  • 16GB of memory i have but i still using 200x usb 16GB flash drive for ready boost.

so many ppl said if your pc have more then 4GB don't need readyboost but it helps my pc. readyboost take care tiny data's and my main memory take care of big stuff.

So if you have more then 4GB on ur pc but go head use ready boost also. it will help nothing is pain~

  • There are couple of things one need to do to get readyboost to work more efficiently.

    1) Go into USB drive and properties. Change Policies from Quick Removal to Optimize Performance. Enable Write Cashe.

    2) When these features are enable one can reformat USB flash to NTFS or the new elfat format.

    3) Then launch ReadyBoost up to 4GB.

    4) Monitor the performance using Task Manager, Resource Monitor, your USB access time drop to 20ms from 250ms. And ReadyBoost is used a lot by Sys.

  • You do know that a hard drive has a maximum of 60Mbps writing and 120Mbps reading. In a usb drive since it's inefficient it writed at 13Mbps and reads at 30Mbps.

HDD are actually faster you DUMBASSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • don't create seen before the camera, if you have the video then show that .......?

  • How do I remove Readyboost from the USB stick. It tells me something like: "Failed to remove because it's in use". Where do I go to remove the system feature?

BTW, my memory stick is supposed to be 8gb, but is somehow 7,45gb no matter how I format it. Are there any ways I can restore it to 8gb?

  • @Scourgeandmephiles93 lol remove readyboost

  • @KashgroundTM Rather disable. You can't remove it. Then it'll give you a message that says something about a process running. You have to go into properties and disble Readyboost from there. The video response to this video even says something about "enable" Readyboost.

  • Yes, but USB flash drives wear out and should not be used for heavy IO applications.

  • @EscapeNewJersey On average, it would take 10 years for the drive to "wear out".

  • @jewie27 Greatly depends on usage.

  • SNK = videogame company (king of fighters)

  • you need a better camera. your videos are good and the sound is good.

    But the video is off.

  • @BlackOpsGaming123 this is 3 years old....

  • @TheAlexagius 4 years

  • @funkyassholes if you display all comments its says 3 years even though its 4 youtube says its 3

  • @BlackOpsGaming123

which web cam will you recommend ?

  • im using an sd card...works great for ready boost and im on windows 7 64bit..my next option is to upgrade to an 8-16gb flash card since my laptop has card reader built in :)

  • my saddisk(sandisk) cruzer micro doen't work with readyboost, however reports say this runs at 15/mbs which should qualify for readyboost. why does't by flash stick work

  • @paperbachwriter1 Its okay i fixed it ,I threw it in the microwave for 30 seconds and it works fine now!

  • Control Center? =P

  • thankyou YOUR AMAZING

  • hey, does windows readyboost take memory out of yur usb/flashdrive?

like if u hav 8 gb, use readyboost, it will have less than 8GB?

  • Let's say you have an 8GB flash drive and you allocate 4GB of your memory stick as virtual memory with ready boost. You can now only add another 4GB worth of files because ReadyBoost has added a 4GB file onto the memory stick, which it uses as a cache. Once you disconnect the memory stick, or disable ReadyBoost, this file becomes 0 in size and you have your full 8GB again.

ReadyBoost wouldn't permanently decrease the capacity of your flash drives or I'm pretty sure no-one would use it o_O

  • would this work with linux 10.04 ???

  • This is SOOO wierd. Ok so when my computer's fan's turn on the light on my usb flash drive is blinking. and when my fans turn off the lights is like: Glow On glow off. COOL

  • Ask him

  • product reviews. among other thing.

  • Stop looking so close at that monitor! No wonder you wear glasses

  • That doesn't explain why he wears glasses, i wear em coz I am short sighted and yet computers have not effected my sight

  • Its a 30 inch monitor, Its an illusion that makes it look like he is really close. most monitor you see are around 17-22 inches.

  • Chris U rock!

  • hahhh. it actually works. cause I use my other computer for playing sims games like the sims 3 and it worked slow until I pluged in the usb flash drive :D

  • I tested this on my laptop Windows Vista, 2GB RAM with only a 512MB flash drive and guess what guise... it ran faster! My test was opening Photoshop CS4 without readyboost and it opened in ~13 seconds. Popped in the flash drive for readyboost and opened photoshop again and it opened in 5 seconds- I shit you not. Now my question is do you really need 1GB or more? Wouldn't hurt :)

  • you said this post on another video from the one i just came from...........WTF

  • That could just be that the RAM use by Photoshop wasnt needed by another process so Photoshop was partially left in RAM. I tested ready boost with my last laptop and it actually dramatically slowed it down. It could just be the USB wasnt fast enough...But a fair test would be to go from a fresh start each test.

  • SMK= swallow my kids lmfao "im not sure i want to know what it means" lmfao

  • my specs

    i7 920

    3gb 1333mhz in 3 channel

160gb SATA1 2mb cache (very slow piece of shit)

2GB sony vault dedicated ready boos drive

Works awesome with RB, , i could see a difference ,dont no bout other ppl, ,

  • u suck u peice of shit

  • This is cool, i have a 8 GB memory stick and now i can use photoshop faster than before!

  • how should i know if the usb drive is fast or slow?

  • "this device does not have the reqiured preformence characteristics for use in speeding up your computer"

why the fuck ? i have 8gb cruzer from sandisk

  • Maybe your hard disk is operating faster than the Cruzer. So there would be no performance gain.

  • well i use my old ipod nano shit is like 5 time faster for me and it 4 gig

  • if you take a 1tb hard drive?

you can only use 4gb of the harddrive

  • I have a 1tb external what will happen if I use ready boost...

  • Try it, see what happens. If it increases performance then great, if it does not, nothing is lost.

  • It will work if it is solid state.

  • im using 4 gb and i have only 1 gb ram

  • What does he mean its faster then the hard drive. My hard drive can transfer data at 1.5 gigabits per second and usb 2.0 flash drives can only do it a 480 megabits per second. Am i missing something here?

  • transfer data has nothing to do with it. in your what he is saying is that in your hard drive has moving parts that slow down the speed of virtual virtual memory drastically. your memory sick would probably be 3 times faster

  • i just got a 2gb flash drive, used readyboost.

Can really tell a difference, then again before i only had a gb of RAM, my laptop really needed this.

  • Comment removed

  • well i think, i mean i think, readyboost helps you a lot if your computer is quite old and slow. I think you won't see a big difference if your computer has 2GB ram and dual core already

  • ummm do u have to leave the stick in the whole tym wen ever u use ur comp? or can u take it out and ur pc will b sweet? plz help.

  • you need slaped for asking stupid questions

  • you re very funny on 1:10 in this vid.

  • does this speed up ur computer? and if it does if use 1g from ur usb flashdrive is it like adding 1g of memory to ur computer?CAn anyone help me lol

  • it does speed up your computer if you have 1gb ram or less, if you have any more thn tht, its kinda pointless. and its not like adding 1gig of ram, its creating a cache file on your memory stick tht can be accesed faster thn the cach file on your hard drive

  • on my computer i put a very VERY VeRy!!!!!!! fast 2gb flash drive and my computer speed up alot Alot AlOt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i have 20gb and 384mb of ram i want to seperate vista, pagefile, and search index on different drives/partitions( i know how to create em i just dont know what all my settings should be) can you tell me how i would go about doing that?

  • SNK... that's the company that made metal slug, Shin Nippon Kikaku.

  • for thus they have the max recognisable amount of ram, disable virtual memory = increase speed and access overall on laptops. And trash virtual memory!

  • i use readyboost everyday for my horrible half a gigabyte comp but i have to reset readyboost and usually i have to format the whole flash drive before it starts working again :S still has some bugs :(

  • you need to instal vista service pack1, tht sorts this bug

  • Well for some reason when i install service pack 1 my wireless reciever for my laptop stops working :P lol there's no help for me mate :P

  • had that same problem now im running windows xp agen lol

  • ha well i'm running the windows 7 RC :P it's much better :P and free for a year :D so that's good :P

  • i went to regedit and now i can use my psp

  • to me, readyboost is useless if you have 4GB RAM installed or atleast 3GB. I have 2GB and have no intension on using readyboost. it will reduce my flashdrive life span. I will only use it if we have a non-fading flashdrive.

sorry for my comment. nice video. it helped me a lot

  • This confused me i thought ReadyBoost increased RAM? Here it sounds like it increases the Cache on the Hard Drive? If that is the case it makes more sense, cause a typical USB drive is no were near as fast as RAM, even on my older machine of DDR at 333mhz.

  • If you already have a good harddrive, you can't use readyboost. It will just tell you that the usb stick isn't fast enough. Even if you have the fastest one out there.

But if you have a bad speed notebook drive, you could use it.

Unfortunately, this means most people who might want to use readyboost will not be able to.

  • Let users also know that this video is prior to Vista Service Pack 1, which has improved Readyboost since this video.

  • wish corsair and kingston started making cas2 2gig volatile ram ready boost usb keys that have instant microsecond write speeds so that i can load browser cache on there and get some respectable level of responsiveness! flash keys are anemic for write speeds, and its making ready boost look like a lousy a joke.

  • HOLY JUNK!!! my computer went from booting at about 60 seconds to about 35! that is a whopping 25 seconds!!

  • i dont like u lol nerd...

  • I have 2 GB of ram . When i use 1 GB Pendrive how much this can boost my system ?

And also u disable or enable HDD Swap File ?

  • lol so if u get like.......5 4gb flash drives will your pc boost be very significant?

  • no cause you can only use 2gb.

  • You can actually only use 4GB at the most, but on Windows 7, it's going to be unlimited.

  • i don't get why corsair and ocz dont just dish out volatile ram based usb-keys for readyboost instead of flash ones, a 2 gig ddr ram usb key would take the bandwidth up to full usb2 spec, and would give you much greater access times (*micro-seconds* rather *than milliseconds*) for ready boost, flash aint a very logical or advantageous choice for ready boost, imo.

  • Another goodie / A 2gig ddr ram usb key = (no flash life span issues)

  • You can also use SD cards as well!! :D

  • i use MY PSP MEMORY 4GB :]

  • i tried with a psp 2GB and 1GB bot dident work, when i put it in it said "this device does not have the required performance bla bla bla" when i put it in , it promps me to use ready boost, and when you click it, it says that mesage PLEASE RESPOND

  • But still u will be able to use it no prob. try it.

  • Go to disk drives in control panel. Under polices choose optimize for performance. Then format the drive with ntfs file system. Retest it and see if it will work.

  • i just ordered a new 1gb flash stick. I lost my other one lol

  • is it possible to download readyboost thanks chris :D

  • It is possible for XP

  • yes i using it right now its eboostr

  • wont readyboost decrease your usb drive's lifespan by repeatedly writing data to it?

  • Probably.

  • yes it will... big time. so get the cheap stuff with a lots of space.

  • what he forgot to tell you is that now you can get an intel processor that includes flash memory and is preconfigured for readyboost. HP and Sony dont offer it though. readyboost is shit anyway. dont waste your money on the flash memory.

  • SNK = Initials for Shin Nihon Kikaku

You know "King of Fighters"? That's their franchise.

F.Y.I.: EXT. HARD DRIVE = NO READYBOOST USB FLASH DRIVE = READYBOOST

  • lol u crack me up..."VISTA!" "BOOST!" "USE!" hust kinda funny how you puase and yell.

  • when you set it up for readyboost it will create a 'windows readyboost cache' file, at the size you requested. If you have spare space, you can store data on it, if not, no because your drive will be full already :)

  • If you set up the flash drive as a Readyboost drive, can you still use it as a flash drive to save files?

  • you can choose how much to dedicate to your readyboost cache file. say youre running a 4gb drive you can give 2 to readyboost and 2 to file storage. my personal experience with it is that is is crap. message me for details

  • if you plan on using the flash memory for readyboost/ storage, it has to be just one of the two. because chances are it's gonna really lessen the lifespan of your flash drive and whatever is in that will be gone. so just get one that's dedicated for storage and another for readyboost.

  • The benefits of ready boost are mostly seen on low memory machines like 512mb and to a lessor extent 1gb. If you have 2gb+ ram, tests have shown the performance benefits are almost none existent.

  • hey can I do that with a hard disc please reply

  • No,a harddisc is way to slow!

  • yes u can .. right click computer > properties > advanced sys settings > advanced tab > settings button on performance .. there u set ur pagefile on drive u want ... after you change it will ask for restart

  • I have 1 gb ram should i buy 2 pr 4 gb usb stick?

  • You should buy at least another gig (for 2 total) of ram before you do anything. Vista is a HUGE hog when it comes to memory usage.

  • hes right. ive got 2gb and if im running vista aero (which i never do) im already using 1GB (my laptop has a few background programs running though

  • Thanks for the advice about the virtual memory..how much dose a good 4 GB Flash Drive Cost?

  • goto newegg or compusa or bestbuy website. i recommend looking at each then buying form a local retailer, unlesss your buying more pc products then stick with newegg.

  • I have 400G of virtual ram. i use my second hard drive as virtual ram. how do i do it? well i bought (kama connect)it make it so you can connect your hard drive as a USB port then i used readyboost on it.

  • for some reason if i use rediboost on my pc my computer will get hung at the os detect unless i pull out the stick, i have usb boot turned off and the hd as the first priority??? msg me if you know why?

  • Readyboost is worthless. FLash Media is a crapload slower than real ram.

It's another spin on virtual memory folks.

  • hey!! Both of you need to shut up, please!! Different cultures and languages spell and say things different, and if you guys are going to yell at each other over that, then go back to the stone age!!

  • ^^Well Americans are stupid for twisting the English language in the first place, e.g. Americans spell English words phonetically "How they sound" most of the time, Australia spells English words exactly how England does and since England is the place where the English Language was finalized and the culture where it came from, many people would say to speak proper English go to england

  • Srsly. stfu.

  • Pffft. It ain't ginger, it's blonde.

  • Ah, I spell the way I was taught to fuckwod. YouTube is a place for people to enjoy, not for fuckheads like yourself to spam and harass people. So, fuck off jackass!

  • Ah, I'm from Australia. We don't spell it Mom, we spell it Mum. Dipshit

  • Your mums a moron

  • 1TB USB Stick... That would be fast!

  • Oh whoopee freakin doo! Who really cares. Get over it.

  • yo people are sad. and yeah USB flash drives as RAM is a cool idea, but they are just too slow...

  • third

  • this is getting annoying, who gives a flying fuck if you're first

  • Who cares....

  • second
