This song sounds a lot better with one vocal line instead of two. This one sounds almost cartoonish, or even like Chris Brown decided to join in. Oh well.. dance mixes are usually inferior versions of the originals, I guess (and here by "original" I mean the original Robert Palmer remake of this song).

@gstephensmith Ouch! Where did all that come from? The guy was bang into all kinds of music, playing with different bands/producers since 1969. He changed with the styles and drew inspiration from all kinds of genres; appreciating them all with his unique, slightly reticent performance style. This somewhat tongue-in-cheek video is not what he's all about. You can't be jealous, that would just be stupid. And you came onto this page when you didn't have to...odd!

@gstephensmith Well he did have a career before all that but he probably realized he could be bigger if he cashed in on the MTV thing. No one was going to go crazy for him over his own look or voice or songs so he had to tie in a catch. Thus, he refashioned himself as Bryan Ferry's evil twin, lol.

I like Robert's version and Cherrelle's original for different reasons. I grew up with that Riptide album tho! Bernard Edwards production cannot be denied!! This is the first time I've heard this remix. It's cool to hear all the elements stripped down!
