  • I always noticed that the siren noise in the NES version had static.

  • i think the atari port gets far to hard a time.

like most people it was the first home port i played.

and yes the colors are wrong its a bit chunky, and the maze isnt exact.

but it has all the game play of the arcade.

  • As crappy as it was compared to the others, I still had fun with the Atari version when I was a kid. Pac-Man on Nintendo was so awesome.

  • Thank you, I got to see versions for systems that I never knew existed.

  • @MrXminus1 I'm glad You enjoyed the video :) Check out My others.

  • I was actually pretty impressed with the Intellivision version. Not bad considering the year it came out. And it certainly beat the living hell out of the Atari 2600 sad version.

  • @summer20105707 major problem with any game on the intellivison was the controllers

never got on with the system, the games lack character & playablity for me.

    wanted to like.

saw it as a forget gem the 1st 16 bit processors, on paper a far more powerful system than atari

the graphics especially color on screen wasn't that much better than atari.

and ive yet to see anything touch battlezone for graphics and playablity on the intellivision.

they sold so poorly in the uk, owning one i can see why

  • atari cant even do simple graphics and gameplay for a simple like pac-man

  • Funny thing about Pacman 2600, Sitcoms still use the sounds to signify a character is play video games.

*Pacman death sound "OMG I just died in Halo!"

  • I like how you put the Pac-man collection theme song in the beginning. It really does capture the history.

  • @Skater00000000 Thanks You ! :) I had several individuals suggest the song "Pac Man fever" But to tell YOu the truth.. ... I HATE THAT SONG !!! >_< lol

  • sorry,, I have fat finger syndrome today. >_<

  • Hard-core results come from igniting the massive power of emotional commitment. Are your people committed?

Let’s get right on top of the bottom line: You must live your personal values at work. Check out slapCompany

  • I played that coleco tabvletop version as a kid. The big selling point ws that it was made to look roughly like a real pac man machine in the arcade, but boy the gameplay stunk!

  • the 22600 hack is based on the original Ms. Pac man I think.

  • is there a reason why the msx and nes versions of pacman are so simalar

  • i HATE the atari 2600 version. the sound effects actually made my eyes water. i had to mute the video to not go throught it again :( i have sensitive ears.

  • @imahappyvirus5

Atari was smoking crack when they made that version.

  • Damn, the Pacman ports look WAAAAAY better than the Donkey Kong ports.

  • @Bundeku Yeah. I found that out after the fact. When I did My research & was making notes I ran into a small peace of bad info. :( Sorry about that.

  • One of the cool things is that most of these systems had their own, unique look (such as the distictive font used on Intellivision games). I must admit the "fake widescreen" given to some of these clips is a bit annoying though. On an unrelated note, the ZX Spectrum port of "Pac-Man" was panned by some Spectrum magazines of the time, who felt it was over-priced (£9.95 ) for a game already a few years old at that point...

  • I have just checked out the Let's Compare videos today. It's cool to see how these games were ported to home consoles. Obviously, the original arcade ones were usually the best but sometimes a home console ended up with a great version of the classic. Case in point - I thought Game Boy's Pac-Man was one of the best ports of that game.

  • the Atari 2600 hack should have been the actual version xD

  • @spider486 Agreed ! :)

  • The Atari Hacked version is a lot closer to what Pac-Man should have been on the 2600 But even then this game could have been far better than that.

  • @wingnut4427 You should try "Hack'Em" then. VERY good rendition (even if in 16k)

  • @NightSprinter I'll look into it :)

  • Cool comparison...

  • Also, the Namco Museum collection #1 on the PSX was one of the better ports back in the early 90's. GBA/DS/PSP all have Pac-Man too.

The Atarisoft ;prototype would have trumped the Atari 5200 version by a mile!

Vic-20 version was also programmed by AtariSoft from what I recalled.

I have a DK Coleco TT and Nelsonic Watch if you need video from those I may be able to help. Also, don't forget the 2010 NES (Wii) version with pie factory added, :P

and there's always DK64's hidden arcade port.

  • Very cool comparison video as always. :)

I still find it strange that they didn't use the correct aspect ratio (or at least similar to the vert arcade version) until the MSX and NES version. Some some reason Pac-Man is way to big in those though.. Eating too many ghosts perhaps. :P

My favorite Pac-Man portable is for the SNK NGPC... why? Because of the excellent "clicky" dpad. It's the closest you will get to using an arcade stick on a portable and everyone knows Pac-Man is better w/1

  • where did you find this intro music?

  • @mspeter97 The Gameboy Advance version I think.

  • I remember the 2600, it was a disaster from hell. It looked like an unfinished prototype, and that's probably what it was.

  • @Hotrodx199 it was.

  • Wonder why the colecovision version was never released

  • @johnnyxsi the video game crash killed it. :(

  • Awwwww. No love for the FLASH Pacman. As a Flash game designer I am saddened that Flash has no respect in the eyes of Console gamers. My Splatterhouse Flash game will never be spot lighted, My Super Mario game will never be regarded as anything to historians of gaming. I am crying now. Ok I am over it, oh well, I live, don't worry about me, I will just continue my lowly flash traversing in the dark world of Unpublished unloved unrecognized games

  • @stringanime I was actually considering it but I had limited each clip to 45 seconds originally & exceeded My 15 minute time limit. So I reduced the clips down to 40 seconds each & recovered enough time but didn't think about it again. :( I really wanted to add the Atari 7800 version as well but couldn't obtain a rom image of the Pac-man collection to do it. There were about 3 others I wanted to add but due to time I couldn't. Sorry :(

  • @wingnut4427 Oh WOW! Yeah the 15 min limit is a bother isn't it. Nice to hear that the Flash Pac man and 7800 versions were on your radar. Ya know, it always bothered me that SEGA GENESIS never had its own Pacman version. And the SEGA was really good at electro music and sound too. Oh well.

  • @stringanime I'm going to be redoing Donkey Kong soon. I'll put in a flash version just for you :)

  • @wingnut4427 Cool, I didn't know about DK Flash! See, that's what I'm talking about. When a Flash game is Enshrining a classic in vector perfection, that classic should be announced, because none of the original rights holders are gonna give it a sniff and therefor it may fade into obscurity without anyone enjoying it on their 72 inch plasma sceen in HD. However the DK Flash looks like the original Sprites, not what I was hoping to see, but still it does look tight!

  • @wingnut4427 Be careful about that Donkey Kong Flash game, there are versions that are NOT complete games. Like the version by Andre Michelle, looks good at first, but it has just the 1st stage that loops forever. I realize a lot of DK versions have missing levels but not sure if you want to count a sample prototype that is an incomplete un-original experience. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, there isn't even a hammer! No Bonus, no timer AND sites have the NERVE to post shots of Later levels from Arcade

  • @stringanime yeah, I'm aware of the one level flash game. But it is playable & it's really only the 1st level I'll be showing anyway. I'm still trying to acquire some more footage from several other platforms. Hopefully I'll be finished with the Donkey Kong remake this weekend. :)

  • @wingnut4427 Oh ok. I'm with ya then, whatever you decide. Wish I had made a donkey Kong in Flash, but I tend to make my games walk to the beat of another drummer and critics give me a hard time for trying new things with classics. If you saw my game "Super Mario Enter the Mushroom Kingdom," you'd know what I mean. Maybe one day.

  • @stringanime shoot me some links to the games You have done. I'll check em out & maybe do a video for them. :D

  • 10:06 Europe only? I have a US copy.

  • @good4gamesguy That's what My researching turned up. I could be wrong.
