You guys say that Michael Eisner is the devil and well that could be true, Jeffery Katzenburg is also kind of a deuche. Now sure while he was in charge, Disney produced it's best like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King, but that was out of the animators fighting with him. Think of it as negative encouragement. For example, Katzenburg was going to cut the song "Part of your world" out of the Little Mermaid.
people dont give michael eisner enough credit. he brought disney back to life in the 80s-90s. he was a great assest to the walt disney company. just because he didnt want to hire jeff katzenberg as president and when jeff made a big deal about it he basically asked him to resign, doesnt discredit him for all the great stuff he did for the company. maybe he shouldnt have asked katzenberg to resign, but that was his decision.
@Lightner445555555555 You can blame the Disney Channel for that. The movies (animated movies at least, Pixar and all) still have that charm in them. It's their television arm that's been going down the drain, and it unfortunately gave anything associated with Disney a bad name.
The golden anniversary? Wasn't that in 1973, BEFORE The Little Mermaid and the creation of Touchstone (and its films Splash and Who Framed Roger Rabbit)? Or is this just the golden anniversary of when they started the show that was eventually called The Wonderful World of Disney?
Eisner was an utter fool when the early 2000s arrived. I used to think he was a great guy in the 90s, but when he thought about separating Disney from Pixar, THAT seriously PISSED me off!!
Roy E. Disney was right about him. Eisner's replacement Bob Iger IS now the guy I trust under Disney! He seems to know what to do!
@twist58: First of all Roy Disney did trust Eisner. Eisner's downfall was when Frank Wells died. Frank Wells was the glue that held everyone together. After his death, Eisner, let the power go to his head. Iger is no better. He's allowing Disney to still marketing those little whores on the Disney Channel. That is totally the wrong message to send to children. The studio won't be in good hands until someone understand how to blend the moral values from the past with today's technology.
@LadySpellcaster. That's not entirely accurate. True, Roy did trust Eisner from the start and even when Frank Wells died, it was bad on Eisner's reputation. But it did go further downhill when Eisner thought up separating Pixar permanently from Disney as well as leading the company toward a "different direction." Roy stated that Eisner was mismanaging the company altogether, rendering it to become like a "soul-less" conglomerate, which Disney was NOT all about. Iger is NOW the man!
@AlanSmithySculptor: He used to be alright. That's why Roy Disney backed him. The problem was he let the power inflate his ego and it got out of control. The real sleaze was Jeffery Katzenberg. He whined and complained cause he didn't get a promotion immediately after Frank Wells died. Talk about disrespectful.
It's interesting how this piece showed so many things about how the Walt Disney Company started to grow after the long absents of Walt Disney. Of course, this was the beginning of the new corporate Disney that would change so much both good and bad. It will be interesting to see where Disney will be in 20 years.
@mattjnor98 Blame it on the fact that his Partner and President of The Walt Disney Company Frank Wells died in a Helicopter Crash while returning from Skiing in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in 1994.
Could someone kindly tell me what makes Eisner bad for Disney? I'm a Disney fan and I feel like I'm missing out on something important by not knowing...
@wizardwarrior713 He was micromanaging the magic right out of Disney, and turning it into a big, evil, souless corporation. Not to mention that he was the one that started the idea of direct-to-video Disney sequels. Plus, Disney movies were just getting worse and worse under him as time went on.
@Thoralmir: Intially, Roy Disney trusted Eisner and the Disney Renaissance flourished under him till he let the power corrupt him. Iger is the one keeping a soulless and greedy corporation. There were more layoffs ever since he took power and there is no balance in the payroll. He makes more than he deserves while cast members struggle to make ends meat. How do I know, cause I interned there and saw how the dedicated full-timers were treated.
How did you get the VHS?? I recorded this when it aired and accidentally recorded over part of it. There are missing parts to this member's video clips of the program. Could you tell me the official name of the VHS tape and how I can get a copy, please? This was my all-time favorite made-for-TV Disney special. I practically memorized the entire program! It was wonderful.
@jumpin80s11 It's not actually on VHS -- I don't know how this uploader got such a great quality version -- by the time I converted my VHS recorded copy (full of awesome 90s commercials and everything) it was practically falling apart. Trust me, I definitely looked for it!
Even though I have an intense dislike towards Eisner, I loved his interaction with Mickey in the first part of this video. It was so cute, and I totally loved Mickey's outfit (it's not what he normally wears, but he just looks so goddamn adorable in it <33). xDD I love Mickey Mouse just so much ♥
they gave Mickey a friggin' Eisner watch. im sure after he was finished with this skit, Mickey washed his hands for a few hours, stating that his wrist was still filthy
Ah, Disney on the verge of the Renaissance, where anything was possible. Of course we all know what happened, their 2D animated films stopped making money, so they only made CGI films.
I love how Alice in Wonderland's Caterpillar starts it off, I always felt that Alice in particular was sort of neglected in Disney and Disneyland history, even in the Kingdom Hearts game they dont even us any of the actual music from the film.

what would pixar be without disney? it wouldnt be half of what it is today, the man behind pixar always wanted to work with disney. so its hand in handwork, not just pixar. your an idiot... get to know your history...
The man doesn't make the company. I know John Lassiter has worked for Disney, but the whole essence of Pixar is because of HIM. His mind, his thinking.
I'm very well aware of my history. I hate name-dropping, but the Disney's are literally friends of friends (our family friends are Disney's family friends).
ok, fattie. whatever helps you sleep. i have a life unlike you. keep living in lala land. i will be going to class soon. i hope you lose those masses amounts of fattie pockets, whilst i have none. its great being perfect. have a good one.

I disagree about Pixar- Pixar is FANTASTIC. It doesn't really have anything to do with Disney apart from distribution.
The Disney original CGI films, on the other hand- rubbish. Terrible.
Pixar has created a magic of it's own, similar to but quite seperate from Disney's own history.

What difference does it make if ppl believe me or not?
It doesn't effect me in any way whatsoever.
