I love this song. How am Brazilian and I am not very fluent in English, I confess that a lot of work to find it. It's a song that conveys strength, power, a contagious rhythms, including the clip.
Congratulations and thank the band and the person who posted the video.
@diamonds1997 amazing cover is a serious overstatement. the Sunday girl version is total shite. her voice is bland the beat has a sel by date. you should check out the extended version and the band of gypsies version they are all totaly diffrent, also i would say alot better that the album version even tho it has it's own qualities.
Who'd have thought it, nigh on 20yrs ago, when I first got into this track, and Sunscreem, that I'd be back ere today, loving it large and realising this got me into EDM in the first place! Thanks to all!
@77Ferron you obviously don't listin to sunscreem, or maybe you just have extremely shit musical taste. i went and listined to sunday girls attempt because of your comment and honestly it's the sort of tune that goes out of date in a month or two her voice was amongst the most boring bland voices i've ever heard. the original mixes are 20 yr old now and they still sound fresh as ever. check out the band of gypsies mix and the extended dance mix, both timless masterpieces.
@kjah187 WOOOOW, you rude old cunt >:( !!! I said I liked Sunscreem's original version, but I simply preferred Sunday GIrl's interpretation because it's great for running to and for getting busy. Even if you didn't like her song, no needs to get on my tits about it... People these days :(
@TheSkaterkid777 HOLY FUCK PEOPLE lmfao, I just said I preferred her version! I like Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" better than the original, too- wanna jump on me for that? All I said was I PREFERRED her version; I didn't say it was better. Are you retarded? Do you not understand we're all allowed to have our own opinions? An absolute masterpiece, and not just dance. It is a compendium of the disco and new wave that came before it along with it's current sound when it was written. And yes, this song was definitely ahead of its time. Another thing is that "Love U More" has components and actual movements to the song. It's not just another set the beat to 128bpm, set the bassline to Bb, and get generic semi-hot singer with a decent voice to sing over it. Thinking about it across genres, this is in my Top 5 all-time.
This was the first techno/rave song to break the top-40 in the US. In 1992, that was a huge deal since the grunge movement was still in full swing, and most radio stations and MTV basically ignored electronic music at the time.
i never didnt like this song. i was 9 when i heard this on the radio (yes, this music used to be played on the radio), and i was hooked instantly. and for year, until about 2006 i had no idea who it was that i fell in love with back then. finally, i know. i only love this song all the more now.........um, except for the weird lyrics about fathers raping their daughters. wtf to that!
i don't know why.... but this song always gets me!.... i have to hear it ones in a while.... never had this with any other track or song! fucking lost times.... i guess i miss those times in my unconsciousness .....
i saw this band in the early 90's at bar i use to go to in Cleveland ,oh . i remember they were really good .. the bar was called the Smart Bar.. i loved that place ,it was down in the flats on the river.good memories...
Thanks for posting this. When this song was released, i was in college & had it on cassette single. For some reason, I just thought of it today for the 1st time in 19 years! Hearing it just now brought back memories of the guy I loved back then (& still do)..... :)
I remember hearing this back in 1992 when I was 16 on Atlanta's 99X station , never heard it again until now, I kept thinking the band's name was SunScreeN instead of SunscreeM , the last letter has thrown me off for 19 freakin years!
Well... Yes.... Usually when the arranger gives space to instruments to interact, the tunes drives through... and melodic stuff is what sticks in one's head. This tune is a perfect example. When I first heard thought it was performed by Republica, Then I found Sunscreem... Honestly, this is the only tune I truly enjoy.
I remember getting O3 from a local tape store it was a promo copy . I wore it out and ended up buying at least 3 of them. This was a fun time in life and I remember hearing this and thinking "Wow why is this band not popular?!?!? " I love you guys and lady lol. Way before your time and ahead of the tide and one of my biggest influences for my music. Thank you !!!!
wicked group and never got the brilliant credit they deserve!! need to listen to tune behind song and will hear that in so many of todays dance tunes LOVE SUNSCREEN!!!
What a year 1992 was. This was a great track done by at the time seen as ' a load of travellers' yep it was also an earlier reference to environmental damage ' let the redwoods die' however the theme is quite is distrubing if you analyse the lyrics.
The point is the track along with Perfect Motion and Pressure were huge at outdoor events such as Tribal Gathering type events.
Birmingham University had a great rave scene, the only reason i stayed and did an Msc after my degree.
Did Sunscreem get paid royalties for the covers of this over the years? Im thinking Steps, DJ Paul Elstak and Basshunter but i bet theres over versions that got released without any dues being paid...
I thought I was the only person in the world to remember this. Idon't have this version though I only have the 12" with about 1 good and 4 shite mixes. I've got bloody hundreds of late 80's and early 90's dance 12"s but nothing to play them on.
I remember being given the single by the guys in the band and we knew nothing about their music, we just to used to hang out & party with them. When we played it for the first time, we were completely blown away and it still sends shivers down my spine when I hear it now.
went and checked out Basshunter's version. WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT!!! it was so bad, I couldn't believe it was him. I'm not a trance fan in the least, but I can acknowledge talent, and Basshunter's good at what he does. Most of the time. His version of this song being a glaring exception.
Basshunter's version is incredibly simple and formulaic, shows no respect for the original, and shows very well that he's probably only making music to make money and get girls. (Which is fine.) Sunscreem's original is amazingly well written and produced, with myriads of layers of sound. And yes, I know you kids don't care about such "details". :)
well for starters basshunters version is a different genre and much better actually. Basshunter makes music as his hobby and for fun he's not in it for the money.
@xxxJJ29xxx Hmm I agree thats the way it should be all artists, however its frustrating to see so many artists who are so much more talented and original not getting as big - still I suppose its cheese for the masses
This was original and interesting- Basshunter just uses preset sounds and follows the same formula- so doing a cover doesnt really put much forward! The early 90's were a bit richer as they discovered all the stuff that could be done with electronic music- sure it moves on now, but at a slower pace with less places to go.
Brilliant song from Sunscreem, a very under-rated band originating from Canvey Island in Essex, UK fronted by Lucia Holme. This was their second release after 'Pressure failed to chart initially but became a UK top 20 hit on its re-issue. 'Love U More' debuted and peaked at no. 23 in the UK charts in July 1992. This track was also covered by Steps, not going to say anymore!!!
"Love U More" was one of the first techno songs to hit the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Top 40, climbing to #36 (to date it is their only Hot 100 entry). It has subsequently been covered by a number of other artists including Paul Elstak, LMP, Rollergirl and Steps.
magic ...anybody got the acapella version of this one and perfect motion please...cheers ,and remember " the sun wasn't out... but the people were shining ".Shine on
This was and still is my favorite dance song of all times. I remember seeing Sunscreem at the PROBE in Los Angeles and just loosing myself in this song and "Looking at You"
So often when I think back to the early 90s I forget about this tune - and I don't know why! There was a period of about 3 months when I used to listen to it just about every day. Wouldn't classify it as a true 'house' track as Sunscreem were a proper performing act (with proper instruments and everything lol). The way the whole thing builds up to a great crescendo still makes me tingle after all these years :-)
I don't know why I forgot about this song also. I've forgotten about it lots of times. Tonight I found it and I thought 'oh it's from 2002 or some time. Then I remembered. I loved it. I played it around 10 times tonight. It made me cry.
Oh my god I've been looking for this and pressure for well over 10 years - fantastic, takes me right back. Anyone out there know where I can buy this and pressure us?? Don't want to lose them again :o)
