You would see the sky distorting or something, probably. At night.

If the light rays are distorted as well, you won't see it. Say, for example, the entire universe would be stretched along one direction by a factor of 1000 or so. How could you notice it? Your eyes would be streched in that direction as well. And the light rays would be stretched, too, and they would be faster along that direction. The vision cells of your eye would be stimulated in exactly the same way as before. 8)

That is, ur right, on this specific planet you would see something. But only because the background, the milky way, is not affected by the distortion. The inhabitants of that planet would insist that their planet looks round and fine and that the stars outside their solar system are distorted...

No. I rendered it at 640x480, without antialiasing. However, since Youtube interpolates pixels when it reduces the size to 320x240, the result is somewhat antialiased.
