  • They continue something sexist like not allowing a woman to perform a certain style? I can stand to see Asian countries still keeping up a sexist practice like that because they are still changing, but please tell me that is not in western countries because that's just BS. Luckily, from seeing drunken style just now, I wouldn't want to learn it anyway because that would just have been annoying.

  • iwushumylife is my ID for a lot of things haha

In my opinion the song Fancy Footwork kind of killed it but over all REALLY good

  • kung fu is wushu dumbasses and wushu is kung fu.

  • Wushu is life <3

  • sami ben mahmoud

  • I wish I could've starting learning when I was younger... at 23 I doubt I can condition my body fast enough to work the floor like these peeps.

  • @Neuromance27 i got to have the will to be better and push ur self to tell u I started tkd at 21. Now im getting better as every day goes by im 22 now and I have a dream of becoming good enough to go to nationals and then one day getting into the Olympics. I like you also wish that i started earlier but you should do it anyway. There is no greater strength then the power of will. remember the saying you can do anything you set your mind to I am a big believer in that saying.

  • plese somebody answer me, i know i maybe i gnorant but ,well i think the modern wushu its cool but i dont really think thins can be use as self defence. i also like a lot wushu just that i think that traditional kung fu its better, but hey ! i am open to change my mine if somebody tells me something that makes me change it ( i practice Ng Ga kuen)

  • do you have any experience in sanda? I've been training in various arts, wushu being one, and me and a friend are putting on a sanda exhibit next week

  • My Master was also one of the young members of the first beijing wushu team along side Jet li

  • how come an american hasnt been able to do that particular technique?

  • Tohse muthafuckin think they're tough,.fuck ya'll. . .

  • yea, wushu is a fake "martial art" in the strictest sense of the term. broke my heart when i first came to that conclusion. but now i think it goes without saying that most, if not all, wushu practitioners know that they're not doing what they're doing in order to learn self defense.

and you can't jump, flip, and kick like that without serious physical conditioning and practice.

  • front kick followed by aerial twist?

front kick -> aerial twist -> inside jump

  • Nice job

  • women are prohibited to learn the drunken style? I've seen women performing the drunken style

  • I love this video...

  • cool ;;;;;;;;; :-)

  • I've deep admiration for people who can and will devote their lives to a martial art (or any other sport for that matter). I've somehow never been able to find and hold a passion for anything in life, but will keep looking till the day I die. I do a killer Drunken Master mind you, just that I never get up after falling ;-)

Thanks for posting, loved the vid.

  • Very Cool! ^_^

  • everything is kung-fu nothing is wushu but wushu. getting good at playing guitar for example is kung -fu.

  • in parts of china they call kung fu gung fu. I think it's mandarin

  • @CTU4105 'Gung fu' is just the hanyu pinyin writing for 'kung fu'. the 'G' is pronounced as a 'K' in Chinese. They don't call it Kung Fu in China, it's called Wushu.

  • Wushu = Dancing.

    Wushu = Fake martial-arts.

Wushu = Useless in real fighting.

  • @pithe77 wushu is not meant to be used for real fighting. Its more of a performing art. I am pretty sure that most people don't go around picking fights just because they know martial arts, its usually use for defence and not meant to hurt anyone.

  • @kiraismyhero real fights are, unfortunately, dealt with thru weapons these days. So like you said, wushu is more of an art, but I'm fairly sure it can be deadly effective in the proper hands. Meanwhile it's great to look at :-)

  • @pithe77 pithe77 = Failed test tube baby.

  • @pithe77

    shut up u dick head

  • @pithe77 if u say this you know nothing !!!! it might appear to be fake but do you know the amount of strength it takes for one to perform those same movements that u call dancing or should i say fake......if one of these guys or girls hit you a kick, just one kick you will definetly feel it, they might even damage you in a very severe manner......know before you speak

  • @pithe77

You're telling it like it is, my friend. I about died of laughter when the narrator called wushu a form of Kung-fu. Lmao, and then that one guy couldn't even explain how the movements were effective, just that "they were unpredictable". Lol. Look at traditional Tai Chi. Now there's an effective fighting style.

And all you haters, stop spamming people's comments just because you don't agree with them. It only makes you look like you're hiding the truth. Oh wait, you are!

  • 3:20 must be alfred hsing! his butterfly setup is pretty unique

  • wah?? super man CANT die??!?!? noooooooo!

  • really I never knew woman can't learn drunken. Why?

  • Wushu is definitely not my life though. XD Its just part of it. Thank you for the video. I miss studying wushu. Its been a long time.

  • not only is wushu my life but it has a great sound track

    ORGAN DONNER

  • yes !

    wushu is my life !

  • wushu is definitely my life!

  • haha my friend did a fly kick to an aerial? hes chinese but he was still born in NY :P

  • awesome very awesome whats whats the song at 0:14

  • organ donor

  • Awesome AWESOME video!

  • Wushu is just Traditional Kung Fu with a aesthetic focus... ITS THE EXACT SOME THING Wushu movements COME from traditional kung fu techniques. Just some have been exaggerated and acrobatics have been added. Would you fucking idiots stop posting on every single Wushu video calling it "fake kung fu". Even Shaolin monks learn Wushu routines for when they perform demonstrations.

  • Same thing*

  • wushu is just kung fu but people know it as kung fu, because the cantonese were here to promote it first

    mandarin: wushu

    cantonese: kung fu

for those who speak chinese i know its not the direct translation, but my point is to say WUSHU IS KUNGFU!

  • shut your shaolin mouths up! WUSHU IS OUR LIFE!

  • LOVE Wushu :) !

  • Wushu is the fake version of Shaolin Kung Fu

  • No, you do your research Shaolin Kung Fu is tought at temples and is a REAL defense martial art.

    Wushu are just acrobats

This is real Shaolin Kung Fu:

    watch?v=CUXB38ShMdw

  • shaolin kung fu is not only taught at temples, and its all the same, wushu is kung fu. The shaolin ppl u see from the temples are just more disciplined and take wushu as if it were a religion, they do the same things look it up, maybe you'll learn something

  • Really? Cause when I look at wushu, all there doing is jumping up and down and shaolin kung fu they strenghten their bodies and when they fight they actually look like fighters not acrobats.

  • what u see are things they you do for attractions, its all television, they show shoalin monks doing what you call "fighting" in a more disciplined way, because they're not gonna humiliate them, but they dont show you everything, so do ur research get off your ass and check it out for yourself

  • beautiful video =)

again again i get inspired to give wushu a shot

  • I thought I was watching a history channel video. You only lack one thing in your video, you didn't show yourself talking to the camera. Otherwise, you would have History channel quality.

  • I'm 15 now, and I have been training soccer for a year and a half, always wanted to learn a martial art, I know a bit capoeira, would wushu be a good martial art to pick up? considering my age and so

  • Wushu used to be my life, back when I was 8. =P Now it's tennis, soccer, video games, and of course, still school. I still do some of my wushu exercises for tennis and soccer though. Hahahaha!

  • For your first video project, it's actually good. I've seen countless scrappy first videos. I wouldn't have realized this was your first video project. Kudos to you. Nice editing. Appropriate music for the parts. Narration done in a professional manner as well as technically (narration audio was actually edited to make it perfectly audible).

BTW, isn't that the Herculanum font used in the opening title? Just wondering cause it's also being used in the title of a popular TV series that I watch.

  • Are those fights staged or are they actually sparring

  • It is rare to find a video on the internet where a wushu "duel" is not choreographed.

  • its dui lian

  • i like how they use cmat vid and people haha

  • wooow, i would like to say "wushu is my life too" U_U, i really would like to learn

  • wow.. a nice video.. i can say that wushu is also my life (although I am not that good at it..), but at least, i strive to be better.. very very nice video!

  • So can wushu be used for fighting or is it just a sport?

  • of course it can be used for fighting...

  • Check out Sanshou,Cung Le, or Liu hailong

Wushu have 2 types of component: Toalo and Sanshou, just like karate kata and kumite but karate is from kungfu/wushu anyway...

  • Wushu is my life too <3

  • same goes for me :D

  • Wushu is my life :D

  • Wu-shu is my hobby:)

  • Wow. such strong words to describe anything. Yes, martial art in general is my life too. You're lucky to have friends and people around you that share that commom interest. I on the other hand only have friends that sees martial as a recreational thing. It can get frustrating and I feel incomplete at times.

  • You're not alone, mate.

  • very nice video!!!

  • NICE!!!

    Wushu is my life too!!!

  • OOO So Kung Fu is another name for Wushu? I never knew that! That's how they would refer to this martial art in China? Wushu, right?

  • they call it wushu in china... i said, in america, people call it kung fu, but it's not necessarily correct terminology, it's debatable. i was more trying to make the connection for non-wushu athletes in american who tend to view wushu as the same umbrella term as kung fu.

  • Cao Yue was cool enought I think ;)

  • @feliciac705 I can't believe I'm replying to this, since it's been two years lol

But Kung-Fu is actually the Cantonese name fore Wushu.

  • @air1306 Yeah, right. "Gong Fu" (often transliterated as Kung Fu) is Mandarin for "Hard Work".

  • @feliciac705 kung fu as a literal translation just means "Something you have trained in for years" so technically being a mechanic is Kung Fu, being a painter is Kung Fu. If you were to ask a more traditional chinese person what kind of Kung Fu they use they would probably tell you something like that, what their trade is...the Martial art is referred to as Wushu, thats the proper way

  • @Vadion12 Lol to summarize things, Kung Fu has the same meaning as 'Skill' in english and is not the right term for the Chinese martial art. The real name is 'Wushu' but westerners use the term 'Wushu' to refer to contemporary wushu and many are often confused by this. 'Wu' means military or martial while 'Shu' is art. So what you said is correct. There can be cooking kung fu, painting kung fu etc.

  • @feliciac705 No there are differences between them. american kung fuu doesn't display some of these techniques. The sword one alone isn't really practiced due to weapon laws. license to hold a weapon, A signed certified ticket by dojo's master, along with registration of weapon/sword to local and fbi authorities. plus I think it's illegal to own a katana. I don't really know for sure. But, looks like fun to learn as well as being taught^_^

  • @GrandPatzer Yes, You're right

  • this is a very well mde vide, but i could have used some clips of zhao qing jian when u talked about the beijing wushu team ;)
