@AuraOkami4593 "Oak: Wild Pokémon live in tall grass! You need your own Pokémon. I know! Come with me!" (in Japanese). However, Oak just stands there and won't force you back in the lab, and you can walk around afterwards as if you were talking to a normal NPC.
I've repeatedly tried this glitch, but it doesn't seem to work. I take the exact number of steps shown in the video before I go into Blue's house, but it doesn't warp me anywhere. I've tried with all three starters, I've tried selecting Oak's Parcel both in and out of battle before activating the glitch, and nothing happens when I enter Blue's house. What might I be doing wrong?
@DivisibleByWaffle Are you using an emulator? Try using the emulator BGB. It doesn't work on some emulators, like some versions of VBA which often have Prof. Oak appear outside but fail to emulate the warping effects.
@ChickasaurusGL Thank you so much, I got it working! I should have read into things more, I didn't realize that my version of VBA wouldn't allow me to perform the glitch.
@1pokemonhacker Did you get a blackout loop? You have to make sure you enter the Fight menu first at least once (after switching Oak's Parcel with the first Pokémon) because otherwise the game considers that you have no battle-able Pokémon left on the field when you exit the battle.
This also doesn't work on earlier versions of VisualBoyAdvance, try something like BGB or VGB Dual.
@sejako10 I can't, sorry. However, you can sometimes find them on auction sites like eBay if you search for "Pocket Monsters Red" or "Pocket Monsters Green". They're common even outside of e.g. yahoo.co.jp. Beware of counterfeit versions though.
@clanerppc Not via this method, but various late game select bugs such as the so called "convert a fossil" are possible alternatives. There are also two select bugs you to trigger a wild encounter in the Celadon Department Store or change the trainer class/species for one of the trainers on Route 11 but I don't know about1 the exact details behind those.
The fossil conversion glitch involves you switching the 13th PC item with the 5th Pokémon which manipulates a stored fossil to the total...
@ChickasaurusGL experience of the shifted Pokémon modulo 256, so essentially that glitch makes any Pokémon and/or glitch Pokémon possible on Pokémon Red and Green.
The "Mew was removed" rumor originated from a recent "Iwata Asks" interview and apparently, yes the game's debugging features were removed and Mew was put in an empty space. Though "Mew glitch" is a misnomer; any (encounter) is possible by using different trainers.
OuO question...what does Oak say in Pallet Town if you try to talk to him?

So when I got to the rival's door, I warped straight to a route into a Gambler's view whose level 22 Poliwag destroyed me.

@Scorponis My mistake in the video description, I went to Route 7, not Route 8. Walk an extra 3 steps.

Interesting
As I recall, an alternative Mew glitch is possible with that select glitch. It may have been responsible for the rumor "Mew was removed", etc.
