@RP101140 But do you see that these "laws" are only there to take money from people? It's about making more money for the city. Not about protecting anyone. Where is the "victim" in these "crimes"? It's unethical and immoral for the most part. They are just "roving tax collectors" looking to use their authority to rip people off. I feel bad for the cops, most of them become police to actually help and protect people, but instead they become pawns in a political games.

@SmokeRingsPipeDreams Well, it depends on which laws you are refering to. I definitely think the fines for breaking NYS Vehicle Traffic Law are a big source of income for the city. Maybe you would be more in favor of a system where in violations (Red Light, Disobey Stop Sign, etc.) would be enforced not by fines but exclusively by adding points to the person's license. We also have to remember that driving is a privelidge, not a right.

@SmokeRingsPipeDreams Actually horse riding as well as horse drawn carriages were privelages that had laws attached to them. Very famously President Grant was issued a speeding ticket for racing his team of horses through main street. As for the victims, Auto accidents kill more people annually then all violent crime combined.
