  • Well, the oil tank on this site was removed Friday. Can't wait to hear the results. Apparently the tank had been abated awhile ago and there was NO oil in it, just fill.

  • The soil report goes on to state that - "therefore, ingestion of a small amount of soil contaminated above the Residential SRS EACH DAY for THIRTY-YEARS, would increase the lifetime cancer risk level by ONE-IN-ONE-MILLION"

One of the last sentences in the soil report states - "The concentrations of Heptachlor and lead detected at the property do NOT exceed the NJDEP's direct ingestion Residential SRS".

So, what's the REAL reason Mayor?? We're all waiting for your answer.

  • The report goes on to further state that - " EPA considers chlordane a "probable carcinogen" since evidence suggests that chlordane may cause cancer in humans but that there is no direct evidence that it does. NJDEP calulated the Residential Soil Remediation Standard based on INGESTION of a SMALL amount of the contaminated soil EACH DAY for a period of THIRTY-YEARS".

  • The soil report also indicates that Chlordane was detected in only one of the soil samples. Chlordane is an insecticide that was used on agricultural crops, lawns and gardens, and around the foundations of homes. All use of Chlordane were prohibited by the U.S. EPA in 1988. Chlordane is likely present at the property due to historic topical applications as an insecticide.

  • The lead that the Mayor is referring to, according to the official soil report, has been measured at 207 mg/kg in soils sample #1 and 93.4 mg/kg in soil sample #2. The NJ state standards are anything over 400 mg/kg for residential and 800 mg/kg for non-residential. It also should be noted that according to the report that the 93.4 and 207 exceed the "impact to Groundwater Soil Screening Level, IGWSSL". So, so much for the Lead contamination as an excuse for removing Michele and Stacy.

  • If the Borough has yet to receive the soil report from ERI, then how does the Mayor know that the site is contaminated with lead and pesticides?? Especially back in October when the committee members went onto the borough owned property.

  • "Some stuff guys, is so transparently political, that people need to be called on it!"

    How true!

New Jersey Governor Christie, week of 1/3/11

  • So, the Mayor is blaming the River Edge Republican County Committee for making the decision to remove Michele and Stacy. Really Mayor?? I thought they just made recommendations on potential council candidates. So stop blaming the River Edge Republican County Committee - this was ALL you!

  • A few more questions for the Mayor:

What was the REAL reason these two people were not re-appointed?

How much contamination is there? Or is this just the excuse?

How can an entire Zoning Board be wiped-out as you state in the video? I thought the appointments were staggered to avoid this?

Politics 101 - gotta love it!

  • 2 questions for the mayor:

The gated area used to be a preschool play area. If it's so dangerous then why were there little kids running around in it?

Why did the DPW go in there the other day then?

    Fail
