@Signerdragon123 Thanks! Unfortunately no - the developers had removed most further levels from the demo. They'd apparently learned a thing or two since the Crash Bash demos!
I got it! I hacked my first functional (Ps1) gameshark code with the game Crash Bandicoot 2. finally, I did not use cheat engine to hack theses codes. I used the PEC's cheat engine by pressing ctrl + h during gameplay with Pec plugin in ePSXe. I dont need to convert CE to Pec because the adresses found are complete. I made this code for C.B 2 and it works:
Press L1+Triangle to have 99 Wumpas and 99 lives (work only in Turtle Woods)
I hacked some codes in the Crash B. 2 NTSC vers. (Ps1) Game with the software cheat engine. I found some interesting codes like Wumpa number modifier (cheat engine adress: 00664485) and I put a value like 99 for have 99 wumpas. I would like to use the codes found with cheat engine in psx emulation cheater, but I dont know how to make the code for use it with pec. (I tryed this in pec: 00664485 0063 and it has no effects). What is the correct format of the code?
@ShadowLee19 You need to find the game memory offset, I believe. You can usually do this by finding a code in Cheat Engine, then finding the same one in PEC as well. Then, change the 8 at the start of the PEC code to a 0. Then subtract the PEC code from the Cheat Engine code, and you'll get the "offset". Then you can convert a CE code into a PEC code by subtracting the offset from it (then add the 8), and you can convert a PEC code (first remove the 8) into a CE code by adding the offset.
@Hacczilla Maybe you're only replacing a level partially, e.g changing 01000037 to something else? That might not be enough - you need to replace at least one of the functions, too (if not the whole level definition). I think one of the functions points to a list of models that are loaded for the level, one of these being gnasty.edb. That'll need to be done as well.
Replacing all of the functions has that one extra bonus, too: all beta abilities! Yay!
@LXShadow You're right. I figured that all out the day I posted the message, though. I was just informing you of the boss "missing" because it was a quick hack. I was a bit happy when I found it.
Gnasty Gnor's voice sounds more monstorous in beta. Final Gnasty Gnorc doesn't make monstrous grunts
Gnasty's life bar is different with no black when Gnasty loses red health, plus no picture of him on the right side of the health bar.
Those electrical lights hanging on the wall aren't in the final, including the blue light which is also not in the final. The final has a dark purple exit though.
That being said, if anyone knows of a good web host, with little to no bandwidth limits and a policy that'll allow for a site based on game hacking, please let me know! I have all sorts of things that can't really be recorded on video but can be shown in pictures.
Do you want to create a web site or just store files for sharing? If you want to store file on the web and share them with us, I suggest you Windows live SkyDrive. You have this option with your hotmail account (If you have one) and with SkyDrive, the storage limite is 25 GB. I dont know If they accept game hacking files, but if this storage site interest you, you can go on the web site of SkyDrive and see if that interest you. You can create an account for free if you want.
@ShadowLee19 I would like to make a website- in my own time, however. The problem remains that game hacking is really an awkward subject even if it doesn't lose the companies any money (though I think this sort of YouTube upload comes under fair use). I wouldn't be too comfortable with it.
But thanks for the recommendation anyway- I'm afraid I'm just not ready to make any decisions at this moment.
Some Beta elements of the game are present in this video like the powers icons. It is a demo version of the game or you have hacked this in the complete version of the game? Also, do you know how to hack the hidden level editor of the game Crash Bandicoot WOC? I know that this level editor exist because I view some labels in Ps2Dis like "Crate Editor" but I have a problem with the Joker command to activate It. It is really a joker c. to activate the lvl editor?
This is the demo version of the game, but Eurocom has a habit of leaving more levels in their demos than they should. This is one of them (it's all in the description!).
I actually do have access to the Crate Editor, Particle Positioner, Wumpa Editor, etc in TWoC. I'm really eager to upload the codes somewhere, but I need a webspace for that. I don't know how you're going to use a joker command before implementing the menu open function, though.
Could you send to me your codes of the level editor of Crash Bandicoot WOC by a YouTube e-mail? I would like to have them because I would like to see how they work. Also, I'm going to use a joker command for try to activate the data of the label Crate Editor by pressing a button of the game pad. I dont think that this will work, but I try this method. I would like to have your codes, because I want to compare them with mine and see what is wrong by decrypt them in raw format.
@ShadowLee19 Please understand that game hacking does *not* work that way. You cannot 'activate' the data of a label - labels are data - byte data - that contain readable (or otherwise) characters. You must find the ASM code that accesses the label, and generally use it to track the menu processor. Then you find the best way to modify it in order to access the menus.
I would like to be able to send the codes to you but I really must find a web host so anyone can use them. This I need help with.
Actually, I'm not 100% sure now. Originally I was pretty sure it wasn't available in the NTSC version, but checking the file list again, it might be there. I have no idea at the moment.
@DestroGalacticmon I don't know, but I guess it's possible that Gnasty Gnorc would have ran up to you before whacking the ground with his big spiky thingy. (Maybe he'd have tried to crush you, rather than use shock waves.)
If he ran away from Spyro like in Spyro 1, I'd expect the level to be a bit bigger; but who knows? You'd have to ask Eurocom to be sure.
@LXShadow I know, I know, there would probably be a pathway if he ran away. What I had in mind was exactly what you said first, meaning that he'd come up to give you a smack. Anyhow, I guess tinkering with it won't do any good since it's kinda obvious, so I'll leave it at that. Oh, and, I don't think Eurocom would really bother to answer. :P
@DestroGalacticmon Actually, as of today I can confirm that he did once chase you around the arena before trying to hit you! I've checked the NTSC demo, which also has the boss. He'll chase you around, try to hit you, repeat a few times until he gets mad and gets his masher stuck. Then you flame him.
Thinking about it, the way he tried it a few times until it got stuck made more sense in the NTSC demo. Maybe they changed it because it would be difficult to add new attacks for the later stages.
@yearofthe Well-spotted! I forgot about it, but that shark is on the demo disc too! It's in Dragonfly Falls, near that big pool of water with the piranhas. You could originally go beyond the boundaries there, but the shark would follow you and eventually gobble you up, kind of like the fish in Ratchet & Clank/Jak & Daxter.
Some differences in this video that I can point out include Gnasty's lower voice and some slightly changed attacks. The place isn't surrounded by a pit, either.
@yearofthe I noticed that diffence with the Red boss fight as well. That enviroment at first made me think that the lava would possibly shoot up through the grate and possibly rise so you have to chase Red while avoiding it. Funny enough, that sounded alot better than the final version.
@LXShadow LOL! I don't get it though, in Beta versions of games do they really put that in for cut-scenes when they are not finished? Looks really weird...
cool
can you access the realm teleporter in beta and fight the other beta bosses with the cheats you have?

Do you possibly have a Crash TwinSanity demo to look the full version of the game? I have a feeling there would be a LOT of leftover content.

Hmm... this is in my demo, but there is no boss. Maybe it's because I loaded the level wrong. Not using the menu code. ;)

@1:04 There seems to be a shark. Wasn't in the final game.
@1:11 Just like this, is a beta boss fight, but Red.
Awesome finds. Can't say though what the differences are, because I haven't played this game in a while, but I'm sure to check!
