  • what is the thing at 2:30 supposed to be

  • Had the privilege of raiding most of the old world raids around 2002-2003 (except the max 52 ones, of course) while progressing thru PoP, these raids where still awesome fun and quite a challenge. Nobody cared how it looked, the content and the game mechanics is what makes EQ the greatest raiding game ever ... no game before or since has come close. No, 25 ppl is NOT a raid, it's an oversized group ... try coordinating 50 people, 10 second heals, zone wide aggroing ...thats what RAIDING is about

  • Everquest 1 was a great game honestly quest based games aren't fun to me because you don't have a choice on what you can do which is what I loved about Everquest 1 you can just run around taring shit up. LOVED THAT! Quests get boring, same old shit good benefits behind them but nonetheless I'd rather just do what I want to do then what the game says I have to do to level. Also monks in Everquest were kick ass haha. Graphics were shit but still.

  • Bleh lag, double post.

  • Scars of Velious is and always will be the greatest Everquest and greatest MMO expansion ever. The great knew they were great.

  • Scars of Velious is and will always be the greatest MMO expansion ever. First guild to kill Avatar of War on our server. First to kill all of VP. We didn't wake sleeper because weren't gay. Oh yah... I was the only warrior on our server ever to have 2 SODs.

  • Is eq2 worth starting with now or was eq1 so much better?

  • @haloXorer EQ2 is worth starting, it's a "current-generation" MMO finished and polished, getting expansions and updates steadily, and it's actually pretty fun to play: one of the best things out there so far, it just lacks popularity. EQ1 being better? Don't know, it just depends, EQ1 was good because of the time it was placed on (other than other stuff), but if EQ1 would be released now most people would say it sucked :p Also, you don't have to have played EQ1 to play EQ2 - different games.

  • WTH.....my name is veeshan....==....i just went to google and type my name for fun and this is wat u got...==

  • honestly, if you haven't even been here to VP... then no, you haven't really experienced EQ. Since just getting here would have been required to have 60 men crew rolling with 5 healer, 5 enchanter group killing for about 8 hrs + (due to respawn times). So no, everyone here that act that they played EQ and experienced it is a lie. WoW don't even have Death calling mobs like Czaic Thule. So no.. and NEVER... If I had money, I would buy EQ and run it Free for eveyone.

  • This is so much more epic than ANY other MMO out there at the moment. There is something about EQ1 that is just mindblowing.

  • Did you even raid NToV / Sleepers / VP (before revamp?) Glowyrn? Those zones were tough - with no dps meters or threat meters. PoP and GoD was rediculous. Don't give me that BS that WoW's encounters rae more fun or harder than EQ. People can clear through encounters in WoW so quick, /facerolling on a keyboard and you get loots for people. In EQ You had to work for your loot.

  • Amen to that, and that's why everquest has a much fonder place in my heart than WOW ever will. That and better lore ^_^

  • can't we just have a nice stroll down memory lane about one game WITHOUT having someone compare it to WoW?

  • I haven't played everquest 1 since a couple of years ago when i got hooked on eq2, but I remember a raid where you had to duck arrows, and follow instructions or the raid would wipe. I believe that was in the Omens of War expension, which was several expansions ago so I'm sure there are other raid instances like that. Also in eq2 you have to know which mobs have knockback, which mobs spawn adds, some mobs spawn traps etc. I think both games are a lot different since the last time u tried them.

  • Yeah that was a little raid, MPG trials :)

  • thats what made this game popular was the fact that you could never lack interaction, otherwise you'd might as well just quit all together

  • I played Everquest from beta to Luclin. I then played WoW from beta to present. All in all that is almost a decade of MMO experience.

To be honest the "hardest" thing about EQ was the lack of information the game provided to you (via tooltips or whatever) and the fact that you needed so many people to do something.

Most fights in EQ are tank and spanks and there were *some* fights that had you interact a bit. WoW has all of that and more. LVLing game is easy but raids in WoW have more to them.

  • WoW is everquest for kids. gg tho

  • Awesome reply. Have you even played either games end game fully?

It's not a matter of opinion. EQ raids literally had you stand there. The only people that had to REALLY pay attention were the Clerics in a CHeal chain, which was lame to begin with. Sometimes the tank had to change the mobs position but rarely. Hey I loved EQ though.

WoW raids have more to them, it's that simple. If EQ raids took only 10 or 25 people, I GUARANTEE you would have seen MANY MANY more guilds downing everything.

  • beta to luclin. try beta to current. the Only thing i like or even play WoW for is pvp. the one thing eq lacks atm (that and someone pays for my account). and there are raids where 25 people can down a mob. no special loot mind you

10-25 is more like a group lol. not a raid. and if you want involved you need to experience endgame raiding.

  • Oh I'm sure EQ's raiding is much much different now if that's what you were trying to say. They "WoWified" it. When EQ was popular is was bland, but it was all there was really. I happen to know people who play end game EQ now and they still say it's just stand there and nuke type stuff. Maybe you could enlighten me as to exactly what an involved fight is to you in EQ.

Also, the amount of people doesn't make an encounter hard. The less people there are the more important each person becomes.

  • Judged by the models, well after Velious. You guys have no idea how hard this content was during Velious only days. Only a select few raid capable guilds (1 in 10) could actually handle most of the content other than HoT.

  • Actually I don't know (but can imagine), because I didn't play EQ back then, but the guild of the video (Darkwind) was one of those guilds that *could* do Velious back then :)

You can see some media here if you wish and want nostalgy :p

  • i think this song came out the year velious did too....i remember hearing this song a lot while cracking out on EQ

  • God i used to hate the room with the 3 dragons... had a 69 shaman and they resist slow like a beoch

  • Hehe. This was endgame content at level 65. Talk about resists :p

  • good memories...right after joining my first raid guild (magna charta on solro) we went to ntov. they were still progressing on dozekar the cursed (spelling?) and eventually got to vulak aerr - this was before the scripted event to make him spawn. i remember it being a 40 minutes fight - could be wrong.

    thanks for the video =)

  • Fun to see some NC action. Tant froggie cleric

  • This is in response to bo12117 remark below, but I didn't want him to receive credit for a reply :P

WoW encounters are much, much, much harder and more skill required then EQ ever was. EQ raids depended on how many Clerics you had in your CH chain. *Yawn* I quit after Plane of Time. Straight...up...boring... with Atari graphics.

  • ANd this is exactly why your not qualified to make a comment on anything dealing with Everquest..... WoW is a cakewalk where everything is handed to the crybabies... 9 million players my ass.... 2 million players with multiple accounts more like it.... Also 99 % of WoW has is stolen from EQ. When Furor is helping to create content...enough said. Everquest always has and always will be harder, more content, and much better of a game than WoW ever will be or become.

  • Back in the old days yes, you could zerg most stuff. Now it requires skill, dedication and patience. As in WoW encounters harder? No way, EQ encounters are way more sadistic and no shitload of third party programs that tell you what to do.

Mind you WoW is a good game but cant add EQ type of encounters without pissing of 6 million kids that lack the attention span to beat them.

  • yea i was talking with my friend that plays WoW and he says that most of the innovated and "hard" raid mobs are really just to test the attention spans of all the 12 year olds that play it, like not falling into the water or you will wipe the raid. if that was a challenge in EQ, people would stop playing it because it is so ridiculously stupid and easy.

  • wow is like everquest for people with downs syndrome, its SO SO SO much easier. moron. you have no idea what you're talking about

  • guys everquest is not dead i just came back to stromm and its looking better then it was...all i got to say is this is most peoples favorite mmo of all time but still everyone has been quitting for wow...play the game u love most screw what everyone else plays wow is to easy and to many little kids...come back home and bring a friend or 2 ...eq is not going anywheres it seems to be doing just fine...shadowbolt ...of stromm

  • This brings back old memories... :D

  • I dont think you can two man the boss, maybe

  • lol theres a 2.0 ranger right there...he can solo this whole zone....well if u cant i know a 2.0 ranger that does the whole zone on zek. that shows something if these guys need this many people.

  • I think you miss the point?

That it's soloable doesn't mean we're pretending to do it solo.

We were there raiding for fun at the night. Nightcrawlers was mostly formed by Darkwind people, a guild which has aquired many first-world kills, and btw, we also were first ones on aquiring most 2.0 epics :)

  • Basically what I'm telling you is that probably most people in the video are way better than the ones you know :) It's just that we weren't trying to "omg lol we pwned this zone with minimum players!"

  • Nightcrawlers FTW!

    -Love Brail

  • Most people these days don't even know what Temple of Veeshan is. :/ When you tell others you're going over for a fun night full of nostalgia, they look at you like an idiot. Almost like if it doesn't give you a "phat lewt" why bother? Which just saddens me. Glad to see some people besides me visit the older zones for fun!

  • Hey want to play a pure eq classic server? Me too.

    projecteq dot org

  • phat lewtz and pimp xp?

  • I remember it used to take 50 of us to clear ToV, even more to kill Vulak. Man, those were the days. Discovering Plane of Mischief, beating on Bristlebane for hours and not making a dent in his HP. haha.....

  • Man, would love to watch it but, linkin park? had tot urn it off after 10 seconds

  • I can't add a song that would please everybody, if you had experience in video-making maybe you'd understand :)

If you don't like the song, just turn the volume off.

And also, I used it because it kind of fits the name of the raiding association.

  • hah man EQ was amazing pre Luclin. It sort of went downhill after that.

Too bad there are very few private servers that are pre Luclin.

  • Haha i love this zone...

Great fun to clear with a single group nowadays:)

  • That first dragon you guys are fighting in Ntov, that Lord Vyemm?

  • /bow

Pity my slow leveling always held me back from all the fun. Entered Velious as it came down with my main chara being like lvl21. Asked people in the Great Divide on what I could kill here, which they quickly answered to by saying "yourself". ><

I wonder if the guy who ran through the Western Wastes in the intro got killed by Sontalak? xD

  • Nah didn't die :p

The movie is made in the late era of EQ, so I had pretty nice gear :)

  • u guys suck...all dragons are 2mannable

  • great tribute in a way, to the greatest era of EQ.
