Your video has struck a nerve. I was a juror on a recent murder trial where two black brothers had punched and stomped two elderly males to death. When we delivered the verdict of guilty to both, the older brother went berserk, screaming loudly. Witnesses to the murders had been threatened. We the jurors were looked on as scum by the people in the court room. It was as if no one could believe that these two boys were actually being punished for what they did.

However there is a lot of historical social and economic elements of the past that still resonates and affects black Americans of today, same arguments can apply to today Native Americans.

Defend the neighborhood? If you can get a group of guys together to just help you clean the block it would be a miracle. My masjid tried to get a community block cleaning together. OK, you are right about a lot of what you said. It starts with us--with anyone for that matter-to take responsibility and raise yourself up. As a black though, what pisses me off is the subtle form of the white racist mentality when it comes to actually achieving anything on your own: you either cheated somehow or were given a coveted position. When we delivered the verdict of guilty to both, the older brother went berserk, screaming loudly. Witnesses to the murders had been threatened. We the jurors were looked on as scum by the people in the court room. It was as if no one could believe that these two boys were actually being punished for what they did.

A lot of what he is saying is true..but reading some of the comments with with the video makes it sound like the answer is so simple, and the truth is its not. Blacks in the U.S have experienced years upon years of oppression and racism. Yes I agree there are lots black people that use it as an excuse. However there is a lot of historical social and economic elements of the past that still resonates and affects black Americans of today, same arguments can apply to today Native Americans.

Defend the neighborhood? If you can get a group of guys together to just help you clean the block it would be a miracle. My masjid tried to get a community block cleaning together. On the day of the event, only the Muslims showed up to help. It was cool to see a lot of young people but the females still vastly outnumbered the males who volunteered. Its funny to see these very same neighbors out in droves during Ramadhan when we serve all you can eat free food.

We need to fix our mindtstates. Fix the minds of our people instead of beating them down. Joining the struggle and becoming active in the movement is not wrong. But we have lost the mindstate as a people to successfully bring about the Black Power Movement. All Im saying, is that instead of shooting our brothers down, uplift them. Show them how to better their minds, which will better themselves and their people. And the struggle. just some food for thought. Peace
