you know he says "you gotta do everything yourself" then he says "speaking of you know how i got these scars?" I think he was about to reveal that he put the scars there himself or the real story.
It's not just this scene, the whole entire movie, from the moment The Joker came in, Heath Legend did so well. It's fucked up how he took too many pills to play this role.. I wish he was still alive.
When Heath's Joker was thrown over the side, I got chills in the theater because knowing he died just a few months before this was released, it seemed almost surreal to be watching. And it still does feel surreal.
You know everybody talks about how if they ever brought Joker back that Joseph Gordon Levitt should be him because he looks just like Heath and does have the acting chops, but in my personal opinion the only actor off the top of my head that could go as dark and bizarre as Heath did and give you that creepy feeling when he's on screen with his voice alone is Keifer Sutherland.
@JBIaze94 answer. Nope. Watch Jack Nicholson and see how he doesn't fall off a building laughing. He just falls off it screaming. That proves your wrong.
I love how as he's falling he's laughing like, "WOOHOO! THIS IS BETTER THAN A ROLLERCOASTER!" And then when Batman catches him he's like, "YEA---wait. What. I'm not falling anymore. FML, Batman, why are you pulling me back up? You are like the worst superhero ever."
1) Joker's laugh emphasizes his nihilism: not afraid to die, enjoys the thrill of falling.
2) He's also laughing AT Batman :He knows him very well, he knows Batman will at least try to pull him up because his nature stops him from being a murderer. This uncertainty makes him laugh: if Batman kills him, Joker achieved his goal to push Batman to his limits to the point of becoming a murderer - and if he saves him, he's still alive for more fun.
If too much weight is placed upon them... they snap. How does it live, I hear you ask? How does this poor pathetic specimen survive in today's harsh and irrational environment? I'm afraid the sad answer is, "Not very well." Faced with the inescapable fact that human existence is mad, random, and pointless, one in eight of them crack up and go stark slavering buggo! Who can blame them? In a world as psychotic as this... any other response would be crazy!" -JOKER
Ladies and Gentlemen! You've read about it in the papers! Now witness, before your very eyes, that most rare and tragic of nature's mistakes! I give you: the average man. Physically unremarkable, it instead possesses a deformed set of values. Notice the hideously bloated sense of humanity's importance. Also note the club-footed social conscience and the withered optimism. It's certainly not for the squeamish, is it? Most repulsive of all, are its frail and useless notions of order and sanity.
Gives me chills everytime, especially when he thinks he's falling to his death & starts laughing. Like Jack's Joker said: If ya gotta go, go with a smile!" The Dark Knight was awesome, I can't wait for The Dark Knight Rises.
if anyone wants to be an actor they need to watch dark knight. heath carried this movie. he is flawless in every scene. he's always doing something to his character even when he's not talking or moving.
@jwhittle91 I agree, though I also think he was far better than the movie itself. Of his performances that I've seen, though, the one in "Brokeback Mountain" is far better. There, the movie itself was good, and the other acting was very good - and he still stood out.
@albanianx Yeah, but the real hipoint of all his acting, I think, is the expression he makes when he finds out no one's gonna explode the other boat. Ledger really pushes the boundries of acting to express that, I really have no words to describe it!
Damn nice quality
