  • My Grandfather had this. My Grandmother didn't want a stranger coming into their house putting holes in the wall to install basic cable so he was stuck with this and the roof antenna that was put on the house when it was built. My Grandfather finally convinced her to let him get Dish Network back in 1995 because Baltimore City cable was owned by the now defunct TCI of Baltimore at the time and it stunk. Comcast owns TCI's old Metro Dr. office and cable TV line network and it is way better now.

  • The bad thing about Super TV was that it only came on at night. I used to babysit a couple of boys when I was in high school and after they went to bed, I could watch the softcore porn until their parents came home.

  • I worked at Super TV in Va for almost the entire time it existed...fun people..

  • Who is that cartoon guy huging the Channel 2 logo

  • @Baltimoreman78 That was the Channel 2 mascot that they used for years. For Orioles' coverage, he was wearing an O's cap with the 2 logo

  • I know @UIWWildthing. I'm talking about a name for the character.

  • @UIWWildthing I know thats was the Channel 2 Mascot. What was the mascot's name.

  • How do you like yooour porn? Scrambled!

  • i still have the program guides that used to come in the mail, one has a star trek 2 the wrath of kahn cover and the other has superman 3. Super tv lasted til around 86 til it became obsolete with the onset of cable television...

  • I actually used to live in Maryland, and we got Super TV. I still have tapes that have the Super TV intros to a couple of movies on them. No Jackson 5, though, just the long theme of the generic trumpet music. It's about as '80s as you can imagine, but even so, that logo is awesome.

  • Not much more different than the Pay-TV systems we used to have in Chicago such as ON-TV, Spectrum & Tele1st.

  • I used to jack off to the softcore scrambled porn.

  • People laugh when I say there was Super TV before cable. I'm glad you posted this as evidence.

  • Which I would have seen "that"

  • I remember making a decoder for this back in the day in high school electronics class. Our teacher figured it out and we had some pretty good success.

  • Did your teacher let you take the decoder home and use it on your TV?

  • How long did Super Tv last?

  • Definitely old school, when 301 was the only area code for the state of Maryland. Damn.

"Premium adult entertainment", my ass. I remember smacking the TV late at night to get it to unscramble the images and I'd get clear shots... solarized. That was weird, watching solarized porn, heh.

  • Damn...my folks had this when I was a kid. Me and my buddies would sneak into the living room at night to watch the softcore stuff.

  • Wow. I see a 92 Star logo (the precursor to 92QJams, for those that don't know hehe)

  • SuperTV was the bomb

  • Thanx for posting some promos for SuperTv,been looking for some.We had A similar channel called Preview.

  • do you have more WMAR-TV "Welcome 2 Baltimore" promos from 1983? if so, could you upload them please?
