I wish I could learn judo; when I tried the striking arts (boxing and karate) I got my ass handed to me, in boxing, by a Korean american guy smaller than me, and in Karate, on technique, by 5 year olds. At grappling though, I'm not so bad. what's it like to do judo? does it kick ass?
Nice vid, but at the 2.08 mark I saw the most pathetic demonstralion of a double leg takedown(morote gari) I have ever seen. What's also disturbing is that the dude performing it is a blackbelt, that's something that takes a while to achieve, and it's still so technicaly flawed. May be I'm being a bit hard on the guy, he might be just an actor.
Umm fedor isnt undefeated. There is only 1 Judokai in Pride in his weight division and thats Yoshida. Yoshida isnt even serious about MMA he is just doing it to promote Judo.
Sambo was developed by taking what works from judo and many other arts, and NOT taking what doesn't work. Sambo is newer and more advanced.
(Proof: Fedor Emelianenko, world champion many times in combat sambo is undefeated fighter in MMA, while no judo champ EVER even got close to fighting him, because they lost to people below him)
WRONG, Tsuyoshi Kohsaka beat him by TKO back in 2000 due to a cut. They had a rematch in 2005 and Fedor won by TKO due to Doctor Stoppage. His current MMA record is 23 wins and 1 loss.
