I wanted to know how come i cant see a level meter from my pro tools when i put my mic into my fast track pro interface. I am switching my i/o connections all around in still not seeing it while i record on pro tools but can hear the mic live , Can anyone help me with this step up.

@LuisQelnene Sounds like the mix was recorded with a lower audio setting. You can buss that audio track to an aux track to add volume control. Adding compression is not recommended for audio too much, because it will create clipping, but you can add some compression to the audio and adjust the levels with the aux track control. There are videos that can show oyu how to do this.

@112kish 24 bit is better to record in than 16 bit...when you bounce your audio to an ,.mp3 or in ProTools .wav you would use industry standard 44.100 khz x 16 bit or 44.1 x 16b.

On mixdown, you don't need all the extra headroom so you mixdown to 16 bit.

@sandroslb Thats a latency issue, most likely. What recording software you use to record? In most DAW software you can adjust the buffer size to compensate. Depending on the amount of power in your performance, you might want more buffering to lower the latency. Also, make sure you use no plugins when recording raw audio. You can add those during the mixing process Bussing each vocal track to an Auxiliary track to have more control of your audio is goo too.

omgi have never had more of a hard with with anything then trying to run and use a programme then protools not only was my computer not big enough for it but i had to install new ram which stopped my sound card finally when i got sound to work protools when recording it makes noise out of my speackers but doesnt make sound waves during recording its just a flat line gaaaah help please please please

@masonkrzeminski By default, ProTools mutes the audio tracks before you can play them. This is so you don't get blasted away right of the bat. Check your mixer channels for the master and stereo output channels. If you don't see them you have to add them. You have to make sure you have the audio preferences setup correctly under Protools>Preferences>Audio. Make sure your mAudio box or digidesign interface is correctly connected. I may be adding some tutorials on my channel soon.

Hi there how's goin? i hav M POWERED 8 PRO TOOLS, everythin is workin ohrigh but one think is that when i bounce 2 disk or export the file it doesnt play on window player or any others, it says it needs codec 2 play the file. wat do u think s the problem

@ramrout003 Pro tools only bounces .wav files, AIFF, etc...not .mp3 unless you unlock it. Usually means an iLok device. The best thing to do is get an mp3 convertor and convert to mp3 after the wav bounce. Wav files can be played well with quicktime player. If needed, search for a codec to add to the media player.

Why would you ever want to record at 16 bit? There is an audible difference between 16 bit and 24 bit. Hard drive space is cheap. Nowadays there is no reason to EVER use 16 bit to record live audio. Horrible advice!!!!! Stick to editing video.. Hire a professional for your audio!!

@thetoman You shouldn't record in 16-bit, recod in 24- bit or even 28-bit if you like. It's the bounce to disk that should be 16-bit. That will give you a smaller file size and industry standard quality.

Your still hearing stereo playback... it doubles up the sound input ... Click the little m underneath your track name and it should stop... hope to help if it still persists then hit me up on here..

I don't thinl the XP version matters. I believe you can do either home or pro. I use pro and it works fine.
