So the emergency crews can rescue those injured and clean up the freeway from debris that can be potentially dangerous when a vehicle going 70+ MPH rolls over broken glass or pieces of metal. The second wreck pretty made it unsafe for anyone trying to take care of the situation. How would you feel if you were the fire fighter or the police officer helping those injured? Imagine if you were the person injured bleeding to death. Do you want to bleed to death or have someone rescue you?

I'm happy that there wasn't an innocent family on the other side of the road coming along when the disabled vehicle was catapulted into on coming traffic on the side of the road. There fortunately seems to have been a nice extended break in traffic over there.
This type of accident reminds me to be vigilant, leave lots of room in front of me and really pay attention. It can happen in that one moment of distraction to any one of us.

What car? I think you're misinformed... If you're hit from behind your head never will go forward hence never reaching an airbag. Even if for some reason the airbag were to pop out it would do much more harm than good (effectively 2 impacts, it would break your neck). Cars can only tighten the seatbelts to pull you into the seat and have the headrests pop forward to support your neck and head. Anything beyond that is just not possible even with the safest of cars

I was simply asking the question.. What is it with american freeways cus i see alot of these type of crash videos.. but not many at all from the uk are they poorly lit or something.... or do they suffer from alot of standing water causing glare???
Just wanted to know from someone who might of had a technical answer....
And america was colanized quite recently by mostly europeans .

A little flash back with the last comment. When I was a kid in third or fourth grade, we started a thing of passing notes that said the above. Course for me, it was to boys I thought were cute. So the emergency crews can rescue those injured and clean up the freeway from debris that can be potentially dangerous when a vehicle going 70+ MPH rolls over broken glass or pieces of metal. The second wreck pretty made it unsafe for anyone trying to take care of the situation. How would you feel if you were the fire fighter or the police officer helping those injured? Imagine if you were the person injured bleeding to death. Do you want to bleed to death or have someone rescue you?

@Tj1056 Yes but since the front of the car is smashed the front lights are obviously off. The car is turned the wrong way so it's not visible in the dark

I'm happy that there wasn't an innocent family on the other side of the road coming along when the disabled vehicle was catapulted into on coming traffic on the side of the road. There fortunately seems to have been a nice extended break in traffic over there.
This type of accident reminds me to be vigilant, leave lots of room in front of me and really pay attention. It can happen in that one moment of distraction to any one of us.

Yayo, what a racist you are. Western or not, the lady doesn't know how to drive. Why would she crash into a car that is clearly visibly in the road from five blocks away. She had her headlights on and her brights. She couldn't see what everybody else could see? THEN, SHE SHOULDN'T BE DRIVING. DON'T EVER EXCUSE HER BEHAVIOR. SHE COULD'VE KILLED SOMEBODY. I've seen this before and this is exactly what happens when your eyes are not always scanning ahead of you consistenly ( NON-STOP ). Obviously she is an older lady but younger people do it too. It's not the speed but the incompetence of the people. Gee I didn't see anything cause I wasn't paying full attention like I should have been. I hate stupidty. But I guess that's why they call it an accident. Stupid ='s accident. They have so much in common....I can't imagine why.

in some cars, if you get rear ended, your airbags deploy, to prevent neck and head injuries, my moms old car was like that, except the airbag didnt pop out like expected

What car? I think you're misinformed... If you're hit from behind your head never will go forward hence never reaching an airbag. Even if for some reason the airbag were to pop out it would do much more harm than good (effectively 2 impacts, it would break your neck). Cars can only tighten the seatbelts to pull you into the seat and have the headrests pop forward to support your neck and head. Anything beyond that is just not possible even with the safest of cars
