  • glass didn't break...

  • is that glass bulletproof or what!

  • imagine what it would look like with francium

  • Now I know why I should be offended when someone says go put some K in a glass of water and drink it.

  • Now try swallowing 10 grams of K

  • Weird vid kinda in the middle between liking it and disliking it

  • who got bored and searched explosion?

  • And that is how you make a Pan-Galactic Gargle blaster.

  • "This video was made with material purchased with donations"...

People donated so you could blow things up?!

    .....COOL!!!!

  • depth charge?

  • holy crap at 0:40!

damned pitcher flew right through the plastic container!

How much force was behind that?

  • Come on man... let's try 16g :D

  • How about telling me who this music is by.

  • Good music

  • That mug is a boss

  • In copius quantites, why is the colour of the flame not lilac?

  • if thunderfoot played team fortress 2, his favorite class would be demoman.

  • Whoa.

  • That is so cool! can't wait for the update!

  • Great post thunderf00t, I congratulate you for your achievement in this clip.

Your application of science shines a light on the 1st amendment and indeed the freedom of publication.

    Kudos.

  • How many bananas did it take to do that?

  • Thats a good quality pitcher.

  • How is this a teaser?

  • Why would 26 people dislike this, it's just potassium reacting with water... What the fuck seriously. It happens, deal with it.

  • @Blodslav Yeah, but, there's all the religous nuts who think that this sort of naturalistic science, experimentation and observation is satanic. Don't you get it! your not allowed to think!! Read the bible, this is all evil evil evil!!! I tell ya!!!!

    Lol....

  • @connchri These people are fucked in the head.

  • I wonder if using molecular kinetic theory could explain the rate of reaction versus the rate of thermal expansion. The more reactant you put in there, the more kinetic energy it creates and eventually hits a point where the reactant has too much KE (exploding) and it just kinda blows itself out of the reaction.Perhaps a deeper water receptacle is needed to compensate the distance created by the KE given off by the reaction...does that make sense?

  • @illumined1 A vessle containing the potasium in a water tight container, say 3m deep into water. Then having some way of releasing the potassium from the container into the water.

I'd be more interested to see the reaction with pulverised potassium. Imagine the reaction with water with such a huge surface area!

  • @connchri I'm not sure I would be interested to see that too. I'd guess it would generate lots of heat and hydrogen but maybe not that explosion. I would like to see a large chunk in deep water because it seems that the thermal energy that ends up melting the K in the first place is what blows it apart. Consider as it is blowing apart in more water, the KE would increase. The powder is interesting though, would generate lots of H really fast.

  • @connchri I've actually never heard of a 'powdered' alkali metal, seems like it would be really dangerous to make and store.

  • @connchri No, you'd see a similar effect as the one pictured, regardless of depth.

I would suggest Potassium, in a powdered form (If possible? Perhaps done under oil) around a small explosive charge (I'm imagining something simple, like gunpowder) under water.

I know alittle about chemistry and explosive, but I imagine even a gram of powdered potassium under water would make a pretty impressive show! (Explosion? Dependant on depth. Fireball? Probably. Fizzy water? Maybe)

  • Throwing a solid block of 8g potassium into a river/lake/pond is pretty good too - you can see the thing just dancing about and making a pretty light (unfortunately usually tainted yellow due to sodium being everywhere).

  • Am I the only one who had a pyromanic grin stretched across my face?

  • Coooooooooooooool !

  • He blinded me...WITH SCIENCE!

  • Freaking awesome!

  • damn - this stuff would be a great cocktail-ingredient.... Go for a Martini Boom!

  • They should do a big bang episode with TF in it lololol.

  • 2K + 2(H{2}O) => 2KOH + H{2}

The heat released is sufficient to ignite a hydrogen-oxygen reaction which can be rather explosive. ;)

  • It's a miracle the thing just blew up!

  • all other countries have, inferior potassium! kazachstaaaan kazachstaaaan!

  • So my friend was like "hey man, tell me a good joke about potassium", So i was like "K".

  • @Dusty594 HAHAHHAAHasasdyhHAHhHh

  • @Dusty594 Hehe, that's pretty good!!

  • @Dusty594 i found this to be hilarious and cute, i lol'd irl :)

  • @Dusty594 You have just won ONE(1) Internets.

  • @hyperdude144 why thank you... I now haz THREE(3) internets =D

  • @Dusty594 Oh dusty594 , you so random

  • @Dusty594 some kid when i was in high school that this was a cool experiment so he stole some potassium frome science class and put it in his pocket on the way home it started to rain next thing u know the stuff explodes in hiss poket we were the last class at that high school to get that demonstration lol =3-

  • Get on with the Cesium and stop this childplay.

  • obsidian jug...

Still can't believe no one aver made bullets out of potassium

  • @Felhaven They have better explosive ammo

  • @Th3Sh1n1gam1 True. but a grenade ful of potassium peletts would sting a bit

  • amazing..

  • Press 5 and 7 for repeat enjoyment (esp. 5) :D

  • So, that jug... It's kryptonite, right? Or diamond?

  • Very cool... but what if instead of a big lump you dropped a small net of granules of the same mass. Wouldn't that intensify the reaction by increasing the reactive surface area?

  • @adabaon That thing blasted through the tray it was standing on... and you want to make it even more intense? ;) hahaha!

  • Hey, Thunderfoot:

How about making a video where you explain how you were able to manufacture a jug made from TRANSPARENT TITANIUM!

  • Super jug!

  • @Mimi2591 Yes this would be an excellent marketing video for whoever made it lol

  • Nice, man. I requested this one didnt think you could get a hold of that stuff. Its incredible.

  • I'm thoroughly impressed at the amount of energy being expelled downward, enough to shatter the plastic tub that its sitting on. Its something I never would have thought about, and yet it makes perfect sense as to why that would happen.

  • My water's on fire!

  • That baddass jug got shot down through the container it was placed on, I know they're not strong but still thats some hefty force being fire up from that jug.

  • Get something. Put something in water. Post.

  • Brotassium is a pretty cool guy.

  • @FuckYouYouFuck ; Yeah, bit of an explosive personality though.

  • Is this and advert for a unbreakeble jug?

  • poor plastic box.

  • Hope you didn't need to use that plastic box for anything.

  • and exactly what are ya gonna get from this.....bombs?

  • t foot what would happen if it was really deep in the water ?

  • What is this? Mentos and Sprite?

  • this is freakin cool

  • Anyone got a sciencey explanation for why the pitcher isn't being blown to smithereens? I get that it directs the force, but if the plastic thing it's standing on is being smashed by the explosion, why not the pitcher?

  • @dbryantmsed It's a smashproof canister. He mentions it in the description.

  • @dbryantmsed The reason why the jug of water dosn't crack is because it's a shatter resistant lab jug. It'd been made with the purpose of holding dangerous chemicals and containing explosions.

  • That contraption looks like the thing they used to kill Godzilla.

  • Nice! Now let's see 40kg :)

  • This same reaction happens in the pants of priests who see little boys...

    (☞ ^ ヮ^)☞

  • I will download and store this video so one day I can show it to my kids and say "look, if you study science you can do this all the time!"

  • the pitcher itself didn't shatter .. weird

  • @ketrel815 my guess is the pitcher didn't shatter because it shaped the force downwards where the container it was standing on acted as a cushion for it, absorbing most of the force put on the bottom of the pitcher.

  • @ketrel815 read the description

  • @TAz69x I'm pretty sure shatter resistant doesn't include having 8 grams of potassium dunked in side of it..

  • So... Anyone else suddenly getting the urge to go into chemistry?

  • Chuck-Norris-Mug

  • Oh how you taunt us so!!!!!!

  • Powerfull! hummm :)

  • That's how Jesus' COCK exploded when Mary SUCKED on it.

  • @lotanddaughters Wasn't Mary Jesus' moth.... oh... oh... I see of course the prostitute.

  • TEASE

  • thats almost identical with the chemical reaction between 1 gram of coughlonium

when in contact with one litter of liquefied work-o2...

  • Beware of falling rocks

  • Yo, Tf00t, I'd like to get a bigger sample of your music playlist. Some of it sounds pretty good.

  • Disclaimer: No Plastic Tubs Were Harmed In The Making Of This Teaser

  • @Merik2013 No, one plastic tub was harmed in the making of this video.

  • @justtryharder actually, a lot were, and I'm a horrible liar.

  • Imagine if u were a coke dealer and u used potassium as ur cut??? "This shit will blow your mind"

  • niiiiiiiice...

  • Thumbs up if you want to see Ray Comfort eat 10g of Sodium!

  • @calmreason I'd prefer he'd do it anally for our amusement.

  • Are you still blowing up Qu'rans, thunderf00t?

  • @juliaisafilmbuff123 why not blow it up, no different from any other fictional story book.

  • @teedonster2 True that.

  • That was brilliant. The experiment ends up looking like a controlled demolition device with the way it punches through that container! Nice one.

  • But will it blend?

  • Sooo, theoretically at least, I could blow up a car with a banana!

  • @RadarKat73080 um.. average banana has like 500mg if i remember correctly.... so you could maybe knock the rear view mirror out of wack at best :P

  • I think I need to get some potassium.

  • what happens if you use a lot more like 10 kg?

  • @MrBrotmafia kaboom

  • I cant believe the jug survived that...

  • @Baltican We can now trust Chinese products!

  • @Tsicar This deserves death metal.

  • @Phelan666 Death metal deserves to be blown up with potassium.

  • @ihurtmyarm And so should you.lol

  • @ihurtmyarm fcuk you niggar

  • whoa. that was cool.

  • Awesome! Keep it out TF!

  • i'm actually more impressed by the mechanical system you've engineered there than by the explosions :D

  • You know something packs a serious punch when it forces a blunt object through a container ^^

  • I think that this looks absolute amazing. I'm really excited for your next video!! Science is just beautiful, not just because of explosions :-).

  • I thoroughly enjoy the music selection as of late on this channel, keep up the good taste and informative videos mate!

  • That was my best jug!!!!

  • What kind of slow-motion camera do you use? I saw one the other day and the price was horrid. I wander if there are any cheaper ones.

  • This is evil I tell you, PURE EVIL !!!!!!111oneone

  • Needs more potassium. :)

  • I saw the title in my activity section and thought I'd come here and leave a sarcastic joke about how you're a foreigner with a beard, a and hard core extremist on the subject of religion, making political and ideological propaganda on the internets, and how you don't seem much different from one of those "muzlim terrist" to me...

and then I saw the top rated comment, implying someone should bomb a location inside the states, and remember to add cult following of extremists to the list.

  • @onlywhenprovoked Uhh..what?

  • @PaperSoapy im not sure what to say to that

    try reading it slower, maybe

  • @onlywhenprovoked So you admit to being a troll, going into a science video to troll about off topic things, and misrepresent everything you see.

Yeah, we know what to look out for now, thanks admitted troll, you represent yourself well.

  • @waltermh111 misrepresenting my own opinion? not very bright, are you?

    try harder.

  • @onlywhenprovoked Wow, I see your problem, you cant read, lol

Sylan learning can help you.read again and try harder to comprehend just what I said. but well, I will help by quoting myself in the relevent part

", and misrepresent everything you see."

Now, lesson for today class, can you see in there where I said you misrepresented your own opinion? or just everything you see?

Or are you trying to use bad english skills to infer something that isnt there?

  • @waltermh111 When I said "try harder" I didn't mean "do your best impression of your third grade english teacher" ... but go on with your bad self.

    you sure told me.

  • @onlywhenprovoked <========|==l poke,poke,poke

  • @kungisans see, at least you have a fuckin sense of humor :)

  • @onlywhenprovoked I was pointing out, that your statement was ridiculous, it was a verbal double take. See cause, it sounded irrational. And I thought, no way, someone couldn't possibly not see the contradiction in that statement. But its okay, contradictory or not, your entitled to it.

  • @PaperSoapy Since we're all apparently playing grammar nazi, I think you meant "you're entitled to it" but thanks for your approval. It's very important to me.

  • @onlywhenprovoked One, I don't believe I corrected your grammar, as lack of spelling and typing ability in no way reflects one intelligence. Secondly, from my statement, you should have garnered that I do not approve. I merely tolerate it, because that's what a reasonable, rational adult does. I merely pointed out that there was a contradiction within your statement. Again, not meant as an attack, or a provocation.

  • You should blow up a kilo of it!

  • @Megamage400 That would be an quite an explosion no increase that by 5 fold. That would be an even larger of one.

  • I offer my highest compliment: "Cooler than Mythbusters".

  • I wonder if that would work in your mouth, or if the impurities in your saliva would make it a dud.

  • @chadd990 nope it would work in your mouth, results would be an exploded face...... the water in ur cells would be used up not to mention be evaporated. please do not try putting any amount of K in ur mouth

  • @slysci5

ok. I said that because I have a bad toothache right now, but that wouldn't be a very good solution. Just wondering. Thats still pretty interesting though.

  • What I want to know is where does he get the Potassium.

  • What's the music?!

  • @thunderfoot TF you're such a cock tease that plastic box got 7 shades of shit beaten out of it awesome stuff!

  • I'm interested in the delivery mechanism you use. It seems so simple, yet mildly complicated to the lay person. Is there a name for it that I can search for further information?

  • That almost seemed to be a propellant more than an explosion. Nice!

  • @iamtherealzim Same thing!!! To propel something you can use a explosion in controlled in a direction lol....

  • What music is this? Nice vid :)

  • @shaithesm0ck ... looking in a description before asking in comments is surely a reasonable way to find something out, yeah?

  • @Maverician sorry, must have skipped over it, tnx

  • Carlsberg don't do science experiments...

  • Please always name the tracks you use!

  • @ScottishAtheist He does, it's in the damn description box.

  • @dylanwhitsell Thank you for making me check back. I don't think it was there when I made that comment. I read the description box looking for it.

  • Thanks! That was great.

  • praise the lord

  • @Evilfisher n pass the ammunition

  • @Evilfisher even satirically, this comment does not deserve to be top rated.

  • @metallicrazy8891 90% of top rated comments of YouTube are "Thumbs up if xxx person brought you here", so even though its shit and barely interesting at all, replying to it is futile.

  • Americans just love explosions... I can't figure why...

Something small goes "boom", lots of gas and light and stuff... Once you've seen one, you've seen em all... it gets very boring, very fast... Unless you're an American. It's in their DNA I guess.

  • @Meurglys33 TF isn't American, he only lives there.
