  • What is the second song that Brass-D plays? Without the octave up it sounds nice.

  • @MrMikeCraft - if you hate my instrument, why did you even listen to the video? Go fag somwhere people might care.

  • i fuckin hate high noted instruments THUMBS UP IF YOU LOVE LOW BRASS now thats where its at!

  • @MrMikeCraft I Like both? I like high pitched but only if they are clean and not like this high cracking you know ;) if they are in tone with the low copper its alright for me ^^

  • Hampton sounds like crap as usual

  • The sectional sounds could be better, but as musicians people miss notes, play out of tune especially as a section. You can't judge each individual musician by how their section sounded after ONE performance

  • tuba battles are better anyways :D

  • i would have to agrea but the only person i blame is the conducter he need to learn how to tune thhhhe trumpates

  • sounds like a dying chicken

  • at many points it sounded like the notes were trying to rip away from each other.... not a pleasant sound

  • remember back when you were "learning how to play" and you had to sound "good"?

every instrument seems to forget that...

  • this is why i hate show/ghetto bands....no like skill...it's just who can play higher and louder...even it's god aweful!!

  • Another Example who SCREAMS : High & Loud isnt good every time :D

  • i play trumpet in my high school band but i cant play that well.... yet :)

  • that one kid has black shoes.

  • horrible highnotes at 1:23 ...

  • why is this in the category "Music"

i'm sorry but this is just shit....

  • As usual the Dizziacs disappoint me with the constant intonation problems and just general out of place-ness...bad stuff guys...really bad

  • both sounded like crap.

  • @lilyellowduckiePhD I have to agree!!! they were like everywhere!!! and they had struggles BAD with high notes!!! my saying is if its too high take it down!!!! lol

  • who in the blue.?

  • DIRTY! can you say BLAAAATTTT???

  • dont ecourage them, keep in mind they ARE trumpet players :P

  • NSU is better but both are all over the place with the intonation...

  • Ass hole

  • this is so bright and crass......not to mention as sloppy as any bad high school band......ooooh loud......oooooh high.....translation= immature.

  • wt bout southern univesity

  • If any of these players auditioned for a Drum and Bugle Corps they would fail... I just wish they would play with a better sound

  • @cavalierfan2008 no they wouldn't. probably all would make it from nsu (green section). as individuals they may be fucking awesome! there is a time and a place for it. if you don't understand the style then.... why comment? see this same section at festival... total different sound.

  • @cavalierfan2008 You'd be surprised. A few of them probably have marched with a Drum Corp or two. Except this is a Traditional Style marching band. Knowing the difference between different marching styles is important.

  • @1mikahael Traditional? I bet even traditional style from back in the 70's sounded better than this... i'm sorry I understand that the style might be traditional but no one marches like that anymore. Unless you are apart of a DCI alumni corps like the Kingsmen back when they played an exhibition in semis... even at that the style still was different... I follow enough of drum corps to know the difference.

  • Not impressed.

  • First learn to play the trumpet before you try to play legitament music and play in the upper register, also memorizing music never hurt anybody.

  • trumpets!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If you're gonna play high how about playing with some sort of tone and intonation... both of these bands sucked in my opinion. Just bad fundamental musicianship.

  • What!? no vuvuzellas!?

  • Brass D got this. Dizzies were up there yea..louder..yea..but they were trying to go beyond their limits and it didnt sound good. Brass D was much cleaner and in the end thats what sounds better and carries farther

  • which one is norfolk?

sorry im asian so i dont know yet.

dont care about the duel though, this ver, very good.

  • speaking as a trumpet player NSU SOUNDED COLLEGIATE AND WELL PREPARED. No comment on the "competition". LMAO

  • this is some holly music

  • HIU sounded thin.

  • Lol, he has a trumpet under his nuts.

  • thats sweet both were good

  • NSU Last 1 was beast ,, HIU was alot kleaner i think

  • sorry folks, but this is disgusting. i'd have probably run out in 0.1 milisecond

  • @AcidLifeform Mind you, that's an anatomical impossibility.

  • hiu was so much cleaner

  • Clearly Norfolk has taken this one by a long shot!!

  • g ....... for garbage at best! Sorry, no control at all.

  • OMAIHGOD INTONATION

  • anybody hear of intonation, or or cleanliness? like both of them were all over the place. power or range doesn't mean anything if you can't play together and in tune.

  • @lilyellowduckiePhD - that's what drum corps is for.

  • Comment removed

  • @vide0dave wow your stupid and ignorant. intonation and cleanliness are some of the main foundational building blocks of all music, not just drum corps. both these groups suck any way you look at it.

  • @lilyellowduckiePhD Amazing how you can write something so seemingly

intelligent, and at the same time describe yourself on your

own you tube page with just the word "poop". Thanks for saving the rest of us the trouble.

  • @vide0dave hahahaha i like how you had to resort to making fun of my profile which has absolutely nothing to do with the shit we're talking about. that really just shows how wrong and misplaced your comments are.

  • @lilyellowduckiePhD ide like to see you play that high with a clean sound... its pretty much impossible, i agree with you on the lower notes tho

  • @lilyellowduckiePhD ide like to see you play that high with a clean sound... its pretty much impossible, i agree with you on the lower notes tho

  • @IAmMrTrumpet well one, no my clean range is not that high, but it is far from impossible (i believe their trying to hit double c's at one point, and obviously not a single one is capable of doing it). sooo two, if you can't play it well don't play it at all!!!!! (thats the my main point i am trying to get across here and nobody is getting it!!!) know your limits cuz this sounds like shit!!

  • @lilyellowduckiePhD I fully agree. I just said the same thing but I didn't notice you already said it. lol

  • @lilyellowduckiePhD what do you expect? DCi? lol

  • @lilyellowduckiePhD 30 separate trumpet players? But I agree.

  • @lilyellowduckiePhD good luck with getting your message across. its a marching band

  • @xmuzzyx20 Who cares if it is a marching band? Doesn't mean that you cannot attempt to be perfect. And vertical with time and perfect in turning... When you are perfect with tuning you become about 10x louder.

  • os de verde deu um pau no azul hahah deu até pena sou

  • Ayee that was Another Star by Stevie Wonder that HIU played first..

  • Comment removed

  • @MrKomKast yooo lemme get that sheet music message me for my email

  • @MrKomKast hey can you get me the sheetmusic?:

  • @MrKomKast can i get that sheet music?

  • What is the name of the 2nd song the blue squad played? can anyone tell me?

  • make it last forever I think.

  • Honestly, I dont think either section was real good. NSU was clearly bigger and had the better range as a section overall. Niether squad was clear or crisp and too much emphasis was on trying to scream. I would have preferred that both squads focus on intonation, and pitch rather than trying to blast. Hampton seemed to have stayed more within its ability, but NSU was the more talented I think. Bottom line, both were not as good as they could have or should have been

  • HIu did a good job. I know when other people crank it tempts you to try to crank back. but they played where they where comfortable and showed good muscianship. However, NSU was clearly the better trumpet section. They played with control and better articulation even when screaming. Both kudos to both trumpet sections.

  • Is this basically a "who's got the bigger dick" contest? I hope none of these guys are performance majors. I dont think i heard one good note. Are all southern college trumpets like this?? I seriously hope not! There isn't a warm/clear sound from either group...*shakes head*

  • @2009EIB wat do u mean by ur comment? this is just one clip

  • Green team kicked that ass

  • thats NSU ALL DAY

  • love the i dream of jenie

  • omg srry but imma have to give it to da nsu yall was gud expesually da 2nd part yalll killed it

  • srry but i gotta say nice control stayd n tune and i think we n mexico to ayaahhhayayahhh ok srry but gut both bands ps k=like da cola blueand white u no zphi n da making

  • what's the name of the song start at 1:52 ??

    I like It...;)

  • where u from...neva heard ov da dizziacs

  • @MOBTPT NSU trumpets

  • I think whoever was in the Green did the better job! The guys in the blue sounded a little out of tune in their higher octive. They both were really good though!

  • nsu all day

  • these must be high school students saying nsu dont sound good?

  • ...... nope..... disgusting.... those "high schoolers" must know something about good trumpet playing... cause this is not it

  • @jazzman8907 no they dont. hiu sounds horrible but nsu sounds great. they need to clean there ears out.

  • wat?? u r tlkin bout...

  • NASTY....not in a good way either.. out of tune, no balance AT ALL

  • mi bella genio =)

  • thats better then what My high school could do. . . lol and they have more then us

  • Any idea on where to get the music for this?

  • neither are very good, but green is better... maybe it's just the video quality

  • Very true. TBH, there is a lot of splits!!

  • both aren't really good, blue isn't playing in tune almost all the time, as is green

    they should work on that

  • i just wish our trumpets were that good. were going to a contest in jonesboro this saturday too...

  • really? i live in jonesboro AR were did yall go?

  • they r not that good they very sloppy they can just play high

  • ew...the superman fanfare was ugly

  • whats the name of the first song that the people in green play

  • I dream of Jeannie or something like that

  • green owned it- way cleaner, and better rep.

  • Both groups have intonation problems but the green section was easily superior to the blue section, who also had bad tone, attacks and releases.

  • good articulation NSU

  • in my opinion the blue group won cuz to me i didnt rly like all the screaming notes the others did =/

  • wats the song they areplayingggG???!!!

    plz tell me?

  • the green guys in my opinion wins

  • first one sounded like it had a couple riffs from 'another star' by stevie wonder

  • rotflmao, i'm pretty sure the green one jst owned the blue one, big time, haha

  • and you should learn to type properly

  • True That!

  • What is this? A formal trumpet battle? Or it is just a little amused activity of a big band competition during recess?

  • I LIKED THE FIRST ONE

  • nice....i can't even call this one...

its WAY too close to tell!!!

  • Are You serious?????? UUh NORFOLK BY a LONG SHOT!!!!!

  • TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats some crazy screaming trumpet

  • what is the second one called?

  • 2nd song is the

    'I Dream Of Genie theme'

  • WTF HIU???

  • NSU sounded better

  • wow i think the only one that sounded kinda o.k was the second song....the third and first song sounded both out of tune dearly!

  • those notes aint that high i can play the highest note

  • Are the first playing Another Star?

    -horrible

  • The first song sounds horrible (blend and balance people please)!!

And you guys need to clean up on the higher octaves.

For the second song, i dont think the higher octaves were neccesary. I think it sounded better when you played on the scale.

For the third song, some of you guys sound out of tune.

    Fourth song just sounded bad.

    Blend And Balance people Please!!!

  • Upper octave is always necessary :p But yeah sound needs work.

  • Haha. I agree with everything you guys are saying.

  • Amen.

  • what do you think this is? Drum Corps lol So watch BD or Phantom or cadets youll get your blend and balance there lol this is only for fun

  • Are those soprano's?

  • nope.

  • Oh really - Wow, they must be playing like super C and stuff!

  • if what you mean by soprano's is a normal Bb trumpet than yes.

  • the guys in green won

  • upper register sucks. take the players who can do it efficiently and have them do it, not have all the players who can play high ,do it but miss all the notes and overshoot.

  • Ima tell ya, if your high-end control isn't polished, you shouldn't go up there. No sound like a squealing trumpet section out of harmony. :(

  • NSU is the best marching in the world for me. congratulations from mexico

  • WTF was that first fanfare HIU????

  • I love the Witch theme!!

  • yo put up that tuba battle thats bout to start when you ended the video

  • da second team won yo..

  • Comment removed

  • HIU hazes all day long thats what takes up all their time and they have no time to get better on the horns...if making your rookies play their horns all day and night so that they get better and can hang with our level of playing is hazing then yes we do haze

  • NSU dont be hazing. Dont come on the internet spreadin lies.

  • ohhh MANN!!!! SUPERMAN by CHASE JUST TOTALLY DOMINATES THE END OF IT. love chase rip

  • @exit98newjersey

Lol...Chase's group played Superman. Walt Johnson was the lead player though. Just pointing it out =P

  • nsu all the way

  • NSU killed them niggas!!!

  • it doesn't fucking matter if your off tune in marching bands.

  • eegads, yes it does!!! Have you ever tried to watch a marching band that had great marching, but was so badly out of tune?! It's not fun...

  • love it,i like off tune instruments

  • why do you think i play tuba?

  • No way, I just switched to tuba, and we had a band concert today, but I'm not very good

  • dude...I play tuba, and I took offense to that statement. I happen to play in tune, and the tuba is a very pretty instrument when played in tune which really isn't that hard to do.

  • settle down. i got a full ride to bowling green by playing mine in tune.

  • I live like 4 miles away from BG, they have a really sweet marching band

  • yea, i agree but tis really fun just to pull out the tuning slide and blast it(but put it back in tune afterward)

  • Ha ha, yes yes. Though, I've never really had an opportunity...I play tuba and we normally don't get to do things like that at my college.

  • I do it with the tuba i have at my house, because the school gives you one to play at school, and one to practice at home on

  • oh, i see....he came out of the players....but that is so stupid and foolish. way to damage your instrument.

  • the blue conductor has a trumpet between his LEGS? wtf? (at least, that's what i think it is...)

  • ........ did you watch the video? he was one of the trumpet players. and he walked out, and put the trumpet in between his legs so that he could conduct

  • #6 from the left didnt have spats!

  • the green ones won!

  • gross. over played

  • eww some of them were out of tune

  • they sound good to me good job

  • dude dont blame them. trumpets are like the hardest instrument to frickin tune. and u forgot to think if the room was really cold or warm. tuning can depend om any accout of the climate buddy. but like the last few notes sounded really groos and forced and loud
