In 1987 in Austin, Texas, I sat down and interviewed Mark when he was on a solo tour. He is the real deal. I've been a fan ever since I saw Mark, Mel & Don in San Antonio in 1970. He is such a great dude. In 1997, I saw him in Austin, Texas again and met his wife Lisa, his son Jason and other GFR members. They are the original gargage band made good. Love live GFR!!!
If there are "two" sides to the story, why now does "sewer brewer" and his butt boy mel either remain silent or state that they can't comment as the issue is in "lidigation"? Well, since this has been going on since approx 1998, seems to me since high profile murder cases are addressed in less time, then who's blowing smoke? From what I read, Mark is doing quite well with his solo career, he really doesn't need them, but only thinks of the fans who loved and supported GFR. Believe what you want.
Those who condemn Mel and Don don't know the other side to the story. And there is one. They were more than willing to keep the 1997 reunion going into 2000, but Farner wanted solo gigs with guys he could push around. Don and Mel were told they couldn't work without Mark's approval so they BOUGHT him out. Farner was paid to leave GFR, and paid well. Now that his solo career has fallen flat, he wants " To Get Back In", but he made his way and he is now lying in it.
@derhandtrommler True. We can look at this at least two different ways. One could say those who seek out a church are trying to train and guide themselves to be more ethical and moral (nothing wrong with that), but remember they aren't perfect and are likely to screw up, hence, Mark could be full of it. Of course, we don't know all sides to this story and I wish we did; Don and Mel could be just like Mark said. We don't know. Kinda sad since GFR is one of my favorite bands.
amazing hearing the story, have lost all respect for Mel and Don Brewer, what they've done just sucks but i truly believe what comes around goes around, they'll get there comeuppance
Mark Farner, lead vocalist and songwriter of Grand Funk Railroad, is a tremendous dude! Listen to this 9 part interview, you'll really like the guy. I do! He reminds me of Jerry T, my neighbor. Ha Ha!
I don't want to disagree or discuss religion at all! Whereas you continue to pontificate and regurgitate the same old "truths' that have been handed down to you. You sound desperate, trying to convince not only others and most of all yourself.
I was raised in the Pentecostal Church, baptized at 8. I know the words, scriptures and tricks used to influence minds. I'VE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE. You have nothing new.
I wish you well. May you walk in the light as YOU PERCEIVE THE LIGHT.
And I'll walk in mine. Namaste, Peace, Love and Happiness.
@hoz49 Wrong; this has nothing to do with fabricating controversy. People like you and all the replies I read come from people that do not know how to have a mature and open discussion or dialogue. It's okay to agree to disagree.
"Trouble no man about his religion. Respect his view and he will respect yours. Treat with respect those things he holds sacred. Do not force your religion on anyone. "
@hoz49 That is true what you wrote here; that there are other paths and other destinations. But where do these paths lead? Not to God of the bible. And it is true (whether you believe or not) that Jesus Saves and He is the only way to peace and forgiveness and everlasting life. There is no other way (or path) to be saved but through Jesus.
@emaccomputer See, there you go proselytizing. You can't help yourself. You define the problem according to YOUR beliefs. Not everyone believes the same thing you do (in god, in Jesus, in the bible) , so you dismiss others beliefs because they do not fit yours, it's a circular argument.
Again, respect another in their beliefs and you will be respected in yours.
@hoz49 Like I said before; I do respect the choices of others in their beliefs. I define the problem according to what is TRUE. And you're right about proselytizing. As a Christ believer I am called to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. If you had a cure for cancer; wouldn't you want the world to know? Whether you believe or not is up to you. And if you don't; that doesn't mean I just dismiss you and throw you away. If I would of mentioned Krishna, or Muhammand, or the Jolly Green Giant.....
@hoz49 everything would be fine, but since I mentioned the name "Jesus" I'm being disrespectful and offending according to you and others. But thats ok; I expected this type of repsonce. When people are faced with having to deal with Jesus and HIs truth; they just cannot hide or argue against who He is. It's too much in their face and they can't deal with it. But when thier life takes a tragic turn; who do you call on: God. John 3:16
@hoz49 By the way; I do respect the beliefs of others and I also don't believe I wrote anything offensive or disrespectful when I posted. But as you can see and read by the responses, that people are so closed minded and non tolerant when it comes to Jesus, and that's supposed to be ok. But as a christian with another view, then that person (me) is somehow branded as closed minded or not respecting of others. Why is that? Why is it always open season on Jesus?
@itchyundies I'm not trying to push anything on anyone! I just responded to a post. So with that said; it sounds like you don't have a problem against Jesus or God, but against all these people who claim to be christians, but their actions say otherwise; is that correct?
@itchyundies Great intelligent reply. Did you learn this from Buddah? Why is it that whenever anyone talks about or mentions "Jesus" people like you spew out to much anger and hate? It's because you can't face who Jesus really is; but you will one day. You want to deny what is true and you don't want to deal with God. What have you got against God? He created this earth and everything in it because He loves us and wants to have fellowship with us. What do you hold against HIm?
@pretorious700 And lead you nowhere. Jesus is the only way. Jesus saves. There is no other name under heaven in which a man can be saved. Jesus died and rose again; Buddah died and is still dead, but Jesus lives forever, and those that believe and have accepted Him for who He is; will see Him and be with Him.
Mark thank you for everything... you helped me and you will live forever
