"Out of the dark we came, into the dark we go. Like a storm-driven bird at night we fly out of the Nowhere; for a moment our wings are seen in the light of the fire, and, lo! we are gone again into the Nowhere."
@cdpresberg The authour H. Rider Haggard :) Although I first heard a variant of it through a Terry Pratchett book, the title of this made me remember the quote =)
Thank you for uploading these bizarre yet appealing representations of the Carnival of the Animals. The music is very unique, and the images unexplainably interesting.
it reminds me of the cycle of life and the balancce all life should be in, death is not the end just another beginning, the cycle of life continues, and the spirit will live either in the spiritual or rebirth again in the physical
The composition has me striving toward spiritual thoughts & feelings rising into the upper realms ,then "cuckoo" the body pulls on my strings "feed me","I want,I need".
Yes,folks now is the time for Hershey's milk chocolate kisses, or have a Reese Bar with Hersheyscovering in chocolate. Is it chocolate you like, well Hershseys....
From the title and the sound of the music, it makes me think of middle age folklore and the child like sense of wonder some have as to what may be lurking in the depths of the woods. Fear keeps other's out of the woods, but some want to see what lives deep in the woods. I imagine this song playing on a lonely sunny afternoon as one sets of to discover uncharted territory.
You guy keep saying this reminds you of a beautiful walk in the woods..
This reminds me of a scenario where someone is about to die and their time is running out. Like the cuckoo symbolises the time, and the sond itself sounds depressing yet peaceful, almost like a funeral.
Think about the Holocaust how their time was running out on the Death March or before they were gassed.. just all dieing together. And at the end, it just shows them all lieing there almost peaceful like this song...
It is a lovely image and the music so fitting. Having the one image made it possible to contemplate more fully the many details of the art and music. Lovely! Thank you!
Mostly you have a lot of pictures, paintings, in one video, but I can imagine that there are not much paintings with cuckoos on it, but!! you found one, and I did absolutely not get bored of it, there is so much in it, telling about the cuckoo. And the clarinet, wonderful, of course there is a cuckoo outside, and this one is mesmerized by it's sound.... as we all are...
Thank you so much for posting these great pieces. I'm just starting to enjoy them.

I love Remedios Varos. I am a musician and am inspired to take some of my favorites of hers and compose some music to it.

for me this song express the knowledge that our lives are dying with every second, It is not a sad or depressing song, only a song of resignation.

this movement places the listener in the middle of a deep, still forest with only the calling of the cuckoo keeping us from getting lost. Wonderful.
