  • WSVN Is similar to this station with graphics and logo

  • I don't think that WCVB&WHDH are going to change owners and become O&O. That just the way i see it.

  • awsome opening i wish our nbc news station here in columbia,sc had that kind of opening

  • I stand corrected!

Actually no, the Weather Alert/7Weather music WAS composed by Chris Crane. It is NOT, however, from the WSVN 1998 package, that is false.

  • re:Weather Alert signature here is the main signature from the WSVN 1998 package? The ever resourceful Chris Crane... he recycles!

Actually no, it's from a music library.

  • Does anyone have this via. capture card or something? Kinda hard to really hear and see well on here.

  • Anyone catch that the Weather Alert signature here is the main signature from the WSVN 1998 package? The ever resourceful Chris Crane... he recycles!

  • I'm guessing they would uses Frank Gari's "Eyewitness News" theme. But i'm not sure which one they would use.

  • When WHDH-TV becomes an ABC O&O, they'll be known as 7ABC New England, and the local news theme music will be Frank Gari's "News Series 2000 Plus".

  • lol do you know this for a fact?

  • Yes...I want this to happen.

  • NS2000+. Ummm...no. Hearst owns and ops 'CVB. And since ABC sees it doing quite well, ABC won't be searching for anyone else. Besides, all the networks are content with Boston:

    WBZ leads at 11pm

WCVB leads in the mornings, and at 6pm.

WHDH fits in at just about everywhere else.

    So, it's not "when", it's "I wish".

  • Actually, I learned Frank Gari's "News Series 2000 Plus" has been retired; the "Eyewitness News" theme composed by Gari will be the theme music for when WHDH becomes an ABC O&O.

  • You know that will never...ehmm....NEVER happen, right? And besides, it causes lots of mess-up for 7, cause if it does change, it'll be the first channel to carry all 3 big networks at a point in time. ABC has a bit weaker programming, so there won't be as many good lead-ins for news, and speaking of news, they'll be contracted by ABC to restrict news times. Just to fit Oprah and all that crap. And they might have to sell the CW as well. Although the same mess would probably happen, WHDH to FOX!

  • No, I want this to happen soon. I don't like WHDH 7 as an NBC affiliate and WCVB 5 as an ABC affiliate until they swap networks with each other.

  • Hearst is not going to give up its stations' affiliates. Not once in their history. It's probably more likely IF any change is to happen, that WHDH will take FOX, or less likely, CBS.

  • No way! WCVB should be NBC O&O and WHDH should be ABC O&O due to the Circle 7 logo which is an ABC trademark.

  • So, WSVN(7) in Miami should be ABC, then? Cause WPLG(10) over there has carried the ABC network since its first broadcast. WSVN is WHDH's sister station, and uses the same logo.

Hearst's flagship, as it looks, is WCVB. I'm just saying, if WHDH wants to get an ABC affiliation, its pretty unlikely. It is better off with either FOX or NBC. CBS is pretty strong for 'BZ.

  • In Miami, WSVN should be ABC O&O and WPLG should be Fox O&O. In Boston, WHDH should be an ABC O&O station since I like to see Disney acquire those two Sunbeam stations; thus, I expect WCVB-TV to switch owners with Connecticut's WVIT, where WCVB-TV will be an NBC O&O station and WVIT will be an NBC affiliate owned by Hearst-Argyle. That's what I meant, OK?

  • Still, Hearst-Argyle is pretty tight with their stations. Heck, I'd like ABC to go to 7, then 5 could get the better programming! And the screw up may cause a bit of chaos, too. So WBZ's continuity and reliability can go up! Still, I don't think a ownership change, or even a affiliation change will happen. Heck, a pipe dream's what it is. I'm sure we're all on that same pipe. It's just going into the sewage tank.

  • Don't matter what you mean - Ansin would sooner dumb down the hellish 7 News formats to the Euro trend (simplicity) than sell to the networks.

  • Sunbeam would never sell WSVN, thats their baby, WHDH i dunno, i sort of doubt it. Ed Ansin the owner of Sunbeam is one of the richest men in the US. ABC is happy with WPLG since WPLG is #1 in Miami. I do think WPLGs ratings will plunge once they move to Broward tho. No Station that has ever moved OUT of Miami has done well. Miami is the city in that market and thats where the news is. If WPLG plummets ABC could think about an O&O in Miami.

  • I think the recent situation with the Jay Leno 10pm show and WHDH wanting to put on a newscast instead of the show is an example of how Sunbeam isn't ready to lose the station.

The quick turnaround to allowing the Leno show on shows that Sunbeam doesn't want to lose the lucrative NBC affiliation to another channel.

  • I am sure that Ed Ansin inked an undisclosed deal with NBC to air that show. Such as if the Leno Show fails, Ansin can do whatever he wants with 10pm regardless of what NBC does. One thing for sure, NBC does not want to spend more money such as buying and setting a new station up in Boston. They will do everything they can to keep affiliation with WHDH. Remember, WHDH gets NBC very good ratings in comparison to NBCs ratings in other urban areas.

  • @mrceleb2006 No, what if WCVB is happy with ABC? They probably are.

  • @jhshifris1 Not from my point of view...I wish WCVB was an NBC O&O station because they refuse to air their weekday midday newscasts for Bell TV subscribers in Canada. Infomercials suck, except during overnight hours.

  • They'd have much crappier programming, that's for sure. And that's saying something considering NBC is all that great either.

  • Things would get screwy. Screwed, screwy, and squishy.

  • Stop pipe dreamin'! Your proposal won't happen. That's that./

  • THANKS A LOT!!

  • Very fast isn't it?

British television news is still stuck in the 1960's.
