Terraria how to make a server 1.1.2

it wont work. i set up the server and all but when my friend tries to join it gets stuck on connecting to (IP) and wont actually get on the server plz help

Why do you need hamachi? What purpose does it serve? Also I've been playing on a server with my brother (no hamachi just the server software) and whenever we run the server it knocks our router out and we can't go online. our computers are still connected but not to the internet. Do you have any idea why it might do this?

Help: Ive had a server made and running for a week or so now its been fine for me n my bro to play on. yet all of a sudden upon trying to 'join' the server which i've normally been doing it just says 'connecting' forever, and nothing appears on the server commands like 'so & so is connecting'. Nethertheless 'host & join' still works with the server. And I havent missed an update ect. Is there any solution other than me trying to redownload the server software?

IF it lags get a better connetion or a new computer if your computer has no more space for memory that means your server would lag so try this delet alot of non-necssary items

@dobsy6578 ok i found out how to do it first when you make a server dont host join and upgrade your hamachi to the newest version and make sure you put port 7777 in the sever when it says ports dont just hit enter.

@flamepan Actully I find when that happens have you and your friend ping eachother by left clicking his Hamatchi name then restarting the comp with the "!" error. It happens to me alot.
