Out of all the QB's Devlin makes "The Best Decision" with the ball WITHOUT USING A TRICK PLAY ,this is very important and he has the quickest foot work! "Pocket Presence ,Arm strength and etc. can be fix in the next level! I see great things for this young man if drafted...
Im hoping that Jim Harbaugh will bring him to the 9ers seeing as how Devlin appears to be the best suited WCO qb in this draft..Its been 8 long years since I could feel optomistic again haha.
ok man i agree pat devlin is a good ass Qb but not number two and mallett is going to be a bust in the nfl my 2011 qb draft rankings are 1. blaine gabbert 2. jake locker 3. christian ponder 4. pat devlin 5. ryan mallet
@steventheraiderful Young is a head case i think gabbert is just a panic reaction to find the next best qb cause luck is not declaring....either devlin or locker but if Cam drops they would be dumb not to get him
Finally someone who thinks Luck may not be the best QB in the draft. I haven't heard a friggin thing about Luck untill this season. Granted I don't pay attention to Stanford but I do to college football.
I was waiting for someone to ask this question. I'm not impressed with Luck's wind-up in his throwing motion. Two factors that he can't control; that he has a very good OL and coach who could possibly hide some of his flaws. I would like to see how Luck plays under duress, I'm not sure he can handle it at this time. I know Devlin and Mallett can though. I also know Devlin and Mallett are equipped with bigger arms than Luck and are accurate in their own right.
@mikewilliams111 As you see I don't even have Locker ranked anymore. I gave him a chance to progress this season. I thought maybe in his 2nd year in a new offense, he'll stop staring down receivers and go through his progressions. He failed to do that this year. -- Please don't make up stats -- Luck has been sacked a total of 11 times in two years, while Locker has been sacked something like 47 times. -- Pat Devlin right now is a 2nd rounder, but after pro-day/combine, he should be in the top 20
@mikewilliams111 No, he doesn't. My opinions are dominating the comment section. So if you/anyone would like to ask anymore questions(On any offensive prospect) please go ahead and message me. Be sure to watch the Div I AA Championship on January 07th, 2011.
@brlloyd I have a question about Blaine Gabbert. What do you think of him, if he declares i would like to see my seahawks pick him in the first round.
@brlloyd I find it kind of strange that you're critical of Andrew Luck's throwing motion...and yet have Ryan Mallett, who has the longest, slowest release this side of Bryan Leftwich, rated #1.
I don't think Luck has much to prove in the way of handling pressure. On the occasions where he does get pressure he shows outstanding pocket presence/awareness. He's an INFINITELY better athlete than Mallett.
@brlloyd "I would like to see how Luck plays under duress, I'm not sure he can handle it at this time. I know Devlin and Mallett can though." I dont agree with that statement abou Mallet handling pressure. He looked horrible under pressure in the bowl game against Ohio. They could of won it if it wasnt for Mallet not handling the pressure situation the right way. =/
@brlloyd Do you something that 32 professional scouts dont know, Luck was the highest rated qb to come out of college since peyton manning so there wernt too many flaws in lucks game according to nfl scouts
@brlloyd Your taking the QB that would've been no.1 overall if he would have declared not even in the top 5? Look at Philip Rivers wind-up, he makes it work, and Luck is one of the most accurate QB's in the nation. Lucks Pocket Presence is that of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, Luck can lead his team in final drives and he has. I think Ryan Mallet is a great player but he does not have very good pocket presence. He also does a Jay Cutler type of throw when he doesnt step into his throws a lot.
@brlloyd Devlin is also another kid who doesn't have very good pocket presence, Devlin does not have very good arm strength and probably has about the same arm strength as luck. Also Devlin holds the ball way too long in the pocket causing more sacks. My top 3 Qb's for the 2011 draft are 1.Gabbert 2.Ponder 3.Locker
Gabbert is probably the most accurate QB coming into the 2011 draft, also good scrambler. Ponder is a very smart kid and accurate, not the best arm though.
@brlloyd Locker has the raw materials to be a future Ben Roethlisburger, Locker is a dual threat QB and keeps the play alive and has a huge arm. He is an amazing player outside the pocket. He needs to improve on his pocket throwing in order to be an elite QB. I think Locker will work on his pocket game this offseason and will be drafted in the 1st. I'll need to see more of everyone in the draft combine and the pro days to really decide on the best QBs coming into the draft.
Dudes got a heck of a quick release. Not sure if he's got enough zip on the ball or accuracy. Lets see what he does this season before we deem him a 1st rounder or not. Good luck to him though.
Devlin is not even a 1st round QB right now. he needs to put up some ggreat numbers to be drafted in the 2nd half of the 1st round. His footwork is lacking, he makes one read and then checks down. He has the physical tools but needs to have a grerat season to be a 1st rounder
