When he joined Guillotine he was a guitarist(With jeff (mantas)), but the bass player left shortly before a gig and Cronos took up the bass and changed the name to Venom. As we all know he left Venom for a while and formed "Cronos", and did other projects, but in reality he "is Venom". A great band, Cronos has always had his head firmly screwed on and thats the secret to longevity! Long live Venom, Woooooohhhh Black metal!!!

I'd say the great Cronos is 55% of Venom to me. That's still a huge chunk. Sadly, because of the last 4 or 5 releases that only had maybe 3-5 memorable songs, I really miss the classic lineup. Since Mantas/Abaddon had writing credits, I'd say that explains the shift. To me, Venom 81-85 (singles also)Welcome To Hell-Possessed were just flawless albums. I still bought the newer ones but overall they're okay at best. When I saw them live for Metal Black I wasn't surprised they only played one song

I would agree with what you say. From listening to the recent stuff, metal black, hell etc, there isnt songs like "In league with satan" etc there. I admire the spirit that Cronos has after all this time for the music which we all love, and i still think they try very hard. I too hark back to the classic lineup. It was the album "the singles 80-86" which ignited my love for the great Black metal!
