Not many people realise that if you draw a line through Mexborough, it's actually the centre of South Yorkshire in terms of Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley. I have always said that Mexborough is the heart of northern soul. Sod Wigan.
Great pictures of all the people I know so well. Wish I had taken the opportunity to capture so many characters past and present. Maybe next time.
I'm off out, with my big bandaged foot, to the Opera House soul night in Bournemouth tonight so tomorrow I will try and put your tips into action on my photos! Wish me luck LOL. Have a great Soul weekend yourself. Sole Ole?
hi karen, use the 'saturation' scale in photo shop, sometimes i distort them with contrast and bring them back again with saturation, this can give almost a cine-film effect which is what i'm trying for. XX
No probs. here it is again from what I can remember.
Lookin at the average age in this vid just proves that Northern never was a fad. For the true soulsters it hooked have never left, or have come back, to their roots. No other music scene can boast such committment.
Although I'm a Lincs lad I always enjoyed being around the South Yorks crowd. You always knew where you stood with 'em.
