@6EELZE6U6666 - you have to go with what works for you. There are no true rules ... I do believe an efficient pick stroke will give you the most speed. That and a ton of practicing! - Carl Roa
Who ever the 3 peoples are that gave this video thumbs down their dumbasses probably went to the link to the tab and couldn't play it fucking amateurs xD
Pretty beast playing, very nice tone, but it would be even better if he improved his picking tech. As you can see he's not using wrist enough, so his arm is also moving. Dunno if it is done by purpose.
YES! I've been meaning to learn this piece, but have lacked the drive to actually find a good version.... now I've got one! Thank you once again, Mr. Roa (and Guitar World!) for these great lessons
@ZepIV - Very cool! I have the TAB and Guitar Pro 6 files available for download off mywebsite. Link is under the Guitar World logo on my homepage. Good luck with the practicing!
is the tab and guitar pro files up on your website already ? can't find them.. I just checked the ElfRiffs section but only PDFs for previous lessons :(
@davidetsonskate - Hey thanks ... it's not easy! Lot's of practicing involved. I do work on technique daily, and prefer music studies like this Paganini piece. Also the Bach piece I did last month. Help make my own music easier to play.
@TheSuperMerc - Carl Roa is from the band MAGIC ELF (not Dio's "Elf"), Magic Elf is an awesome heavy instrumental progressive fusion trio, they've been around since at least the mid `90's or so, have a few CDs out, featured in Guitar World a few times over the years, their stuff is kind of a cross between The Dregs, Rush, Jeff Beck, Crimson, Holdsworth, Mahavishnu, Yngwie, etc, pretty wild stuff with killer chops, very heavy, the drums and bass in that band are insane too, very intense music.
In my opinion without Paganini there wouldn't be heavy metal...

Jason Becker's Version! Love it
NeufilmsInc 10 months ago 2
actually I after this I feel like accusing paganini of ripping bach off
almost exact same riffs for bach fugue #13
I'm a guitarist not stupid
same situation in cross roads.
shit if it were about playin bach and paganini I'd have had a recording contract 5 damn years ago.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
as sweet as this guy is, his tone is a bit off,
when he's playing low on you just can't hear his notes.
esp when shredding at the beggining.
i just cant hear it well.

@astaschak guitar pro 6 files are .gpx format. You can't open them in GP5. There is the possibility to save as .gp5 in guitar pro 6 though.
