The Phantom was really underrated movie. Yes, I expected much more action and fight scenes but still it was great movie. Billy Zane was so cute as Phantom. Kristy Swanson and Catherine Zeta-Jones were charming as always.

Actually, I belive the original Phantom was a little more like The Dark Knight. And something like The Lone Ranger also. As Batman was redone and liked better, this could have been done better. They are learning that its not the character, its how they do it.

Zane spent a year working out for this movie. He looked like he could have squashed Michael Keaton's Batman - and I'm saying that as someone who enjoyed Keaton's Batman.

KingCharlon, I agree. If they released it today it would compete with "Spiderman" I think it was promotion of the movie that hurt it. People didn't know it was good or how they would do the film.

The Phantom was the worlds first superhero, created in 1936 by Lee Falk. Interestingly he has no magical powers just like the good old Lone Ranger and both are an excellent shot with hand guns but the Phantom had no sidekick like Tonto. The Phantom works alone.

You are right. I was looking at the first illustration and the Phantom is in very dark blue, later it was black. The purple must have came much later. If they do a new version, Maybe it should be the original dark colors so he can go around at night unseen?

DC did a character called the Blue Beetle that looks a like The Phantom except he was blue.

The purple isent supposed to camouflage him, its supposed to scare people. Its the simboloc color of the Death God Kua, that is workshipped in the jungle.
