF is this? Lmfaooo

  • At least they are adding more "foot" in football.

  • CFL is gay

  • Wow Toronto can't win dick in any sport.

  • 27 damm look at that eye

  • @Love4SK lol really? i'm not even gonna comment on this because it would take to long to prove most of your points wrong. the only reason your involved in our current battles is because of the UN which is based where? you don't always fight in our wars, we don't lose all wars (revolutionary war smart one????) yeah we invaded canada ya we were pushed back, because you had BRITISH troops defending. you don't solo fight all wars we are involved in. that's just the beginning.

In this case, the Argonauts had to get the ball out of the end zone in order to send the game to OT. Also, "fair catches" don't exist in the CFL. Instead, the team kicking the ball needs to give 5 yards once the kick returner has possesion.

Will everyone please like this comment so it appears on top and people will stop asking?? Thanks!

  • @Magnifico35 ...I still don't understand.

  • Comment removed

  • @Magnifico35 Isn't is true that not only a field goal but also a punt that is not brought out of the end zone is worth one point? So, at the end of the game needing one point why not just punt the ball out of the back of the end zone? Or do I have the rule wrong? Thanks for the great explanation.

  • @plokmji Yes, you're correct... But a field goal attempt probably isn't as risky as a punt simply because that way you have a chance to get 3 points (with no return) even if it doesn't travel 55 yards (which would be the required distance for the ball to travel the entire end zone in this case), plus a punt seldom travels more than 50 yards...

  • Fact:

This is the first CFL footage I have seen.

    Fact:

This is the last CFL footage I will see.

  • Did he try to miss the field goal?!? That would have simple for any NFL kicker. I don't understand, why are they kicking it back out of the endzone? The only thing good that's come from Canada is Jon Lajoie, look him up.

  • I've watched American football - BORING

Canadian football is WAY more exciting. If u disagree, then watch this video again.

  • @smokey0825 I did, and it's fucking retarded.

  • i dont get cfl

  • CANADIANS PLEASE STICK TO YOUR OWN SPORT LIKE HOCKY, INSTEAD OF TURNING BEAUTIFUL AMERICAN GAME INTO SHIT...GET IT STRAIGHT IM NOT AMERICAN, IM FRENCH POLYNESIAN STUDENT IN AMERICA, AND LOVE NCAA NFL NBA.................. NHL WELL WE'LL GIVE THAT TO YOU CANADIANS. OH ONE MORE THING........... NOUS VOULONS UN QUÉBEC INDÉPENDANT.....LIBRE AU QUÉBEC.

  • @k4n3n1 Euh... Comment est-ce que ton dernier commentaire a rapport avec cette vidéo??? Anyways, why the hell do you feel the need to criticize a league that has saved so many great athletes' careers by rising them out of the oblivion and giving them a chance to succeed? I'm sure Cam Wake, Warren Moon, Doug Flutie, Mike Vanderjagt, and an endless amount of others would differ...

  • CFL IS GAY...
