Don't listen to anyone who say's their lamp has lasted 2-3 years. I've had this same tv for 3 years and am on my third lamp and this time the lamp ballast went with the lamp(even more money). Not worth the money I have in lamps.....I bought the tv on Halloween 2008 and every year(like clock work) between Halloween and Thanksgiving, the lamp goes out.
the need to have a bigger TV is why they made these 60 inches tv what they fail to realize is producers intend to make these lighter over the years i have a 2001 tv on my back porch got it for free when my neighbor got kicked out it has two bad projectors in it
for a year ive been super happy with my tv...until now. i get up and my screen is just black. it tries to power up and nothing. this really sucks if this is what i have to look forward to from here on out. may sale this one and get somethin else. lesson learned
Problem w/ this technology is that you will need to replace the the light bulb every year (2000 ~ 4000 hours of usage). The light bulb costs about $200 - 350 for this one. So, if you own this TV for five years the light bulb replacements will cost you more than what you pay for the TV.
Buying a DLP TV is like buying an inkjet printer, in which printer ink cartridges cost more than the printer. Don't be fooled by price of the TV.
@amafid How many hours do you spend on watching TV daily? The number of hours per day that TV is on in an average U.S. home is 6 hours and 47 minutes. 6.78 hours x 365 days = 2,476 hours. Therefore, you'll need to replace a light bulb every year. The average American buys a new TV every 7 years. So, $127 x 7 years = $868, which is roughly the cost of this TV.
This estimate does not include color wheel and fan that need to be replaced periodically. Therefore, the cost will go even higher (~1000)
@chulk90, Actually Amazon is selling bulbs right now for $78 - 133. They're rated at 8k-10k hours. I've had mine for almost 3 years and still using the original bulb.
I got this t.v on sale on bestbuy website on cyber moday for $680 ordered it online and they delivered into my house and placed it on the stand for me.
When it comes to a true movie theater experiences. Nothing compares to DLP. When the lights are off and you are watching your big screen, the screen isn't bright like it is on lcds and their isn't the glass window effect like plasmas. One of the only times cheaper is better.
@karnivor66 If you're thinking of buying a 3D TV at the moment I'd wait. 2 or 3 years.. There will be A LOT more films in 3D
It will be a lot cheaper and the TVs will be 10x better...
With LCD TVs first came out everyone was going ape over a 10:000 contrast ratio, and 720p, which by todays standards is pretty awful
Keep in mind 3D is brand new to TVs and film are only just properly getting the hang of it.. 3D is going to get ALOT better, the 3D TVs being sold now will be crap in a few years
i have this same tv and the hd looks really good color also but the 3d does not look that good i use it to play xbox and watch movies i recently saw avator the movie on my friends Sony 3d tv and there was a big diff in 3d his sonys 3d looked amazing compared to my Mitsubishi's 3d
@XxMultiKill0081xX No duh, you really think all reviewers express their sole opinions? This guy gets paid to review things. But, I can tell he's enjoying it ;P
I just got this TV just in time for the SuperBowl.
Everyone at the party couldn't get over how awesome the picture was and the audio was superb also! I can't wait to get back from work so I can watch it some more!
I have a standard old 27 inch (gigantic, in terms of front to back, it's seriously like 2.5 from front to back) from like 2004. I seriously need an upgrade, do you think that this is a good price at $970!?
I have direct tv and no I don't have Direct Tv in HD, I don't think I need it. I have thedirect tv box hooked up with S-video which displays images from 480p to 480i, its enough to notice a difference, all I can say is watching tv is better on my 65 inch than on my 32 inch lcd, its clearer, sharper, no fussy or blocky images. I have a Samsung blu-ray player and that displays in 1080p, GREAT. I also play my Xbox 360 on it and thats in full hd 2 but be sure to have enough viewing space.
The picture is flawless and bright. The TV is super light and only 13" deep. It is the BEST TV I have ever watched or owned. And words cant even explain how good 3-D movies look on it.
it is a great TV. i have it in my living room and the picture is perfect. i have Direct TV HD set to full HD and it looks great. i also have Playstation 3 set to full HD and the games and the Blu-ray movies are awesome. the sound is perfect on the TV and i love it. also, the 3D is so mind blowing. i recommend everyone who wants a great TV with great sound that can also support all video components to get this TV. no lie.
DLP Televisions are a pain especially with $400 lights to replace each few years, but people are blaming this on Mitsubishi Tvs. What's wrong with them? I dont know. I have a really large model which I believe is 55" from 2000 or 1, but I've spent $0 with repairs. The image is a bit fuzzy and sound is a bit messed up, but it's lasted with me for a long time. I can't put a price on that- a reliable electronic. Not so many of them are nowadays!
becasue its dlp, unlike lcd and plasma and led, this tv ususally isnt wall mounted and the bulb will have to be replaced. Nothing wrong with television at all. great investiment for a large televsion.
thats the same thing i was asking myself they have it on bestbuy for 800bucks i want it but im not taking a risk with 800 bucks on something that wont last more than a year..
It's a projector HDTV. so it's cheaper to make and they charge (Plasma/LCD) fro the luxury of hanging it on the wall. I'm gonna get the 65" I have a HD projector that i love but I need a new tv for the living room.
I think this will be my next tv, it's bigger than my current 56" Samsung DLP and is 120hz. My Samsung has screen door effect like crazy when watching fast moving broadcast, and also the 3D ready option, just saw the trailer for the Christmas movie with Jim Carey that's coming out in Nov.
If u have screen dooreffect ur gonna se it all the time. Thats motion blurUGG I see it while watching Cable HD but not watching BLu Ray OR HD DVD yes i still buy HD DVD. LOL!
the mitsubishi is faster dlp is better then lcd and its also so much cheaper people are stupid the depth of this tv is a foot your gunna need a stand for an lcd anyway so it doesnt even matter and also less problems and mitsubishi looks better with regular broadcast television. Just try them both out but dlp is better it is faster look up lcd vs dlp all movie theaters use dlp instead of lcd now
this tv is better trust me, I have an Xbox 360 and if 4 people were playing split screen it would be like each player having a 32 inch 1080p hdtv to play on together, its the best tv I bought to date and I'm buying the 82".
I have this television. Love love love it! ShopNBC offered it on no payment and no interest for a year. A whole year to enjoy it while paying if off. You can't get any better than that. Great television with some cool features.
Sorry I mean crystaleyes 5 does not require emitter, having this TV or samsung ones make me play Xbox 360 games in 3D! like Guitar Hero, Rock Band or Gears of War
$100-$200 bulbs blowing once a year or so (probably in the middle of the Super Bowl), noisy color wheel which wears out, and a screen that suffers from "rainbow effect." No thanks. Samsung HL67A750 with LED lighting: No bulbs to replace, no noisy color wheel to wear out, negligible to no rainbow effect, lower cost to operate, no color fade (like models with lamps) Spend $1400 for a TV that will last 30 years instead of $1400 plus at least another $100 a year over the next 30 years on lamps.
i bought this tv 11/20/2008 and today 2/14/2009 i turned the tv on an theres this black line across the tv .. i dont know why or what cause this or is it that a bulb or lens who knows got burned out.. does anyone knows please need help
look for 3d glasses, if you have a videogame computer, i would suggest hooking that up after you get the geforce 3d glasses... just make sure you have an nvidia card preferably in the 8, 9 or 200 series
I have this tv and I think its awesome. It has great picture and sound. It even has better picture than my Samsung LCD. I only use my LCD for gaming and I use my DLP for Directv and blurays. I would reccomend anyone to buy this hdtv if you want a big tv and dont want to spend too much.
I am so happy that people in the world are so stupid and think flat panel is the best, LMFAO, That is why DLP is now so cheap! Thank you. My DLP sets will be around 15 years from now and with a new bulb each time it will look the same as the day I got it! $99 for a bulb on ebay every 2-3 years I can live with My parents 2 year old LCD lg model is already dimming and the color just flat out sucks, Soon they will have to discard it. And my 6 segment color engine provides way more plush colors!
Well, the pic quality, ease of use, menus, and color are all amazing. The sound is pretty mediocre, and doesnt sound that great, but if you hook it up to speakers of any sort, the entire thing is amazing
trust me i have plenty ideas. cause what im saying is the truth. those are prices for rich basturds. and i wont stop ranting tell one gets in the 4 to 500 doller range. a good name brand . and nice size HDTV.
Not only that but I can't imagine that people think that tv's with a 3 segment color technology is better looking, I have real yellows and real sun tones when watching in high def. My dad kicked himself in the head when he seen my dlp over his LCD. I can now own a 73" DLP from mits and afford it. Again thank you to all the stupid flat panel fans. You made my dream TV affordable. And I will have it 15 years from now while you all have been through 4 Flat panel sets already. LMFAO!
You are a fucking idioit. LMFAO, My tv looks better than most flat panels and thats it! Mitsubishi makes the best DLP set ever. Now other DLP ste do suck like samsung and all other that made them, These are the best so suck ur boyfriends dick and watch your flat panel die over the years.
Yes they are great, i like them to. but the main problem i find is that they can almost sound like TV shop comersial... wich can be pritty anoying, i mean no critics just WOW AMAZING (even for a simpel digital photo frame)... but other then that its ok.
THAT SHIT IS TO BIG you dont need 60", 22 or 30 is ok , if you have the money that do you buy 1. 1xbox360+ps3+30"lcd+super pc+laptop or 2 that big tv:)))
Don't listen to anyone who say's their lamp has lasted 2-3 years. I've had this same tv for 3 years and am on my third lamp and this time the lamp ballast went with the lamp(even more money). i have this exact tv but how do i use the 3d input thingy? HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!
xdcfgbhnm 3 years ago
look for 3d glasses, if you have a videogame computer, i would suggest hooking that up after you get the geforce 3d glasses... just make sure you have an nvidia card preferably in the 8, 9 or 200 series

I got the 65" version of this TV on black friday for $1200
Flip9000 3 years ago 2
Im thinking of buying the same set, can you tell me what you think about it,Pic quality, sound quality..the works,Brutal honesty!!!
cast390 3 years ago
Well, the pic quality, ease of use, menus, and color are all amazing. The sound is pretty mediocre, and doesnt sound that great, but if you hook it up to speakers of any sort, the entire thing is amazing
Flip9000 3 years ago
the best 60" tv is the Mitsubishi Laser TV for $7000. The colors are so much cleaner than this or anything else.

There is absolutely no use for a tv that big. To me half that size would be perfect

I got my mitsu for $999
blazeplacid 3 years ago
You have no idea what you're talking about.
When Plasma TVs came out, they were $50,000.
When Rear projection CRT TVs came out, they were $10,000+.
HyperHorse 3 years ago
trust me i have plenty ideas. cause what im saying is the truth. those are prices for rich basturds. and i wont stop ranting tell one gets in the 4 to 500 doller range. a good name brand . and nice size HDTV.
purplewolfpimp 3 years ago
yes on TV controls, i hate new TV's that require so much on the user not losing the remote, mind you i couldn't afford the TV lol
klasco1991 3 years ago
pffffft
I'd rather have a 60" DLP than a 30" LCD
especially if its the same price -.-

whats the top dlp
CRAKIZGOOD 3 years ago
Not only that but I can't imagine that people think that tv's with a 3 segment color technology is better looking, I have real yellows and real sun tones when watching in high def. My dad kicked himself in the head when he seen my dlp over his LCD. I can now own a 73" DLP from mits and afford it. Again thank you to all the stupid flat panel fans. You made my dream TV affordable. And I will have it 15 years from now while you all have been through 4 Flat panel sets already. LMFAO!

Yes they are great, i like them to. but the main problem i find is that they can almost sound like TV shop comersial... wich can be pritty anoying, i mean no critics just WOW AMAZING (even for a simpel digital photo frame)... but other then that its ok.

i dotn know.. i've only done that just on a 42" inches and it looks perfect.. but with this??... it would be really amazing
afer95 3 years ago
Regardless of the size of the TV it is still only 1080p (1920x1080) so really it should still run exactly the same as on a standard 24" monitor
