  • Excuse me, I have to go brush up on my "Britash" English.

  • McChrystal out, Petraeus in: Petraeus is a great man - the only problem with this scenario is that the left called him General 'Betray us' as they tried to stop the successful surge strategy. Leftist rag site MoveOn.org

has now removed their infamous 'Betray us' commercial from their site. Have they no shame? Don't answer that.

  • Perhaps it was rejected because

    a) you spelled "British" wrong ("Britash"? Really?)

    b) you spelled BARACK wrong

    c) it was more than thirty seconds.

So calm down. It wasn't that good anyways.

  • This is just shit-fodder for republicans to play with.

  • The crux of the problem is that our so much of our society has degenerated into greedy me-first people that the kinds of capitalism that built this nation are very possibly unattainable. We need to become a nation built upon certain voluntary principles. Obama is not leading us in that direction. The Democrats aren't. And the Republicans are just as bad on the other side.

  • Actually Simon, it's not a false premise. It's going to happen. I can virtually guarantee you that this is step one. Our government doesn't contract...it continually expands. The social programs following the great depression were originally intended to last only a few years. Right. SS was intended to be a supplement to retirement. Right. Many taxes were intended to be temporary. Right. Now you believe that this is the final step in insurance? No how, no way. I don't buy it. No false premise.

  • Social security is a lifesaver for plenty of folks who didn't save for retirement; if it were privatized a few years ago, as conservatives wanted, millions of elderly folks would be in deep doo-doo now. Govt. social programs (GI Bill, FDIC insurance, FNMA, Freddie Mac, SBA loans, govt.-backed student loans) enabled millions of folks to move up to the middle class. Too many AARP-eligible folks forget (or choose to ignore) how much the federal govt. helped them get where they are today.

  • It's a lifesaver because our government has created a state where citizens are forced to rely on the government. Before we started down this spiral of socialistic agendas, people actually relied on their families and on each other. They did fine. But that's not even the point.

I would have been much better off taking the same money I've been forced to "contribute" to social security, and invested it into a very conservative instrument. I would have had saved over 1 million to date.

  • Listen, I'm all for capitalism and for managing one's own money, and I also might consider foregoing Social Security if I were eligible for it anyway, which I'm not (California public-school teachers don't pay into it or get it upon retirement). Our country is a great place for entrepeneurs and business owners and a lousy place for the average worker. France might be a lousy place for business owners, but they provide for their people much better than we do, and I'm ashamed by that.

  • I'm also for capitalism but I admit one of the great weaknesses of capitalism is corporate greed. I'm not on board with conservatives on that point (and a few others). A society needs to be based upon certain values...free values but values where a CEO doesn't make 150 million per year while the 65 year old woman is still working 2 janitorial jobs because she can't choose between medical care and food. I'm on board with that. It's immoral.

  • Okay, well, this is where I switch sides for a bit; I don't want the government telling companies how much they can pay their CEO's; ideally, when the public got wind of a CEO making an obscene amount of money, they would boycott the company and demand their mutual fund managers divest themselves of stock in that company. We citizens have to be more involved in these issues of corporate governance; if we boycotted companies who mistreat their workers, we could achieve some real change.

  • See below. I don't want the govt telling companies how much they can pay CEO's either. That doesn't mean that 100 mill/year is right or ethical when people are struggling. I think we are actually fairly close on some of these points.

The problem is that we don't want to dictate. But we agree that it's not right for them to get rich while so many in the lower classes/middle class struggle. So what's the answer? I know the answer, and for me it's unattainable right now.

  • Look, I just want the freedom to opt out of these social welfare and absurdly ineffective programs. But I can't. The govt takes my money and redistributes. And SS? What a joke! The fund is bankrupt. What happens to the many tens of thousands I've contributed so far. I'll tell you what. The govt takes that money and puts it into other social programs. They promised us it would never happen this way, but it has. And now we're all screwed. And my children's children will be paying for this mess.

  • One more thing. If SS is so great, why doesn't our govt give people the choice to opt out? It's because they need it to fund all these other mismanaged programs. If I were given the choice, I'd opt out now, even though I've fed the system for over 20 years. But our government is out of control. It will never willingly contract. It only has one motive...to get bigger and bigger. Our politiicians want more power. And that's how they get it.

  • Our politicians also get power by taking money from special-interest lobbyists, like the folks who represent the healthcare industry and big business. Speaking of mismanaged programs, when companies like WalMart pay their workers subsistence wages, many of their employees end up on the public dole; why don't you criticize corporate America for "privatizing profits and socializing losses"? It's not all the govt's fault.

Ralph Nader is on the right track when he discusses our "corporatocracy"

  • Read above. I hate corporate greed. I think it's immoral to create boatloads of money on the backs of your workers. Like I said, I think that's one of the weaknesses of capitalism. But that doesn't mean I think the govt should force me to live a certain way, force me into certain socialized programs or create a state of dependents.

  • To me, the beauty (and danger) of capitalism is that we have the freedom to live the lives we choose and spend money as we choose, but most Americans don't realize the power they have to change things. I don't want to buy a product made by children in Cambodia for 50 cents a day (or by an American company that mistreats and underpays its workers), but most Americans just look at the cheap prices and they don't care about who suffered to make that product. We get what we deserve, sorry to say.

  • Simon, I don't even know what you're talking about. When did I ever propose that we stop using all government funded programs? This is typical liberal misdirection...assigning a false premise to anyone who opposes them.

The government doesn't do anything efficiently. There are a few programs that only they can administer..such as police and fire services, but beyond the necessities, our government is just way too large. They are inefficient and expensive and can't control their own growth.

  • When you use the term "instituting socialized medicine" you're guilty of assigning a false premise, since the plan would simply provide an option to the private health-insurance companies that have a monopoly over the healthcare system. I agree that there are govt. programs that are wasteful, but handing everything to the private sector isn't the answer; look at what happened to Enron and countless other companies. I say we need to strive to make our public sector run more efficiently.

  • Obama's a terrible President. I don't care if he's black or white. Just don't raise my taxes (like you promised you wouldn't do), apologize to my nation's enemies, implement socialized medicine or put this nation is such debt that my grandchildren's grandchildren will still be paying for your idea of social redistribution of wealth.

  • Unirrational, if you agree to stop using all government-funded or government-sponsored social programs, then you'll have more credibility. But if you've used the services of your local police or firefighting force, the post office, public schools, Medicare, Social Security, pharmaceutical drugs or other products that were developed with federal grants, and if you ever took out a conventional mortgage, VA, or SBA loan, then you should reconsider your argument -- and your misguided beliefs.

  • I'm assuming that you are in favor of another record expansion of the federal government as they attempt to hijack the health care of the nation...right? Tell me, when is enough enough? At what point do you say, "yeah, they're taking 80% of my income. That's about enough?" What is that point? Or is there one? Right now, about 1 of 2 of my $ goes to the government in taxes. Is that enough? And Bush was no better than Obama. I'm just sick of it all.

  • I was against the bank bailouts because I felt they created the mess, so they deserved to fail; I was against the Iraq War, which turned out to be a colossal waste of money; and I'm against the subsidies that we give to our farmers that end up hurting poor farmers in other countries, but when it comes to health care, I think reforming the system is so important that if we're going to waste money, let's at least waste it on something that benefits average people.

  • I was for the Iraq war...and I was wrong. I admit it. Yeah, millions now have access to their freedom, but they don't appreciate it and it's just not our war. I'm tired of policing the world. I was against the bailouts, against subsidies...Simon, I probably misread you. And I believe you probably misread me as well. Personally, I want to help people, and often do, but I don't believe the government has the moral right to force us to do things our forefathers never intended. Keep America strong.

  • I guess I don't see it as the government forcing us to do anything, though everyone may be required to purchase health insurance, in order to spread the risk around. But I see that as similar to the requirement that drivers carry automobile insurance. Anyway, the public option would just be an option -- one that ideally would break the monopoly healthcare companies currently have. Those companies hate Obama's plan, which tells me that he's on to something that would help consumers.

  • I don't care for the current insurance setup either, but that doesn't mean that I want change just for the sake of change. True privatized health insurance may be the key.

Obama promises that illegals will not be covered, but now there is talk of his offering amnesty to all illegals to circumvent the verbiage. That's the kind of double talk and prancing around the issue that just burns me. And nobody - not anyone - has the legal right to take 50% plus of the income I make for ???

  • Let me tell you why I believe undocumented immigrants should be covered: That's 12 million more people who will have to pay for coverage, and the more people who have to pay, the lower the average cost is for the rest of us. Plus, if they're here and uninsured, they're going to continue to over-use the county-run emergency rooms. I say, make them pay for their coverage like everyone else in the country.

  • I should clarify what I mean by true privatized health insurance. I cannot accept allowing the government to take control of this huge engine (health care). It would be a nightmare. Obama claims it would be more efficient. Yeah right...everything the govt does runs like clockwork. I can point to almost any sector and show millions or billions of waste.

Let private companies run health care, but get rid of the expensive and needless lawsuits, regulate it to a point if you want, but no govt!

  • I can't stand Obama or Moveon but you don't know how to spell and this video sucks.

  • 1. put your finger on your nose

    2. hold your breath for 5 seconds

    3. say the name of your love

    4. that person will ask you out on the next Friday

    5. you will have the best day tomorrow

    6. if you don't copy and paste to 2 other videos you will have bad luck and die in 2 days Comment(s) marked as spam Show

  • BRITASH??? BRITISH!!!

  • This wasn't very good. And there were numerous spelling errors: "Barock" "Britash"

  • LAME

  • you people are incorrigibly dense, it's a fucking joke

I mean god damn, people, open up your eyes.

  • Hilarious! You totally have a future in political advertising! Please do one for McCain too! I'd love to see it!!!!! hehehehehe!

  • Do you really not see why this was rejected? It's over 30 seconds; Identifying stereotypes doesn't unify, it divides; Your spelling and lack of factual accuracy; Unlike the other submission, this contained NO original music or footage; You stole images from the internet and put them to stolen MICHAEL JACKSON of all people. How did you not think this would turn people of? I see what you were going for, but no. The recipe planned was for a wedding cake, and you made a gingerugly man. :|

  • this ad is horrible no wonder it was rejected

  • This sucks

  • God, this video almost makes me not want to vote for Obama. Why did Moveon reject it? It's a bunch of reverse-racist bs.

  • I'm only going to point out a couple of the MANY things that are distasteful in this video.

    1) Learn to spell. It's Barack, not Barock, and British, not Britash.

    2) Kansas is automatically viewed as a bunch of white hicks living in a trailer?

    Seriously...

and I don't see how you spent any money making this...

  • Someone didn't do their homework. Most of the people shown aren't biracial black and white. Duane Johnson's mother is Samoan. Tiger Wood's mother is Asian I believe. Maya Rudolph's parents are black and latino. Very strange!

  • Talk about pushing the envelope! Even if this is a satire, it's done in poor taste. Ok, there are racial stereotypes, but pointing this out and not moving beyond it diminishes whatever positive point that's trying to be made here. The issue of race in America is too sensitive a topic and deserves a more enlightened approach, especially when being satirized. Take a lesson from Robert Townsend's "Hollywood Shuffle."

As a person of mixed race & Obama supporter, I am offended by this video.

  • Racist stereotypes, ingenious! He likes menthol cigarettes, because he's black, but he likes Nascar, because he's white! How clever... NOT. This ad fails.

  • It's also just a poorly put together add that illustrates everything this race isn't about.

  • I liked the ad. I think it was funny, but it was using sibliminal messages to get into our hearts. Just be openminded. It wasn't trash. Shit if you are tolerant to watch the Cosby's or listen to Jimi Hendrix, or anyone else that is mixed, then you can accept that in fact, EVERYTHING IS Black & White! If we had all mixed, there would be no war, there would be no hate. We would love our brothers & sisters. All of you ignorant ones, are no better than the Nazis & their,

    "Final Solution".

  • I can't really classify this. It could've been a parody or satire had it been even remotely humorous, and since it obviously doesn't have any quality, I think it's safe to classify it as "trash".

  • It's a SATIRE, you boobs. They have another ad called 'BANG ME LIKE BARACK OBAMA!!!' - it's a must-see. gWIw7VgsAjM. They're making fun of Obama. And it's great fun. Laugh your arse off.

  • I'm also a cross breed. I am white, puerto rican, german, irish, native american, scottish, and who knows what else. Does that mean I should run for President?

  • sure beats the "inbred", like George W Bush

  • I think I would make a better president...and anyone else for that matter

  • @casunray not even close...the empty suited con man destroys our country every day he is in office..

  • Oj and Nicole,nuff said!

  • They rejected it because it is all about his fricking race, you douche.

  • THANK YOU!!!!! Geez!

  • Not only is it implying that the only reason people aren't voting for Barack is his race, it also has tons of sps which make it hard to read. It rightfully earned a zero. And in no way would that ever make me want to vote for Barack. I've got my own reasons, correct reasons such as policy, for voting for Barack.

  • they rejected it because you spelled british and barack wrong.

  • And thank YOU!

  • You missed Alexandra Stevenson, the qualifier who became a 1999 Wimbledon semi-finalist, in the category of people with a black and a white parent. I think it's a nice ad, but maybe too focused on race to be accepted by Obama initially, but now that he's been forced to talk about race, he'll reconsider supporting it? And I'm sure Micheal J. will give you the rights to the song, he'd like to be tied to Obama ... I guess. Maybe you could go for "Ebony & Ivory"? ;) Don't listen to the haters!!!

  • This is ok, but I can see why it was rejected. This video is too long (over 30secs), but is more about race and interacial relations being ok than Obama himself and his politics. As you know, Obama doesn't concentrate on his race as a factor for being President, so you missed the point of the brief. You put a lot of time and effort into it, but next time, get someone's opinion to help you, and maybe you can succeed on another project. I wish you well.

  • I like it, but the Newports pack, please, and i'm a smoker!!! LoL~

  • I liked it, but some of the words are misspelled like you said "Britash" and "Barock". It took away from how good it was.

  • It's just like a mini MALL

  • good job

  • Maybe they'd post if you could put your mouths over the exithole of your private room, ceptin it's prolly a whole in the ground which as we know is unprophylatic in yourn worlds.

  • If you watch the interview with these losers you begin to realize exactly how "off" they are. They think just because they are hot and live in LA that people will listen to them. It's pathetic.

  • If you watch the interview you begin to realize exactly how funny they are. Apparently, the joke is on you.

  • Actually if you watch the interview you realize LampShade is right. Is this your shill account to talk yourselves up? You aren't the least bit funny.

  • you're going to jail

  • Sunday/Knight continues to raise the bar in a good way!!! Genius work fellas

  • wow. MoveOn should ban this from being played.

  • Ridiculous and totally offensive. Comparing Obama to a dog? to the light skinned cosby's? how could you think that would benefit obama? you have a few screws loose.

  • first of all the contest is called OBAMA IN THIRTY SECONDS, your video is over a minute. secondly it features a song that you could never get the rights to, thirdly WHAT DID YOU SPEND MONEY ON!? it is ridiculous.
