Well that was the key to Microsoft's success. They could hit a chord with the consumer through advertising, and didn't need a good product for it to sell. It would be nice if people had a little more "independent" thought going on, but then that would like asking a blind man if he can see. Its just not going to happen. ( BTW-I am not having a go at you here, so please don't take offense :) )

Apple went almost down the drain WITHOUT Microsoft's help. Microsoft saved apple when apple started to lose money. Microsoft invested in Apple's stock, and released many programs for Apple. Research before you talk.

You are so defensive about Microsoft that you are blinded by your bias. Another reason why Microsoft helped save Apple might be because by the law the market had to stay competitive so Msoft had no choice but to help Apple otherwise face the wrath of the legal system for which Microsoft has already had a few questionable dealings with.

i think ms ads are better than apple ads in the sense that they don't slam their competitiors right in their face. almost all of the apple ads i've watched have slammed microsoft; it's pretty sad.

I already know that Microsoft in later 2008 early 2009 plan on cutting support for everything under vista, they then plan to realse a new PRE long horn then 2009-2010 Long Horn is to come! But they will hopfuly die by then :P
